Chapter 219 Stop Bothering Me

"William, let this bottle of Lafite breathe," Evelyn said, frowning as she put her phone down.

William felt a pang of disappointment, knowing Evelyn wanted him to leave.

"I know what you're thinking, William. Just because Edward and I had a bad marriage and I despise him doesn't mean we can't have contact," Evelyn said, patting his shoulder. "I need to establish myself in Mugden to expand KS. I'll have to deal with him. Just let it be."

"But, Evelyn," William started.

"Are you worried he'll bully me? If he tries, Landon won't even need to step in; Ulysses could make him disappear from Mugden," she scoffed.

'No, that's not it. I love you deeply and would give my life for you. I'm just afraid you'll fall for Edward again. I can't bear to see that.' Evelyn thought.

William sighed, picked up the wine, and left.

Evelyn noticed her phone still vibrating, typical of Edward.

"Edward, what do you want?" she answered coldly.

"Thanks for the cake. It was delicious," Edward said.

Evelyn's breath became lighter, her long lashes lowering.

In the dead of night, everything was silent.

Edward's voice was deep and magnetic, with a husky undertone that could captivate anyone.

Evelyn used to love calling him, loved hearing his voice. Even if he was cold, she'd be so excited she'd roll around in bed.

But now, her heart was calm.

Her self-control was strong enough to quit any addiction, including love.

"You're welcome. I hope eating it reminds you not to meddle in my affairs. Think about what that dog-head cake really meant," Evelyn said icily.

"I don't think I was meddling," Edward said seriously. "Your affairs are not trivial."

Evelyn laughed mockingly. "Indeed, they're not. I can also cut down Debra's arrogance. If Debra becomes the general manager of the Wellington family's hotel, Tiffany will have her hands full. You don't want your position in the Wellington Group in jeopardy."

Edward's brows furrowed deeply.

Lily used to care for him meticulously.

But Evelyn was sharp and impenetrable, always scheming.

Despite being hurt by her, Edward couldn't forget her.

"Evelyn, do you think I care about Tiffany and Debra? They can't cause trouble under my watch. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been CEO for so long," Edward paused, hesitating.

Evelyn clenched her fingers, her knuckles cracking. "Edward, stop meddling in my affairs. This is my last piece of advice as your ex-wife. If I drag you down, don't blame me for being heartless."

"Do whatever you want," Edward's voice was smooth and magnetic, like a night breeze. "Anywhere else, I can't help, but as long as I'm in the Wellington Group, no one can touch you."

Evelyn's brows furrowed even more at his unsettling words.

The air grew still.

In a rare moment of understanding, they said nothing.

After a while, Edward cleared his throat and abruptly ended the call. "I have nothing else to say. Good night."

"You..." Before Evelyn could finish, the call was cut off.

"What nonsense is he talking about? He must be drunk," Evelyn muttered, staring at the darkened screen in confusion and shaking her head.

Meanwhile, on the other end.

After ending the call, Edward realized his palms were sweaty, his mouth dry, and his heartbeat erratic.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and muttered, "Stop bothering me."

After a severe car accident, Dorothy fell into a deep coma.

Debra learned from the doctors that she was essentially in a vegetative state, with very little chance of waking up.

'It seems even God is helping me!' she thought.

Otherwise, it would have been hard to cover up the fact that she bribed Dorothy to leak the KS WORLD contract details.

This problem was solved, but Debra's situation hadn't improved.

Last time, Ada made it clear she wouldn't sign a contract unless Edward was involved. Moreover, Ada's team was already looking at other hotels, indicating she wasn't set on the Wellington family or the Taylor family!

That afternoon, Debra went to the Clark family again.

She was anxious, but Jessica remained calm, sipping her coffee from a delicate cup and asking,

"What are you going to do about Ada?"

"Previously, Ada made a bizarre request for us and KS to find her top-tier jewelry! Edward has always wanted to invite Alexa, even going abroad to invite her but to no avail."

Jessica's eyes flashed at this.

"That's why Evelyn managed to win Ada over with just a small brooch at that welcome party!" Debra stomped her foot in anger. "Damn it, just thinking about it makes me mad! If I had Alexa's jewelry, I wouldn't have so many problems!"

"You do have it," Jessica said meaningfully.

Debra was stunned and asked, "Jessica, what do you mean? Did you get Alexa's jewelry?"

"As far as I know, Alexa is very mysterious, never appearing in public. No one knows if she's still alive, and few have seen her jewelry. So, why not just have one made and give it to Ada privately?" Jessica said lazily.

"What? You want me to give Ada a fake?" Debra was shocked, her eyes wide. "If it's found out, I'll be humiliated!"

"How could it be discovered? It's hard to tell the authenticity of a painting at an auction, let alone a piece of jewelry. Unless Alexa is present, who can tell?"

Jessica leaned forward slightly and whispered, "Besides, when I was studying in Yatuok, I met a jewelry designer who was personally trained by Alexa. I'll have him make a replica of Alexa's jewelry for you, and you can give it to Ada. She'll definitely cooperate with you then."

Still skeptical about the plan, Debra had no choice but to take a gamble due to the limited time.
