Chapter 499 Thank You for Trusting Me

Evelyn continued, "You just wait and see, he's even more vengeful than I am. He'll remember what happened today and won't let you off."

Suddenly, Evelyn's eyes darkened. "By the way, are you ready?"

"Of course. I wouldn't dare take lightly anything my wife arranges," Edward replied softly.

Evelyn's ears turned red and hot. Just as she was about to retort, she saw Jessica standing a few steps away, glaring at her with eyes as fierce as a wrathful deity.

Seeing Edward, Jessica felt uncomfortable too.

Although she had now accepted Edward and was willing to trust him without holding grudges, the scandalous rumors that once spread about him and Jessica were still a thorn in her heart.

"Edward, I've been waiting for you." Jessica immediately put on a flowery smile, looking innocent and bright, her voice sweet and coy.

"Who asked you to wait for me?" Edward glared at her coldly, his expression so stern it made her heart tremble.

But she still mustered the courage and thick-skinnedly lied, "We were supposed to go in together just now, but you saw Ms. Taylor and went over to talk to her, so I've been waiting for you."

"Edward, did I do something to upset you?"

Edward's eyes darkened instantly, and his face looked grim.

Jessica's heart leaped into her throat.

But she couldn't care less now. As long as she could break them up, she would say anything and do any dirty deed!

Evelyn's eyes flickered with a complex emotion, and her grip on Edward's hand loosened a bit.

However, just as her emotions wavered, Edward firmly interlocked his fingers with hers, not even glancing at Jessica, and quickly walked past her, leaving behind a cold word. "Scram."Jessica was humiliated and furious, trembling with anger, her face turning beet red!

He actually told her to scram?

And in front of that bitch Evelyn!

Jessica glared viciously at their backs!

Once inside, Evelyn immediately shook off Edward's hand, frowning slightly and turning her face away in a huff.

"What's wrong? Are you mad? Evelyn! Where are you going?"

Seeing Evelyn leave without looking back, Edward anxiously followed her.

The two of them reached a secluded hallway, where no one was around. Evelyn finally stopped, her eyes red-rimmed, and her rose-like lips seemed to have lost some of their color.

"Why are you following me? Go find your dear sister. Jessica is waiting for you."

Edward guessed she must be angry about this, feeling both aggrieved and anxious. He stepped forward and hugged her from behind. "Evelyn, she's just spouting nonsense to make you believe her and drive a wedge between us."

"Please, don't believe her. I've never made her wait for me!"

Evelyn struggled a bit, but to no avail, so she gave up.

Actually, she didn't believe Jessica's lies, but she just felt aggrieved, a breath stuck in her chest, neither going up nor down.

"I know, I know. I know you're still mad at me for what happened at the hotel before, blaming me."

Edward thought of how he had fallen into someone else's trap, causing Evelyn so much pain, and he felt like he couldn't go on living. "It's all my fault. I was too stupid. I should have been smarter. I shouldn't have been so foolish to be tricked."

"It's all my fault. You can hit me, beat me to death, just don't ignore me."

Really, so humble.

Besides her, who else could make the proud Edward so humble?

"You are smart enough."

Evelyn sighed, turning around in his arms, their eyes meeting. "Even if you wanted to cheat on me behind my back, you wouldn't be so stupid as to leave evidence and attract so many reporters, right?"

Edward gave a bitter smile. "Evelyn, stop teasing me."

"Last time you said it was because of me that you lost your composure."

"Someone sent me several photos of a woman who looked almost exactly like you being taken into a hotel by a man. I was completely thrown off. I was afraid you were being bullied, so I rushed over."

"Do I look like the kind of woman who would casually go to a hotel with a man? Use your brain!" Evelyn flicked his forehead in anger.

"Yes, looking back now, I was incredibly stupid. It was an obviously flawed setup, but I believed it completely." Edward rubbed his forehead, which actually hurt.

"Later, you said all the photos on your phone were deleted. At the time, I was too angry to believe you. Later, I discussed it with my fourth brother, and he tried it. It was possible to do. We just never did it before."

Now, there was only one thing that couldn't be explained.

That was the woman who looked almost exactly like her. She was dying of curiosity and really wanted to meet her immediately.

"I'll try to investigate that woman with Landon and Ulysses. With such a beautiful face, how could she bear to hide away?" Evelyn pouted, secretly complimenting herself.

"Thank you, Evelyn. Thank you for being willing to trust me."

Edward pulled her into his arms, his breathing growing heavier, and finally couldn't help but seal her lips with a kiss, his large hand resting on her slender waist, spinning her around and pressing her against the wall.

"Alright."

Evelyn was kissed until she was breathless, her heart in turmoil. She pressed her hands against his firm chest, pushing him away forcefully. "My makeup is messed up, and we still have things to do."

The news that Charlie had brought Joyce to this year's horse race spread through the venue at lightning speed.

Tiffany sat in the audience, constantly refreshing Twitter on her phone.

Seeing Evelyn and Joyce trending, with everyone praising their beauty and outfits, she was so angry her eyes turned red, and she almost crushed her phone!

No one mentioned Joyce's negative news anymore. Instead, everyone was praising her beauty, saying she outshone Tiffany!

It had been almost thirty years. She had used every means to persecute Joyce, married Patrick, and became a noble tycoon's wife. Why, in the end, did she still have to be her foil?

She was not willing to accept this!

Maybe it was because she was too emotional, but Tiffany felt the urge to pee again. She tightly crossed her legs, her body trembling slightly with embarrassment.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Patrick noticed her discomfort and asked in a low voice.

"No, no."

"If you're not feeling well, I'll have Carl take you back," Patrick said, his tone indifferent.

A surge of anger rose in Tiffany's heart.

So Patrick just saw her as a doormat, showing her off and then eagerly wanting to kick her away!

She refused to leave, determined to stick it out to the end!
