Chapter 11 An Early Birthday Gift Received

At this moment, Evelyn casually tied her hair, wearing a jewel crown as an accessory. She was wearing a sky-blue costume and skillfully singing the opera The Marriage of Figaro to Landon.

Her beautiful eyes were filled with tears, and she looked charming and attractive.

After the song ended, Landon couldn't help but applaud, smiling indulgently as he looked at her.

"Not bad, not bad. Joyce taught you well. In the past, you would definitely be one of the unforgettable beauties to emperors," he said.

"I don't want to be one of them. I want to be a queen and live confidently," Evelyn instantly returned to her usual self. She clicked her fingers.

"Why not? Otherwise, we wouldn't have three stepmothers added," Landon said helplessly, his smile bitter.

Evelyn lowered her gaze, tidied her clothes, and sat beside Landon. Her expression was unreadable as she thought about Charlie's three wives.

"Evelyn, in these three years, they all missed you and cared about you. They often privately asked me about your situation," he said.

"Landon, what are you trying to say?"

"Evelyn, when you left home and went abroad alone to be a doctor without borders, I know that you were mainly defying Dad." Landon gently embraced her shoulder, his handsome face showing a hint of sorrow. "But our father is just that kind of person. We can't choose."

"Besides, no one in this world is without flaws, even Edward, whom you loved for many years. You've been married to him for three years, and you've also discovered his shortcomings, right?"

Evelyn's long eyelashes trembled. She held onto the gemstone bracelet on her wrist.

"The difference is, you can choose to leave Edward, but you can never sever your blood ties with Dad. Since the relationship cannot be severed, try to accept it."

"Moreover, Dad loves you very much. His three wives are also kind people. Over the years, they have kept the house in order and never overstepped their boundaries. I can vouch for them with my reputation."

In fact, Landon didn't know.

Because of one thing, Evelyn had silently accepted them in her heart two years ago.

After Bart bandaged Edward's wound, he exited the room.

Edward had a headache just thinking about Nicole crying, making a scene, and breaking things. In his memory, the woman he loved was gentle, obedient, and cute so that she couldn't behave so excessively.

He sighed. People may change.

But no matter what, Nicole was Edward's childhood sweetheart. She had accompanied him through the darkest and most hopeless days, and she was his obsession.

No matter what, he would marry her.

Ignoring the pain, Edward continued to review the documents for a while. His gaze inadvertently fell on the suit placed on the couch.

He got up and walked over, carefully examining the clothes.
Although he was about the same height as Landon, his shoulders were slightly broader, and his physique a bit thicker.
No matter how Edward looked at it, this suit seemed to be tailored for him.
"It looks really ugly," he sneered coldly.
A few minutes later, Edward put on the suit.
He stood in front of the dressing mirror, glanced at himself, and raised his arm. The suit fit him perfectly. The craftsmanship was almost the same as that of high-end designer brands!
He thought, ‘Can that unfashionable country woman really have such good taste?’
At that moment, there was a knock on the door, and May came in to bring him hot milk.
"Oh, Mr. Wellington, are you wearing the clothes Mrs. Wellington gave you? She'll be very happy if she finds out!" May was delighted.
At Riverside Villa, everyone disregarded Lily except for May, who had raised Edward.
"What did you say?" Edward suddenly froze.
"You're wearing the clothes Mrs. Wellington gave you, right? Yes, this one... She asked me to pick it up from the tailor shop a month ago. She even told me to keep it a secret. She said it's her birthday gift for you."
Birthday gift? Edward stood still in shock.
But his birthday was still a while away!
"May, I know you had a good relationship with Lily, but she's already gone. You don't have to keep standing up for her in everything," Edward said coldly.
"Mr. Wellington, I've watched you grow up since you were little. Among the Wellington family, there's no one I sincerely support besides you!"
May walked over and looked meaningfully at the handsome Edward in the mirror. "Mrs. Wellington said that making clothes takes a long time. She sewed every stitch, chose and customized the fabric herself, and even made the buttons herself.
"She's usually busy with household chores, so she could only spare a little time each day to rush to the tailor shop. The suit was finished a month early. She was afraid you would find out, so she kept it hidden in the closet."
Edward felt like his chest had been hit hard. He couldn't believe what he was hearing and stared with wide eyes.
"If you don't believe me, you can check the label. It has your name on it."
Edward quickly removed the suit and threw it on the sofa as if it were on fire. "We are divorced. I'm not interested in what she did for me. You can go rest now."
"Mr. Wellington, why did you divorce Mrs. Wellington? She's so good! She was wholeheartedly devoted to you..." May exclaimed in disbelief.
"Everyone says it takes three years to understand a person truly. And that is true," Edward bitterly recalled his vague thoughts about Lily, feeling enraged. "Since she is not sincere at all, why did she pretend to love me? Did she think I would eventually fall in love with her as time went by?"

"Did she think I was easily fooled and could be toyed with?"

"Mr. Wellington, I believe there must be a misunderstanding here. I can clearly see how deeply Mrs. Wellington loves you," May shook her head in regret and walked over to fold the suits.

"That's enough, May. Please stop," Edward said.

"You've missed out on Mrs. Wellington, and one day you will regret it," May remarked.

Evelyn had intended to sleep in, but her biological clock woke her up at five in the morning.

Usually, at this time, she would be making breakfast for the Wellington family.

Now, she no longer had to immerse herself in the greasy smoke of cooking for a large family nor endure their dissatisfaction.

How wonderful! Divorce was truly great!

After a quick wash and change into tight workout clothes, Evelyn went to the lake behind the villa to row a single-person paddleboard.

The lakeside was filled with the fragrance of flowers and the chirping of birds. Evelyn swung her arms and swiftly glided across the calm, mirror-like surface of the lake, leaving behind ripples.

After her workout, she had breakfast and got ready for the day. Then, full of energy, Evelyn went downstairs.

When William saw her, he couldn't help but stare at her.

Today, Evelyn had her long hair pinned up, still wearing exquisite and vibrant makeup. Her petite face was as dazzling as a precious gem. Her eyes were watery, and she had draped a long black coat over her shoulders. Underneath, she wore a red lace dress. Her beautifully curved figure and pair of slender and graceful legs were mesmerizing.

"Hey, wipe off your drool," Evelyn walked up to William and snapped her fingers.

William swallowed his saliva and blushed in embarrassment. "Evelyn, you... you look beautiful."

"At least you are Landon's chief secretary. Can you not make a fool of yourself every time you see a beautiful woman?" Evelyn shook her head helplessly.

The Rolls-Royce drove to the KS World Hotel.

The stunning female CEO appeared in the restaurant like an angel without anyone noticing. Even though she was such an enchanting top beauty, all the employees trembled like mice in front of a cat. They didn't dare to take a breath, filled with genuine fear and respect.

After yesterday's lesson, they dared not be lazy today. The hotel's marble floors sparkled, and all the ingredients were fresh.

After inspecting the area and providing a few suggestions, Evelyn returned to her office.

"I don't have much to do here for now. William, go to Landon," Evelyn said.

"There's no need for me to go back. Mr. Taylor said that I should stay with you from now on. I am your secretary," William said with a smile.
"What!"

Evelyn exclaimed, her eyes wide open. "Landon said he would give me a gift today. It can't be you, can it?"

William blinked his eyes and nodded.

What a surprise!

Landon knows how to give gifts. He actually gave her a living person!

Seeing Evelyn silent for a long time, William became a little panicky. "Ms. Taylor, is it because you don't want me since I am a used secretary?"

Evelyn was stunned. "Used secretary? No, you have rich work experience!"

"Hehe, then please teach me more in the future! I'm not asking for much, just a higher annual salary!" William joked.

"Money is not a problem. As long as you do well, I'll make you a millionaire. Otherwise, I'll make you a third-hand secretary." Evelyn supported her chin with her hand and smiled.

William took a sharp breath and quickly reported on the current progress of his work.

"All the beds from Eilie Furniture that you arranged yesterday have been replaced. And I have notified all the hotels under KnightSpear Group nationwide to replace the beds from Eilie Furniture within a week."

At this moment, an urgent knock sounded from outside the door.
