Chapter 299: I'm Not Your Brother, I'm Your Man
Jessica was completely stunned, "Eric, what are you talking about? Are you disowning me as your sister?"
Eric acted as if he hadn't heard her, focusing solely on Molly in his arms, gently stroking her trembling back, comforting her, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. Your brother is back. No one will dare to hurt you anymore."
But this time, Molly wasn't as obedient as before. She bristled like a little hedgehog; even her rapid breathing was a sign of resistance against Eric. She denied, "No, you're not my brother. You're Jessica's brother."
Molly's soft and weak hands kept pushing against Eric's firm chest. Each push felt like a sharp needle stabbing into his heart, causing immense pain. She insisted, "Let me go. I want to go home. I want to find Grandpa. I want to go home!"
"Molly, be good," Eric's eyes were bloodshot, but he stubbornly tried to soothe her.
"Let go, let go!"
No matter how much Molly cried and screamed, Eric refused to let go, not even a little.
Instead, he held her tighter. His rough, strong hand gripped her slender waist through her white dress, leaving red marks on her soft, pale skin. Then, his bloodshot eyes narrowed slightly as his thin lips brushed against her ear, whispering hoarsely: "You're right. I'm not your brother. I'm your man, Molly."
Jessica's pupils widened in shock as she watched Eric shower Molly with love and care. Molly, whom she had bullied since childhood and believed she could continue to bully for a lifetime. She felt as if her heart had been hollowed out, her soul on the verge of shattering.
This pain was excruciating, far worse than finding out Edward liked Evelyn!
Eric was the most important man in her life. She had always thought that as his sister, she could be willful and reckless under his protection for a lifetime. But now, she felt like she was losing that exclusive protection.
He was going to give it all to Molly!
"My man?" Molly looked up, her wet eyes filled with confusion that made his heart ache.
"Yes, I'm your man," Eric's voice was gravelly, his eyes burning with intense fire.
Jessica's once dazzling life was on the brink of collapse.
Ellen, hiding in the shadows, smiled in satisfaction as she watched Eric passionately confess to Molly.
Molly relived her childhood trauma after being beaten and triggered by Jessica's appearance. She was severely shaken and cried until she fainted in Eric's arms.
Eric carried her back to the room, using a clean towel to wipe her sweat and tears, then covered her with a blanket.
Molly turned over, her delicate brows furrowed in discomfort.
His heart ached, tightening with a mix of anger and guilt. His handsome face turned pale with a murderous look. He apologized, "I'm sorry, Molly. I didn't protect you. It's all my fault."
Ellen walked in quietly, standing there hesitantly, afraid to disturb Eric.
"Speak," Eric gently stroked the girl's cheek while his expression was cold.
"I've downloaded the surveillance footage you wanted to see," Ellen said. She approached, respectfully handing him the phone.
Out of lacking a sense of security, Eric had installed dozens of cameras in the villa, that's why he had rushed back so quickly.
There were almost no blind spots. Besides, Eric's phone could remotely monitor the villa in real-time.
Eric coldly stared at the screen with a grim expression.
From the moment Jessica entered, to her ordering people to control Carol, then barging in to hit Molly and kicking her. Eric was silent for a long time.
"Eric, you see..." Before Ellen could finish, she felt a sharp pain in her wrist!
Eric's bloodshot eyes seemed ready to unleash a destructive fire. He suddenly swung his hand, sending Ellen's phone flying!
"Eric, calm down," Ellen quickly stepped back, bowing deeply.
But Eric, filled with rage, had already stormed out.
Downstairs.
Jessica sat anxiously on the sofa, sweating profusely and surrounded by four bodyguards, unable to leave.
"Ms. Clark, Mr. Clark is furious. What should we do?" The female secretary knelt at her feet, clutching her leg in panic.
"How should I know!" Jessica retorted.
The sound of heavy footsteps echoed.
Eric, followed by Ellen, walked in, and the entire living room was filled with a chilling, hellish cold.
"Eric," Jessica called out weakly. Seeing that throwing a tantrum wouldn't work, she could only play innocent and pitiful.
"You hit Molly and kicked her. I saw it clearly on the surveillance footage," Eric took a deep breath, struggling to contain his overwhelming anger.
If Jessica weren't his biological sister, what would have happened was unimaginable.
"Eric, I was just momentarily confused. You've watched me grow up. When have I ever hit anyone before? I'm even scared of caterpillars. I've never done anything like this before!" Jessica blushed, trying to defend herself.
However, Eric remained expressionless, his emotions unreadable.
"It was her! She instigated me!" Jessica's eyes shifted slightly, and she kicked the female secretary away. "It was all her! She kept fanning the flames and inciting me to act against Molly from the moment I got off the plane! I already disliked Molly, and with her instigation, how could I hold back? She made me do this!"
"No, it's not true. I didn't," the female secretary knelt there, trembling, wanting to refute but too scared to do so.
"Why do you hate Molly? What did she ever do to you?" Eric asked, his gaze dark and brooding.
"She, she..." Jessica was momentarily choked up, blurting out an excuse, "She's an idiot, and she even tried to seduce you! How could I allow such a woman to marry you?"
"You think I need your approval to choose a woman?" Eric's eyes narrowed, letting out a laugh that was more terrifying than anger.
"I..." Jessica was on the verge of tears, her heart freezing over.
"It seemed you misunderstand something," Eric recalled the joyful figure in the snow and Molly's soft, kissable lips, feeling his blood heat up. "She didn't seduce me; I was the one who seduced her. I want to be with her."
Jessica's vision went black.
Molly, who had always been trampled on by her, was about to rise above her!
"Ellen," Eric said.
"Yes, Eric." Ellen stepped forward.
"Get this woman out of here. I don't want to see her again."
Eric's cold words were a death sentence for the female secretary.
"Mr. Clark! It wasn't me; it was Ms. Clark who made me do it! Mr. Clark!" The female secretary shouted. No matter how much she cried and screamed, it was in vain.
Ellen waved her hand indifferently, then two burly security guards came up and dragged the female secretary out like a sack of potatoes.
Jessica was petrified with fear, unable to move! This was the first time in her life she had seen Eric deal with someone in front of her.
"Besides me and Ellen, and a few trusted people around me, no one else knows about this private villa. Including you and Mother," Eric lowered his long lashes, took out an exquisite cigarette case from his pocket, and placed a cigarette between his thin lips. "So, who tipped you off?""
Jessica trembled in luxurious thick fur coat, and her cold sweat soaked through it.
"Everyone around me knows my temper. The thing I hate the most is betrayal," Eric lit the cigarette with a gloved hand, exhaled a puff of smoke, asking calmly, "Jessica, who told you that Molly and I were staying here?"
Jessica was lost for words with her pale face.
Eric was her brother, who had always pampered and loved her. But at this moment, all she felt towards him was fear and terror.
"You don't know? It's okay, I know," As he finished speaking, two bodyguards dragged in Alfonso, who was already half-dead, leaving a trail of blood in the living room.
Jessica covered her mouth in horror.
"Alfonso, you've been with me for ten years. I've treated you well. If it weren't for me, you would have been beaten to death on the streets long ago," Eric sat leisurely on the chair Ellen brought over. "Is this how you repay me? Pretending to be loyal to me while currying favor with Jessica as a double agent?"
"Ms. Clark, save me," At this point, Alfonso had no way out and could only plead with Jessica.
Jessica quickly turned her face away, feeling disgusted at the sight of his disfigured face.
"Ellen, follow the old rules," Eric said, taking a slow drag of his cigarette.
"Yes, Eric," Ellen walked over to Alfonso, unchanging her expression. She grabbed his jaw and swiftly inserted a knife into his mouth.
The sound of painful whimpers and the squelching of flesh and blood was nauseating and made one's scalp tingle!
Alfonso's tongue was forcibly cut off!
Jessica screamed, fainting from the shock.
After that night, there was no news from Edward.
For three nights in a roll, Evelyn had nightmares, each one involving Edward. Although dreams often mean the opposite, they felt too real. And the bloodstain at Gilbert's doorstep kept haunting her, making her feel uneasy and fearful.
"Evelyn, here's the second course of medication," Donna knocked and entered, placing the medicine in front of her.
Evelyn, who was packing to return to Mugden, put down her things and happily took the bottle, "Thank you, Aunt Donna."
"No need to thank me. I'll do my best to give you whatever you want," Donna lovingly stroked her beautiful hair, asking suddenly, "By the way, how is Edward's injury?"
"Are you concerned?" Evelyn was slightly surprised.
"Of course not!" Donna quickly explained, afraid of any association with Edward. "He's taking the medicine our company developed, so naturally, I want to know how he's doing. I'm concerned about the effectiveness of the medication."
Evelyn pursed her lips, feeling a bit frustrated, "He seems fine, no major issues. But Aunt Donna, what are the side effects of this medication?"
This medication for treating organ injuries was still in clinical trials and hadn't been officially released. But to treat Edward's injury, Evelyn had taken the risk of using it on him first. Otherwise, Edward's condition would have worsened, leaving permanent damage.
Donna shook her head and sighed, "I don't know, which is why I asked about his condition. But there are two things to be particularly careful about while taking this medication."
Evelyn quickly asked, "What are they?"
"First, avoid external injuries. You know, the body needs to rest. And secondly, try not to get angry or overly emotional. It can be detrimental to the healing process and may even worsen the injury."
Evelyn's breath caught, her brows furrowing. Thinking of that bloodstain, her heart ached with a dull pain.
