Chapter 349 Evelyn Confronts Tiffany

The hall was dead silent, and Evelyn's powerful presence intimidated everyone.

Her aura was no less intimidating than Maurice, who had connections in both the underworld and the legitimate world!

Tiffany initially had a mischievous smile, thinking Evelyn had come to confront Jessica over Edward after hearing that the Clark family was pressuring him into marriage.

She was expecting some drama, but Evelyn's direct approach left her puzzled!

"Ms. Taylor, you're looking for me? I don't think we have any issues between us. What do you want?" Tiffany asked with a surprised look, forcing a smile.

"Any issues between us ended the day I divorced Mr. Wellington." Evelyn's tone was casual, devoid of emotion. "But your issues with an old acquaintance of yours are far from over."

Her words shocked everyone!

"Jessica! What is Ms. Taylor talking about? Ex-wife? What's going on?" Maurice stared at Jessica, utterly incredulous.

"Grandpa, I mentioned it to you before." Jessica timidly reminded him.

"Mentioned it? When did you mention it? I may be old, but I'm not senile! When did you ever tell me Edward was divorced?"

Maurice had spent most of the past year recuperating abroad, leaving the domestic business to Eric and Neil. He truly didn't know that Edward had been married and divorced, and that his ex-wife was Charlie's daughter, Evelyn!

A feeling of being deceived welled up inside him!

"Mr. Clark, so what if Mr. Wellington has been divorced once?"

May couldn't hold back any longer and retorted, "Even if Mr. Wellington had been divorced eight times, there would still be a line of women wanting to marry him stretching to your front door! Besides, doesn't your granddaughter want to marry him too? She doesn't mind, so what do you have to say?"

"Who do you think you are to speak here!" Maurice shouted in anger.

"This is Riverside Villa. I can say whatever I want, and it's not up to you to control me," May snorted coldly, turning her face away from him.

Maurice was so angry he was fuming!

Patrick had been holding back all evening, and now that May had jumped in to confront Maurice, he felt a secret sense of satisfaction!

Edward's breath hitched, his heart pounding as he strode over to Evelyn, lowering his voice, "Evelyn, if you have something to say, tell me. I can help you."

"What? Afraid I'll ruin your plans?"

Evelyn's gaze was cold and sharp as she whispered in a voice only they could hear, "Don't worry, I won't disrupt your family meeting. I'm only here for Tiffany. Once I'm done, I'll leave."

"If you have a problem, I'll help you," Edward insisted, his brow furrowed, complex emotions swirling in his eyes.

"You can't solve it, and I don't need you to."

Evelyn avoided Edward's intense gaze and turned to Tiffany, her eyes devoid of any warmth.

"Ms. Taylor, you came all this way. Feel free to take a seat before you leave. But there's nothing for us to talk about."

Tiffany raised her chin slightly, arrogantly arching an eyebrow, "As for your old acquaintance, I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Nothing to say about Joyce?" Evelyn's gaze was icy, her tone chilling.

Tiffany's heart tightened, her shoulders trembling slightly!

Why was Evelyn bringing this up? Had she discovered something? Did Trevor betray her?

Impossible, absolutely impossible!

Evelyn was just trying to trick her!

"Ms. Taylor, why don't we find another time to talk, or you can come by tomorrow."

Patrick sensed the tension and quickly tried to send Evelyn away, "As you can see, we have guests right now, and it's really not convenient."

Evelyn's eyes, which had been smiling, suddenly turned cold. Just as she was about to speak, Edward grabbed her wrist and, in front of everyone, dragged her upstairs, not giving her a chance to resist!

"What are you doing, Edward! Let go!" Evelyn's cheeks flushed as she struggled to break free, but to no avail.

May covered her mouth, her eyes full of excitement.

"Edward! Edward, where are you going? Come back here!"

No matter how much Patrick shouted, Edward didn't look back, quickly leading Evelyn out of the hall.

The Clark family was left standing there, the atmosphere extremely awkward.

Especially Jessica, who was seething with rage, her eyes red with fury!

As soon as Evelyn appeared, no matter where she was or who was around, she instantly became the center of attention!

Jessica suddenly began to understand.

Her overwhelming hatred for Evelyn might not be entirely because Evelyn was the woman Edward loved, her rival in love.

She also deeply hated and envied the invisible, dazzling aura that Evelyn possessed!

In Jessica's world, she could not tolerate anyone outshining her.

"Dad! Mom! I'm back!"

Debra came running in, out of breath.

She had changed into a new, appropriate outfit to meet people, but still looked like she had just woken up, with dark circles under her eyes and reeking of alcohol.

Tiffany was so disgusted by Debra's appearance that she wished she could shove her head into a toilet and flush it away! How embarrassing!

"Debra, where have you been, and why do you smell like alcohol?" Patrick asked, frowning as he looked her over.

"I, I was out drinking with friends." Debra couldn't hold back and let out a big belch.

"Someone, help her upstairs to rest!" Tiffany quickly ordered.

"Jessica!" Debra, emboldened by the alcohol, ran straight to Jessica, grinning, "Congratulations, you're about to marry Edward!"

Maurice's brow furrowed deeply.

Sophia and Jessica's expressions turned grim.

"Debra, what do you mean by that? Are you mocking me, or are you just drunk?"

Jessica, already filled with anger, was further provoked by Debra's words and snapped, "I know what you're thinking. You're just mad because you wanted to marry Eric and asked me to help set you up, and I didn't, so now you hold a grudge."

Maurice's gaze on Debra changed again, and he clicked his tongue.

Thank goodness Eric had some sense and didn't take an interest in Debra. Otherwise, it would have been a family disaster!

"You!" Debra's eyes widened in anger, and Jessica sneered, "No matter how unwilling you are, there's nothing you can do. Eric just doesn't like you."

Debra clutched her chest, laughing in anger, "And Edward doesn't like you either!"

"You!" Now it was Jessica's turn to be furious.

"When I came back, I saw Evelyn's limited edition Bugatti parked at the villa entrance. Looks like she's already here?"

Debra put one hand on her hip and yawned, "I see Edward isn't here. Did he leave with Ms. Taylor and leave you hanging again?"

"Debra!" Jessica's eyes were red with rage, and she looked like she wanted to tear Debra apart!

"Jessica, that's just how Edward is. You'll get used to it once you marry him." Debra continued, getting more and more excited, "When he was married to Evelyn, he was always thinking about Nicole. Even when he's with you, he won't forget Evelyn."

Everyone was stunned.

This was no longer simple; it was a full-blown argument!

If it weren't for the presence of the elders from both families, Jessica would have already been fighting with Debra!

"Debra! Have you had too much to drink? What nonsense are you spouting?"

Tiffany's face turned crimson as she shouted, "Get her out of here!"

"Edward! Let go! Let go of me!"

Edward walked briskly ahead, with Evelyn following closely behind, her wrist aching from his grip.

He had been angry for a long time and had finally found an outlet for his frustration—her!

"Where are you taking me?" Evelyn demanded angrily.

"You were once my wife, and this was your home for three years. You know every room here better than I do." Edward didn't look back.

"Edward, are you just too self-righteous, or do you think you know me well?"

Evelyn suddenly raised her wrist and bit down hard on Edward's arm.

Edward felt the pain and instinctively let go.

Evelyn quickly stepped back, clutching her wrist, which was red from his grip, and glared at him with resentment, "I never considered this place my home. I never felt a sense of belonging here. To me, this place was always a cage!"

But this cage had once trapped not her body, but her heart.

Edward's heart ached, and although he was angry with her, the pain was intense.

His eyes narrowed, and he took a big step forward. While she was distracted, he wrapped his strong arm around her waist and pulled her close.

Evelyn let out a startled cry, and the next second, he lifted her up, her slender hands instinctively clutching his shirt.
