Chapter 133 Encountering Danger
Evelyn went back to the karaoke bar, feeling more sober after throwing up, but her good mood was gone.
'Getting together with Jennifer was hard enough, and now I had to run into Edward.'
Just then, a pair of warm little hands grabbed her arm.
Evelyn's eyes darkened, but she forced a smile when she saw Jennifer.
"I'm fine."
"Evelyn, was that guy bothering you your ex?" Jennifer asked, holding her waist to support her.
"Yeah," Evelyn replied softly.
"Wow, he's so handsome!"
Jennifer's eyes sparkled. "I thought our brothers were good-looking, but he’s right up there!"
Evelyn rubbed her forehead, trying not to complain, but Jennifer kept talking, getting more excited.
Since it was late, Jennifer stayed at Evelyn's villa for the night to avoid disturbing her roommates.
Jennifer noticed that Evelyn, who usually handled her alcohol well, was quite drunk, rubbing her temples and lightly gasping while leaning against the car window.
"Evelyn, let me massage you." Jennifer gently placed her fingers on Evelyn's temples, softly massaging her.
Evelyn leaned into Jennifer's embrace, her breath fragrant, her smooth forehead glistening with sweat, even the alcohol fumes seemed pleasant.
Jennifer swallowed, deeply attracted to Evelyn despite being a woman herself.
'Honestly, who could look so beautiful and charming while drunk? It’s just unfair.'
Evelyn told the driver to stop at the entrance of the villa area. She liked to take a walk when tipsy to avoid feeling uncomfortable when she slept.
They walked hand in hand towards home.
The cool evening breeze, the bright moon, and the sparse stars in the tranquil scenery eased Evelyn's troubled mood.
Suddenly, her brows furrowed, and she abruptly stopped, tightly gripping Jennifer's hand.
"Evelyn? What's wrong?"
"Someone's following us," Evelyn whispered, alarmed.
Jennifer was startled, nervously looking around, her small hand held by Evelyn instantly breaking out in a cold sweat.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here. Whoever comes will regret it," Evelyn comforted softly, her lips curling coldly.
'I was already provoked by Edward tonight and am in a bad mood. Who dares to mess with me now?'
"Stop sneaking around, come out if you have the guts!" Evelyn shouted, her eyes sharp.
A disturbing noise came from the bushes.
Evelyn's eyes darkened as she quickly pulled Jennifer behind her to protect her.
Heavy footsteps approached. Virgil, in black sportswear and a black mask, tilted his neck and walked up to them.
Just looking at his physique, Jennifer was almost too scared to breathe!
Evelyn, however, remained calm. She knew Virgil was a trained fighter, but she was confident most people wouldn't be her match in a fight.
"Which one of you is Evelyn?" Virgil asked with a sinister look.
'He doesn't seem local.'
"I am. Show some respect," Evelyn said, raising her eyebrows arrogantly.
"Got it." Virgil flicked out a shiny dagger and swiftly lunged at Evelyn!
"Watch out!"
Jennifer felt a chilling intent and screamed in fear, but Evelyn quickly pushed her away.
"Jennifer! Run!"
'But how could I run? How could I leave Evelyn alone!'
Fists and feet clashed, creating gusts of wind.
In a blink, Evelyn had exchanged over a dozen moves with Virgil.
Jennifer watched, unable to take her eyes off the scene. 'This is more thrilling than an action movie!'
"Evelyn! Go for it!" she shouted.
Evelyn narrowly dodged Virgil's violent kicks, feeling speechless. 'Is this really the time for cheering?'
"Jennifer! Call the police, now!"
"Okay!" Jennifer snapped out of it, fumbling to pull out her phone.
Virgil never expected this seemingly delicate woman to have such skills, and not weak ones at that.
Seeing he couldn't subdue Evelyn, Virgil turned his attention to Jennifer and launched a vicious attack at her!
Jennifer's phone hit the ground, and she stood frozen in fear, eyes tightly shut.
A muffled groan was heard, and Jennifer opened her eyes in horror to see Evelyn had leaped in front of her, taking the blow with her arm! Her blazer was slashed open, and crimson blood dripped down.
"Evelyn!" Jennifer screamed, tears streaming down her face.
Evelyn panted, clutching her bleeding arm, the pain making her scalp tingle and sweat pour down her back.
'Virgil was out for blood!'
Just as Virgil raised his knife to stab Evelyn again, he suddenly leaned back—someone had grabbed his collar from behind.
Evelyn seized the opportunity, her eyes red with anger, and delivered a swift roundhouse kick, sending Virgil's weapon flying!
Next, Virgil let out a painful scream.
Evelyn watched in astonishment as Virgil's arms were dislocated as if they were toy pieces, in one smooth motion!
"It's you?!"
She was stunned, forgetting her pain, as she stared at Gilbert, who had Virgil pinned under his foot, looking refined and elegant like a moonlit night.
"What a coincidence, we meet again." Gilbert smiled gently, his expression as warm as a spring breeze.
He ground his high-end leather shoe into Virgil, making him pound the ground in pain.
"Evelyn!" William shouted as he ran towards them.
"William! Hurry, Evelyn is hurt!" Jennifer's eyes welled up with tears again as she saw William.
"Evelyn! What happened?!" William saw the pool of blood on the ground, his heart aching as if it were being torn apart, tears welling up in his eyes. "Who did this to you?!"
"Why are you here? Is Isla's illness cured that you came to find me?" Evelyn took a breath, her tone carrying a hint of reproach.
"Is this the time to worry about me? You need to go to the hospital immediately!" William felt as if the long gash was cut into his own body, his heart wrenching in pain. He bent down to pick Evelyn up.
Unexpectedly, Evelyn took a step back, stubbornly shaking her head. "The wound isn't deep, no need to make a fuss. Jennifer is scared enough, just take care of her, I'm fine."
"Evelyn." William's eyes went blank for a moment, clenching his fists helplessly.
Evelyn had always been a principled person, with a strength and resilience that rivaled any man. Even injured like this, she didn't shed a single tear.
"Evelyn, let William take care of you, I'm fine." Jennifer felt deeply guilty, tears streaming down her cheeks. "It's all my fault, I'm as dumb as a pig! If I hadn't held you back, you wouldn't have been hurt by this bad guy."
"Silly girl, what are you talking about?" Evelyn raised her hand to pinch her tear-streaked face, sighing. "It's my fault for involving you, I should be the one apologizing."
Meanwhile, two bodyguards from the Alexander family had Virgil tied up, loading him into a car.
"Are you alright?!" Curtis asked, his face pale with fear. 'Gilbert had moved so fast, I couldn't keep up!'
"I'm fine." Gilbert elegantly dusted off his clothes, lifting his cold, pale eyes to look at Evelyn.
His deep eyes were captivating.
Evelyn took a deep breath, walking straight up to Gilbert, and spoke gently, "Sir, thank you for your help. But this man is very important to me, can you let me handle him?"
Gilbert smiled lightly, "I can, but I have conditions."
"Just tell me." As soon as he finished speaking, Evelyn suddenly felt herself lifted off the ground, cradled in Gilbert's arms so quickly that even William didn't have time to react!
She gasped, her eyes meeting Gilbert's gentle gaze.
"First, we go to the hospital to treat your wound. After that, whatever you want, it's up to you."
