Chapter 10 Dream On

At the dining table, Sienna was scarfing down her food. Ashley couldn't help but chuckle. "Sienna, slow down. There's plenty. No one's gonna steal it from you."

"You don't get it. Eating your cooking is like hitting the jackpot. Seriously, it's heavenly. Every bite is worth it. I wonder which lucky guy will get to enjoy your amazing dishes in the future."

Ashley laughed. "After dinner, let's hit the mall. I need to grab some stuff and hire a cleaning lady."

"Sure thing."

Meanwhile, Ethan was having lunch at a fancy restaurant when his phone buzzed.

He glanced at the caller ID, his expression turning cold. "Hello."

Ava's voice came through. "Ethan, I just wrapped up my shoot. I'll be back in a few days. Miss me?"

Ethan thought about the investigation he had ordered a few days ago, his voice turning icy. "I need to ask you something."

"Go ahead," Ava replied.

"That night we had planned, something happened to me. Later, when I checked the surveillance, I saw you bumping into a girl in the lobby, and your room cards got mixed up... She went into the room, and you left the hotel."

"Why did you leave halfway that night? Was it an accident, or..."

Ethan didn't finish, but the implication was clear.

Ava said, "Ethan, what do you mean by this? I don't understand..."

Ethan sneered, unsure if she genuinely didn't get it or was just playing dumb. But he had the evidence. He only trusted evidence.

"Ethan, are you mad at me? I was wrong. When I come back this time, I..."

Ethan hung up before she could finish.

He rubbed his temples, thinking that the misunderstanding with Ashley might have been Ava's doing, and his heart felt cold.

Suddenly, the food in front of him tasted like cardboard...

Ashley and Sienna drove to the mall, loaded up on household items, and hired a part-time cleaner. By the time they got home, it was already dark.

After organizing everything, it was 8 p.m.

Sienna collapsed on the couch, chatting on the phone with her husband.

Ashley headed to the kitchen to whip up dinner, filling the whole villa with mouth-watering aromas.

Curious voices drifted in from the surrounding area.

"Who made the food? It smells amazing!"

"The aroma is making my mouth water."

"Seems like it's coming from the new neighbors."

A crowd gathered outside Ashley's door, chatting excitedly.

Ethan drove up and noticed the commotion across the street. He didn't think much of it, parked his car, and headed inside.

He made a quick call. "Diannel, bring the documents I left at the old house and the urgent company files to Liam."

After hanging up, Ethan went to freshen up.

Ashley stepped out and saw the crowd. "Hello everyone, I'm the new neighbor. Have you had dinner? Come join us."

"Well, if you insist, we won't say no."

Ashley smiled and invited them in.

She glanced at the house across the street. The car was in the garage, which meant the owner was home.

Ashley thought it would be good to get to know her neighbors.

"Why is this food so delicious?"

"This is the best meal I've ever had. I'm so lucky..."

Ashley laughed at their comments, then went to the kitchen, packed some dishes and rice in a food container, and walked across the street.

"Is anyone there?"

"Can I help you?"

Liam, who had just arrived, saw someone knocking before he could step inside.

"Hi, I'm the new neighbor from across the street. I'm here to say 'Hi'. This is a little gift for you."

"Thank you."

Liam took the food container, and Ashley headed back home.

Ethan came out of the bathroom, wearing a bathrobe that revealed his chiseled collarbone.

"Mr. Yates, I brought the documents for you, and the new neighbor across the street sent this as a welcome gift."

Ethan glanced at the food container and said indifferently, "Leave it. I need to work. Liam, you'll stay here from now on."

"Yes, Mr. Yates."

Liam placed the food container and documents down and left the room.

Ethan looked at the food on the table, opened the container, and the aroma instantly whetted his appetite. He picked up the fork and started eating.

'This is so delicious!'

Ethan thought, 'Could the neighbor be an old lady? Otherwise, how could the cooking be so exquisite?'

In no time, Ethan finished all the food in the container.

"Ashley, did you give the welcome gift to the neighbor? Who lives across the street?"

"I did. An old man lives there."
