Chapter 258 A Surprise from the Bossy Mr. Yates
Ashley didn't even notice Liam was totally zoned out.
After they left, Yara got all teary-eyed. She sighed, stroked unconscious Nora's face, and said, "Nora, I can't believe we ran into your dad here. Too bad he's got a girlfriend now."
Ivy, who was eavesdropping outside, almost lost it when she heard Yara. She had to cover her mouth to keep from screaming.
"Your dad doesn't know you exist. If we mess up his relationship, will he hate us?" Yara sniffled, her voice breaking. "Nora, maybe Mommy should just take you away."
Ivy, still in shock, ran off, trembling.
Oh my God, what bombshell did she just stumble upon?
Yara had been so bold in her pursuit of Ethan back then, but who would've thought they had a secret fling and even a secret kid? If Michael found out, could she use this to get back into the Yates family? This was like a gift from the universe!
With that thought, a plan started brewing in Ivy's mind, each step more cunning than the last. 'Fate's on my side,' she thought, a sly grin spreading across her face. She grinned and happily dashed to the lab...
An hour later
Ivy came back to the inpatient department to see Felicity.
"Ma'am, are you related to the patient? She's six weeks pregnant. Congrats!" a nurse said.
Ivy clutched the pregnancy report, over the moon. "Awesome! This is double good news. The universe is totally helping me get back into the Yates family!"
Meanwhile, Ashley and Ethan had no clue about the storm brewing. When they left the ward, Ethan saw Ashley holding Liam's arm and calling him, and he couldn't help but snort, feeling super jealous.
"Liam, Ethan and I are hitting up a charity event tonight. Be careful on your way home," Ashley said, helping Liam with the car door. Just as she was about to pull it open, Liam snapped out of it and quickly stepped forward to open it himself. "Ashley, no way I'm letting you open the door for me. I'll head back first. You two stay safe."
"Okay."
They waved goodbye, and Ashley watched Liam's car drive off.
Ethan stepped up, wrapped his arm around Ashley's waist, and said, "Let's roll."
Ethan said in a bossy tone, "Even though you and Liam are like siblings now, you still gotta keep your distance. From now on, your hand can only hold mine, no one else's, not even Liam's!"
Ashley was amused by his possessiveness. She held Ethan's hand and said, "You're so bossy."
Ethan gave a devilish grin. "Yeah, that's me all right, but you love it."
Ashley's face turned red, her heart racing at his flirty words. She glared at him playfully and then asked curiously, "By the way, Nora's mom was staring at you earlier. Do you know her?"
"Nora's mom?" Ethan squinted, trying to remember the woman, but came up blank. He replied coldly, "I don't know her."
Ashley was taken aback.
Did she misread the situation? She felt like Yara's look at him was different.
Feeling a bit uneasy but seeing Ethan's expression, she decided to trust him.
Ethan wrapped his arm around Ashley's waist again and said, "Let's go pick out a dress. Don't be shy at tonight's charity event."
He wanted to give her a wedding anniversary gift she'd love.
"Okay." Ashley didn't think much of it, just assuming they were going to the charity event. They both got into the car and left.
Little did they know, shortly after they left, Liam came back to the hospital.
Liam got out of the car, staring at the hospital building with a troubled look. After seemingly gathering a lot of courage, he finally walked back inside.
Ethan took Ashley to pick out a dress. While Ashley was trying on dresses, Ethan sneaked onto the balcony to call Dianne.
Ethan kept his eyes on Ashley through the floor-to-ceiling glass as he asked, "How's everything going on your end?"
"Mr. Yates, don't worry. Tonight, Mrs. Yates will be the happiest woman." Dianne sounded confident.
"If you pull this off, I'll reward you with a year's salary!" Before Ethan hung up, he heard Dianne's excited cheers.
Ethan gazed deeply at Ashley, who was laughing heartily inside. Tonight, he had a surprise planned to make her the happiest woman in the world.
7:30 PM
After dinner, Ethan took Ashley to the charity event as planned.
As soon as Ethan's luxury car stopped at the event entrance, it instantly grabbed everyone's attention.
"It's the CEO of the Yates Group, Ethan!" a reporter shouted.
Under the spotlight, Ethan stepped out of the luxury car. Today, he was rocking a suit that perfectly showcased his impeccable physique. His handsome features became the focus of the entire event. The crowd buzzed, "Wow, Mr. Yates is so good-looking. He's incredibly handsome!"
Just then, a long leg extended from the luxury car, and a pair of high heels encrusted with jewels came into view.
Ethan turned around, and the cold look in his eyes softened. He extended his hand, inviting the woman inside the car to step out.
Ashley emerged from the car, gracefully bending low, her gown a vision that drew gasps and envious stares from everyone around her.
"Oh my God, it's Mrs. Yates. She looks stunning tonight!" someone shouted.
"Let's go." Ashley held Ethan's arm, and the two walked into the venue side by side.
"Mr. Yates and Mrs. Yates, welcome to tonight's charity event."
