Chapter 9 Swipe the Card
Ashley was caught off guard by his words and just stood there, stunned.
Ethan found her shocked expression hilarious. This girl had some serious acting chops; it'd be a waste if she didn't go into showbiz.
Ashley forced a laugh. "If you pull something like that, your grandpa would be heartbroken."
Ethan smirked, "I'm just facing reality, trying to survive. With that pitying tone, why not sponsor me? I'll make sure to keep you entertained."
He leaned in closer, his words tickling her ear, his breath warm against her cheek, dripping with innuendo.
Ashley's face turned bright red, and she glared at him. "I swear I'll smash your shameless face with my shoe."
Ethan just shrugged casually, making Ashley furious.
"Shameless!" She turned and walked away.
Ethan's lips curled into a cold smile as he followed the manager to the VIP room.
"Ashley, what were you talking about with that guy? It looked pretty flirty."
"Come on, that was the guy who slept with me last night."
"No way, I'm gonna go settle this."
"Forget it; I'm moving today. Let me treat you to a meal."
"Sounds good."
But Sienna kept glancing in the direction Ethan had gone. He looked oddly familiar, like she'd seen him somewhere before.
"Mr. Yates, which villa do you prefer?"
"That one."
Ethan pointed, and the manager smiled. "Alright, Mr. Yates, please wait."
"Okay."
Ethan and Ashley finished the paperwork at the sales office. Holding the keys, Ashley said, "Sienna, since your husband's on a business trip, why not stay with me for a few days? It's lonely living alone."
"Sure."
They drove to the Maple Grove Estate villa area.
"Number 198, here it is."
Ashley opened the door and set up the password lock.
"Wow, Ashley, this place is huge. It must be lonely for you to live here alone. I can't always keep you company. Why don't you find someone and get married? Then you'll have someone to look after you."
Ashley sighed, "I'm not ready to get married yet."
Sienna said, "Ashley, you're so incredible. I can't imagine what kind of guy would be lucky enough to be with you. My husband mentioned some impressive Old Money heir in Aurora. He's handsome and rich. Only someone like that would be good enough for you."
Ashley laughed. "What's his name?"
Sienna scratched her head. "Pregnancy brain, I can't remember."
"Forget it, come on, I'll cook you a meal."
"You're the best! I'm so lucky to have you!"
Ethan drove to the villa area, holding his keys. "Number 197, here it is. Living out here is so peaceful, no more Grandpa nagging about marriage."
He opened the door and sat down, his stomach growling.
Just then, the aroma of food from the house across the street caught Ethan's attention.
He got up and drove out to find food.
Ashley had just stepped out when Ethan drove past her.
"Sienna, I'm going to bring some food to the neighbor."
Ashley knocked on the door across the street, but there was no answer.
Sienna, her cheeks puffed out from eating, called out, "Ashley, it looks like no one's home. Come back and eat."
"Okay."
Ashley turned back inside, ready to enjoy lunch.
