Chapter 236 Doris Causes Trouble
Ethan looked confused, "Who?"
Thomas replied, "Ms. Jones from the Jones family, Doris Jones."
And just like that, the drama kicked off.
Ethan narrowed his eyes, his voice dripping with menace, "Let her in."
"Ethan!" Ivy's voice was all shaky, "Why are you letting her in?"
For some reason, Ivy was freaking out, like some big secret was about to blow up.
"She'll just mess everything up. Just send her away." Ivy was desperate to keep Ethan and Doris apart.
"All my life, I've heard you two bicker about her. I wanna see what all the fuss is about!"
"Thomas, bring her in," Ethan ordered.
"Got it." A moment later, Thomas brought Doris into the living room.
Doris strutted in, looking sharp in her business suit and medium-length hair. Even in her middle age, she still had it going on.
As soon as she walked in, Ivy bristled like a porcupine, "Doris, what are you doing here?"
Doris smirked, "I heard Mr. James Yates and Mrs. Ivy Yates are getting back together. I'm here to congratulate you."
As she spoke, Doris's eyes locked onto Ethan.
Ethan had been checking her out since she walked in. When their eyes met, there was this weird vibe.
Ethan felt a strange twinge. This woman seemed like a ghost from his past.
In his head, Doris was always this greedy, selfish, arrogant, and loose woman.
But now, she looked like a sharp businesswoman.
Ethan frowned.
Seeing them eyeing each other, Ivy got all jittery. She stepped in between them and snapped, "Here to congratulate us? Yeah, right! What's your real game?"
Doris suddenly flashed a wicked grin, a smile so enchanting it was almost hypnotic.
Ashley blinked.
Why did that smile seem so familiar?
"You have sharp eyes!" Doris and Ivy had always been at each other's throats. Seeing Ivy about to remarry didn't make Doris jealous; it reminded her of all the crap Ivy had put her through. She just wanted to ruin Ivy's peace and drag her down.
"I'm here to have a word with Mr. Ethan Yates." Doris locked eyes with Ethan. Ethan looked up at her, and both felt this weird warmth.
That odd feeling was like the affection of long-lost relatives meeting after many years.
Ethan pushed down the strange emotions and said coldly, "Spit it out."
Doris was a bit taken aback. She didn't expect Ethan to be so icy. If her kid were still alive, she would've raised him to be the warmest person ever.
Doris said, "Mr. Ethan Yates, don't you feel like someone is missing from your family?"
As soon as she said that, Ivy lost it, "You vile woman, shut up!"
She seemed to know what Doris was about to spill.
James was furious, "Doris! Don't say it!"
With Doris's hint, Ethan finally clicked, "Where's my grandpa? I've been back for so long. Why haven't I seen him?"
Ivy's heart skipped a beat, and she went pale, collapsing onto the sofa.
James helplessly rubbed his forehead.
"I suggest Mr. Ethan Yates find out how Mr. Michael Yates ended up in the ICU before considering whether to agree to their remarriage!" Doris sneered.
Ethan's eyes widened, "My grandpa is in the ICU?"
He glared at James and Ivy, "What the hell happened?"
