Chapter 250 They Were Kidnapped

Nora was bawling her eyes out. "Ms. Wilson, help me!"

"Nora, stay still. Don't worry, I'll get you out of this!" Ashley panted. "Hey, man, let's talk this through. Let her go, she's just a little kid!"

As Ashley spoke, she edged closer.

The guy with the axe, all riled up, yelled, "Stay back, all of you!"

He swung the axe, and it looked like any second now, it would slice through Nora's neck.

Ashley was freaking out.

Even though Nora wasn't her real daughter, she had grown super attached to her and couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to her.

The crowd around them screamed and scattered, leaving a few brave souls behind, some recording on their phones, others dialing 911.

Ashley raised her hands in surrender and took a couple of steps back, "Okay, I'm backing off. Who are you, and why are you doing this?"

"It doesn't matter. I want to make a scene. I want everyone to know about the shady stuff the Yates Group is up to!" the guy shouted.

The Yates Group?

Hearing that, Ashley's mind went straight to Ethan's Yates Group, but then she realized this amusement park wasn't part of her husband's company. If this guy had beef with the Yates Group, he wouldn't be causing trouble here.

Ashley was sure the Yates Group he mentioned wasn't her husband's company.

The guy was super agitated, and Ashley was scared he'd hurt Nora, so she quickly said, "Don't get worked up. You want justice, right? You need a hostage. Take me instead. Let her go, okay?"

"Let me go," Nora sobbed, terrified.

The middle-aged guy with the axe looked down at Nora. He was a dad too and wouldn't have chosen this path if he wasn't desperate.

His heart softened a bit, but he still barked, "No funny business!"

"Don't worry, we're just swapping hostages. No tricks," Ashley said as she moved closer, "I'm coming over!"

"Don't hurt her, she's just a kid," Ashley repeated anxiously.

"You, come here, and no tricks," the guy said.

"Ms. Wilson, don't come over... this bad man will hurt you..." Nora cried.

Ashley and Nora weren't related by blood. Even if Ashley did nothing, no one would blame her.

But she had been a mom once, and seeing a kid in danger made her want to risk everything to save her.

Nora's worried look made her warm inside, and Ashley was even more determined to save her.

"Nora, don't worry, I'll save you!" Ashley said.

"Stop talking, come here!" The axe was pressed against Nora's neck, and her delicate skin was instantly cut, causing blood to appear.

Seeing this, Ashley's heart pounded, not out of fear for her own safety but for Nora's.

She held her breath, raised her hands in a surrender gesture, and slowly approached them...

Liam had gone to get ice cream for Nora. When he came back, he saw a crowd freaking out, running in all directions and shouting, "There's a murder!"

Liam's heart sank, and he grabbed someone to ask, "What's going on?"

A passerby replied, "Someone over there is killing people and has taken a kid hostage!"

Liam's eyelid twitched, and a bad feeling surged in his heart.

He ran towards the carousel, and as he pushed through the crowd, he saw Ashley slowly approaching the assailant. He was terrified.

He instinctively shouted, "Ashley! It's dangerous!"

He almost ran over, but the guy with the axe saw him and got more agitated, "Everyone back off, back off!"

By this time, Ashley had already approached the guy. In his agitation, he grabbed Ashley, holding both her and Nora hostage.

"If anyone dares to come closer, I'll kill them!" the guy shouted.

Liam froze, not daring to move.

Ashley shouted, "Liam, don't come over!"

Liam was as anxious as a cat on a hot tin roof, "Damn it, how did this happen? What should I do?"

"Sir, you have me now. Can you let her go?" Ashley asked.

"I've changed my mind!" the guy said fiercely. "Move back, go to that store, or I'll kill her."

The axe was still pressed against Nora's neck. Seeing the blood on her neck, Ashley's heart felt like it was bleeding.

Ashley nodded. "Okay, I'll go with you. Please move the axe away from her neck a bit. Don't hurt her; she's just a kid."

"Stop talking, move over there," the guy forced them towards an empty coffee shop.

Once inside, the guy found some rope to tie them together and then locked both the front and back doors.

"I'm scared..." Nora cried.

"I'm here, don't be afraid. I'll find a way to get you out of here..." Ashley comforted.
