Chapter 288 The Child's Biological Father
Ethan glanced at the knocked-out person on the bed and said, "Switch to a video call."
"Mr. Yates, it's about the second round of financing for the central location. The shareholders had a big blowout today. Half of them think we should sign with Josselin right away to avoid any delays, while some believe we should wait for your go-ahead before making a move," the guy said.
Big companies always have their cliques.
Ethan raised an eyebrow and said, "Give me a list of who's on which side."
"Mr. Yates, I've already got the list ready."
Ethan skimmed through the list. There were over 20 shareholders, with 12 wanting to sign with Josselin immediately and only 8 waiting for his call.
Seeing this, Ethan frowned.
Among these twenty shareholders, ten were old-timers who had worked with James, and the other ten had worked with Ethan. Unexpectedly, some had started to waver.
"Mr. Yates, the factional struggle is quite obvious, and it seems unbalanced..."
"Your name's Nick Lloyd, right?" Ethan asked.
Nick, being addressed for the first time, nodded excitedly, "Mr. Yates, yes."
Ethan said, "Diannel's gone to Maridia. You'll temporarily take over his spot. When he gets back, you'll report to him. Look into the disagreements among the board members on the down-low."
Nick nodded, "Mr. Yates, got it. I'll start digging right away!"
Nick asked, "And, what about the meeting?"
Ethan was mulling over the best time for the meeting when there was a knock on the door.
Liam peeked his head through the half-open door, "You busy now?"
Ethan said, "Mr. White, come on in."
Liam said, "I came to check on Ashley. She still out cold?"
Liam's acting skills could win him an Oscar.
"Since you're here, help me take care of Ashley. I gotta head to the company to handle some stuff," Ethan said.
Liam was still thinking about how to persuade Ethan to go to the Yates Group, but Ethan had already said it himself. Liam quickly replied, "Sure, don't worry. I'll take good care of her."
Ethan felt somewhat reassured leaving Ashley with Liam.
Ethan took a deep look at the woman on the bed, tucked her in, and said to Nick, "Let's roll."
Nick gathered the documents and followed Ethan out.
Before leaving, Ethan suddenly turned back, "Oh, and since you're at the hospital, remember to grab the report."
Liam said, "Got it."
After Ethan walked away, Liam said, "Ashley, it's cool now. Ethan's gone."
Ashley opened her eyes, took a deep breath, and hopped out of bed, bouncing a couple of times.
"Whoa, take it easy. You just had surgery. How can you be jumping around like that?" Liam said, worried.
"Liam, I hurt my back, not my legs. Why can't I bounce? I've been lying in bed so long I'm about to become a vegetable," Ashley shot back.
Liam looked at Ashley intently and said, "Ashley, why are you pretending to be out cold? Is there some big conspiracy or something?"
Ashley's face turned serious. She looked around the hallway to make sure no one else was around and pulled Liam aside, "It's super complicated. I can't explain it all right now. When I have more evidence, that'll be the day I wake up and call out Ivy!"
Liam gave a thumbs up, "You're really sharp!"
Just as he finished speaking, there was a knock on the door. Ashley gasped, thinking Ethan had come back, and quickly lay back on the bed.
Liam waited until she was settled before opening the door.
May entered the room, looking puzzled, "Why are you here?"
"I'm here to see my sister. Why can't I be here?" Liam said.
May raised an eyebrow. Ashley, hearing May's voice, got up, "May, you scared me. I thought Ethan had come back!"
May was surprised. Seeing that Liam wasn't shocked, she realized he already knew about Ashley's act.
"Ashley, I found out..." May hesitated, glancing warily at Liam.
Ashley was about to say there was no need to avoid Liam.
However, Liam said, "You two talk. I'll go get the report."
Liam tactfully left.
May said, "Ashley, I found the DNA of the biological father of Felicity's unborn child. It matches with Landon and Liam from the Yates family!"
Ashley was stunned, "It matches the White family blood type!"
Ashley recalled, "That day, both Ethan and Landon had incidents. Ethan always said he didn't touch Felicity, and Landon and Samantha were mistakenly thought to have had a relationship. So the one who was with Felicity was..."
May snapped her fingers, "It was Landon!"
Ashley held her head, feeling the twist was too much, "This is too wild. Is there enough evidence to prove it?"
May nodded, "Of course. As long as Landon goes to the hospital for a test. The situation speaks for itself; even without the test, the truth is undeniable."
Ashley replied, "I know. Besides Ethan, the only men at the Yates villa that day were Landon and Liam. But I can't understand why Felicity would do this. She kept insisting it was Ethan who wronged her, but the one who was with her was Landon."
