Chapter 280 Ashley's Car Accident
Ethan was hanging out downstairs at the Yates Group building, looking all kinds of worried. He kept checking his watch and glancing around, feeling super antsy. For some reason, his eyelids wouldn't stop twitching, giving him a seriously bad vibe.
Out of nowhere, a loud explosion rocked the distance!
A mushroom cloud shot up, and a crowd started gathering, all curious and stuff.
"What the heck just happened?" someone asked.
"Looks like something blew up!" a passerby said.
Ethan's heart was pounding like crazy, and his eyelids were going nuts. That bad feeling was getting worse, and without thinking, he bolted towards the explosion.
Ashley's car had smashed into a truck, causing a massive explosion. Luckily, Ashley had managed to run and was just thrown far by the blast. She was lying on the ground, covered in blood, out cold.
A crowd gathered, pointing and chatting, not noticing Lucas, who was wearing a mask, standing among them. Seeing Ashley unconscious, a flash of murderous intent crossed his eyes. He was holding a knife, ready to find an excuse to get closer when a familiar figure came running from a distance.
Ethan roared, "Move!"
For some reason, he was freaking out.
When he pushed through the crowd and saw the unconscious, blood-covered Ashley, he stumbled, almost hitting the ground!
His face went pale, and he looked devastated, like his heart had just stopped.
"Isn't that Mr. Yates?"
"Look, the unconscious woman seems to be Mrs. Yates!"
The crowd murmured, but Ethan couldn't hear a thing.
Who knew how much guts it took for him to step closer to the blood-covered Ashley.
He knelt beside her!
Usually cold and indifferent, he couldn't hold it together anymore. His eyes were filled with endless guilt and regret, tears welling up, wishing he were the one hurt instead.
Ethan had forgotten all about keeping up appearances. He was shaking all over, crying in agony, "Babe, wake up. Don't do this to me. You called me just ten minutes ago. How did this happen so fast?"
Ethan held the blood-soaked woman like she was the most precious thing in the world.
"Babe, wake up. Look at me. I'm begging you," he cried.
Seeing this, the people around were moved to tears.
Ethan was known for being aloof, but who would've thought that he'd break down in tears when faced with life and death like any regular person.
The sound of an ambulance grew closer. Medical personnel arrived at the accident scene, seeing Ethan and Ashley covered in blood.
"Hurry, get them to the emergency room!" doctors shouted.
Seeing the docs rush in, Ethan handed Ashley over and jumped into the ambulance with them. They sped to the hospital, and Ashley was whisked into the operating room. Ethan stood outside, looking like a mess, just waiting.
While he waited, he kept praying, 'Babe, you gotta be okay!'
The surgery dragged on for over two hours. It was the longest, most torturous wait of Ethan's life.
Finally, the operating room doors swung open.
"How's Ashley?" Ethan asked, all anxious.
"She's out of danger now. We'll keep her here for observation and see how she does," the doctor said.
Ethan let out a huge sigh of relief, "Thank you."
He even bowed to the doctors, leaving them a bit stunned by his sincerity.
In the hospital room
Ethan looked at the unconscious Ashley with a pained expression, gently stroking her cheek, feeling her warmth. His anxious heart started to calm down.
"Babe, thank God you're okay," Ethan choked up. "How did you end up in a car accident out of nowhere?"
He remembered Ashley had called him earlier, sounding like she had something important to say.
And then, bam, car accident!
He frowned, thinking there was something fishy about the whole thing.
He tried calling Diannel, but his phone was off. Then he noticed a text from Diannel from over an hour ago, saying he had gone to Maridia to investigate Josselin.
Ethan then called his buddy Ryan, "Ryan, I need you to look into something for me!"
After explaining the situation, Ryan said, "So, you think your wife found out some secrets and got silenced when she was rushing to tell you?"
Ethan nodded, "Exactly. Find out where she went today and who she met. I need to know everything."
"No problem. I'll swing by the hospital later," Ryan replied.
Lucas had tailed them to the hospital. Seeing Ashley come out of the operating room alive, he was about to make another move when he overheard Ethan's phone call.
Lucas's eyes flashed. Ethan, as expected of the Yates Group's president, had sharp instincts. Looked like he'd need to find another chance to strike!

The Addison family
Catherine got a call from Ivy, asking her to inform the Yates family about Felicity's pregnancy. Catherine said she'd pass on the message.
But after hanging up, she sneered and turned to tell George instead.
George raised an eyebrow, a glint of conspiracy in his eyes, "You mean Ethan has a woman on the side and got her pregnant? Interesting. I've got a new plan now."
