Chapter 104 The Amazing Hypnosis Technique
Ethan showed up at the fancy restaurant Ava had picked. They were in a swanky private room, totally soundproof.
Ava greeted him with a sweet smile. "Ethan, you're here. I ordered all your favorite dishes."
Ethan glanced at the table full of food but had no appetite. He sat down and cut to the chase. "I'm not here for dinner. I have questions."
Ava's smile faltered, but she tried to play it cool. "Ethan, it's rare for us to have dinner together. Why can't you just relax? Why not eat first and talk later?"
She pouted and picked up a glass of wine. "How about a drink first?"
Ethan pushed it away. "If your family was in trouble, would you be in the mood to drink?"
Ava was taken aback. "Sorry, I didn't think of that. You must be hungry. How about eating something first?"
"I don't want to waste time. Let's get to it."
Ethan asked, "What did you put in the cake you sent my mom? Why did she feel dizzy and pass out after eating it?"
Ava started to cry. "Ethan, why don't you believe me? I didn't harm them."
"Stop crying. Your tears mean nothing to me!"
Ethan's cold attitude drove Ava crazy, but she held it in.
"Ethan, what do you want to ask?"
"I had the cake tested at the hospital. Guess what the results were?"
Ava's face went pale, her eyes darting around. Ethan saw her guilt and panic, confirming his suspicions.
Ethan stood up. "Ava, I didn't expect you to be so cruel. You put a sedative in the cake, making my mom pass out and almost endangering my grandparents. Why would you do that?"
Ava shook her head frantically. "I didn't. How could I poison the cake? The report must be wrong."
Ethan was bluffing about the report. "The report is fine. It's your cake that's the problem."
Ava felt guilty but knew she hadn't put anything in the big cake. She had only sprinkled powder on the cut pieces, and the piece with the powder had already been eaten by Ivy, so it couldn't be detected.
In her panic, Ava guessed Ethan might be bluffing. "If that's the case, call the police and have me arrested. Go ahead, call the police!"
Ethan pressed his lips together, looking at her coldly. He wondered if he was overthinking things.
Seeing his hesitation, Ava hugged him. "Ethan, if I had done something bad, the police would have arrested me by now. Why are you trying to scare me?"
Ethan hesitated, unsure if he had wronged her or if she was just that cunning.
Seeing he didn't push her away, Ava smiled smugly and took a sip of wine.
Ethan was about to push her away, but she suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck. As he tried to push her off, she clung to him, kissing him and transferring the wine into his mouth.
Ethan's face turned ashen. He roughly pushed her away and covered his mouth, but the liquid had already entered his stomach. He felt dizzy. "You... how dare you..."
"Ethan, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Should I call a doctor?"
Ava helped him into a small adjoining room to rest.
In his dazed state, Ethan heard her say, "Mr. Todd, you can come out now. The patient is ready. I hope you can cure him."
