Chapter 284 The Twist
"Yo, Mr. Yates, sorry for the hassle. I'll grab my dad and bounce," Felicity said, trying to drag David away. But David wasn't having it. "Felicity, let go! Don't be scared of this jerk. With all these media folks around, he won't dare touch you!"
Felicity's teary, pitiful look had everyone feeling sorry for her, and soon enough, people started cursing Ethan.
Ethan shot Felicity a cold, dead-eyed stare.
Felicity kept pulling on David. "Dad, let's just go."
Ethan snapped, "You ain't going anywhere!"
His voice was like ice, "Since the media's here, let's set the record straight. The other day, you showed up at the Yates place, lying about me having a thing with you. Then you went to the hospital for a check-up, right?"
Felicity didn't see that coming and looked scared out of her mind.
Ethan, losing patience, barked, "Answer my question."
Felicity, looking like she was about to cry, muttered, "Yeah."
David, fuming, yelled, "Ethan, why are you shouting? Think my daughter’s easy to push around? We got proof you raped her. This report shows your fluids were found in her after the incident!"
He added, "From the timeline, it happened exactly six weeks ago, so the kid she's carrying is yours!"
The crowd went nuts!
Ethan smirked, "Oh, really."
Looked like they had their slander game on point.
Ethan turned to the crowd, and someone handed him a document.
Ethan said, "Here's a document showing that after the incident, Ms. Zito went to the hospital for a check-up but secretly bribed the doc to mess with the report!"
David shot back, "You're lying! This document's fake. You just don't wanna own up!"
Ethan said, "I got more than just papers; I got a witness!"
As he finished, the person who handed Ethan the document also gave the media a video. The reporters played it, and bam, four video clips popped up on the big screen.
The first video showed Felicity and Ivy in the hospital lobby at the same time. Then, Felicity disappeared from the camera's view for over 20 minutes.
The second video was a convo between Ethan and Matthias. By the end of it, Matthias had pretty much spilled the beans, leaving everyone stunned.
The third video was a selfie by Derek. He said, "Hey everyone, I'm Derek from Haven Hospital. I saw Ms. Zito bribing Matthias to mess with the report. I ran a test myself and found no DNA from Mr. Yates in her body."
The fourth video was Matthias confessing. "I'm Matthias from Haven Hospital. I'm really sorry for the mess I caused Mr. Yates. Ms. Zito gave me $20,000 to change the check-up report."
The crowd went wild.
Those who were trash-talking Ethan suddenly shut up.
David, fuming, yelled, "It's not like that!"
Felicity's face went pale, her eyes darting around.
Ethan sneered, "Got evidence and a witness. What now?"
David shouted, "None of this is true! He's just using dirty tricks to clear his name. Don't believe him!"
Everyone looked confused.
Ethan said, "Let's settle this. How about Ms. Zito gets a check-up right now, in front of everyone? You game?"
"Yeah, that's a good idea!" People started agreeing, and Felicity's face got even weirder.
David laughed, "A check-up it is! I'm not scared!"
Felicity whispered, "Dad, stop it."
"Felicity, let's go to the hospital!" David shouted.
Felicity felt like the world was crashing down. The crowd moved to the nearest hospital, and with everyone watching, she couldn't pull any tricks.
She felt like a puppet on strings.
An hour later...
Felicity's rushed check-up report was out.
Ethan took a look and smirked.
Ethan said, "Here's the check-up report Ms. Zito just did. Let's have the media announce the results!"
Felicity looked like she was about to faint.
A reporter read the result sheet and gasped, "The results show the fetus in Ms. Zito's womb isn't related to Mr. Yates!"
The crowd was stunned!
This twist was insane!
Ethan said, "The Zito family slandered me. I think the police would love to chat with you."
Right then, Ryan showed up with two cops, "You two are suspected of fraud and defamation. Come with us."
David, in shock, slapped Felicity hard and yelled, "Tell me, whose kid is it in your womb?"
