Chapter 5 You're in Perfect Health

Ashley was clearly taken aback. "You're his grandson?"

Ethan's eyes were icy. "You just don't give up, do you? You even used my grandpa to get close to me?"

Ashley looked at him like he was nuts. "I saved your grandpa, and instead of a thank you, you accuse me?"

Ethan narrowed his eyes. "It's awfully convenient that you are the one who saved my grandpa, isn't it?""

Ashley looked confused.

Ethan pressed on, "We bumped into each other so many times today. Is it coincidence or are you plotting something?"

Ashley laughed bitterly. "Too bad you don't have a brain to think with!"

Ethan scrutinized her, stepping closer. "The last person who crossed me is now six feet under."

His whole vibe was chilling, his eyes dark and unreadable, radiating power.

Ashley couldn't help but step back. As he advanced, she retreated until she was cornered against the wall.

"What are you doing?"

Ashley was scared.

"I warn you, this is a society governed by law. Killing is illegal..."

His demeanor and aura were not something a mere gigolo could possess. Where did things go wrong?

Ethan grabbed her chin, forcing her to look into his eyes. "Who sent you to get close to me?"

Their breaths mingled, creating a slightly tense atmosphere.

Ashley's chin hurt from his grip. "It hurts, let go. Why would I want to get close to you?"

Ethan sneered. "Tell the truth!"

His large hand suddenly gripped her neck, lifting her off the ground with one hand.

"You're crazy! You ruined my reputation and now you're accusing me. How can you do this to me? I really didn't try to get close to you. Let go..."

Ashley's face turned red from lack of oxygen, tears welling up in her eyes as she struggled to speak.

Ethan's gaze darkened as he looked at her pitiful expression, feeling a twinge of compassion. His grip loosened a bit.

With a thud, Ashley fell to the ground.

She greedily gasped for air.

Ethan took out a handkerchief to wipe his hands, saying coldly, "Watch your attitude."

Ashley thought this man was insane. Seeing his cold gaze, she thought he was going to strangle her again and quickly waved her hands. "You're awful. I don't want to see you again."

"Stop."

"Hmm?"

Ethan took out a check. "Take the money. This is your compensation. It should make up for what I've done to you!"

Ashley didn't want to take the money.

"Is it not enough?"

"No..."

She didn't want to take the check; accepting it would make her feel like a prostitute.

At that moment, a coughing sound came from the bed.

"Ethan..."

"Grandpa."

Ethan stuffed the check into her hand and turned to check on Michael Yates.

Ashley sighed and placed the check on the bedside table.

Just as she was about to leave, Michael's eyes flashed with a glimmer. "Young lady, thank you for saving me earlier."

Ashley smiled faintly. "It's nothing. I wouldn't have stood by if it were someone else."

Ethan glared at her, and Ashley received his warning look, rolling her eyes at him in annoyance.

Ashley said, "Sir, you should rest well. I'll head home now."

"Young lady, I'm so grateful to you. If you're willing, come stay with the Yates family for a few days so I can thank you properly."

Ashley unconsciously looked at Ethan, whose eyes were filled with a cold warning. She shivered and forced a smile. "Sir, there's no need to thank me. I won't disturb you any longer. Goodbye."

Actually, Michael had been awake for a while and had sensed something was off during their argument. He wanted to keep this girl around; if she got pregnant, he could have a great-grandchild.

Seeing Ashley about to leave, Michael clutched his chest. "I would carry the debt for the rest of my life if I can't repay her favor. Ethan, help me keep our benefactor here..."
