Chapter 264 Ashley's Return Gift
The kiss was so intense, it felt like it could go on forever!
They were all over each other, the heat in the car rising. Ashley's hand started to wander, but Ethan grabbed it just in time.
Ethan's eyes were dark, his voice all husky and sexy, "Not here."
The car was parked in the event lot, and the party had just wrapped up. People were still milling around, and he didn't want anyone catching a peek at his wife.
"Can you wait till we get home?" Ethan asked.
Ashley's cheeks were all flushed. "Okay."
Ethan hit the gas, speeding down the road.
Michael couldn't sleep and was chilling on the balcony, feeling the night breeze. He saw Ethan's fancy car pull up, tires screeching like he was in a race.
Michael muttered, "Ethan's thirty and still driving like a maniac. Is he racing or what?"
Then he saw Ethan hop out and open the door for Ashley. They were holding hands, totally lost in each other.
Michael sighed with relief, "At least Ethan didn't turn out like James. He's a romantic."
Ethan and Ashley made it to the bedroom. As soon as they got in, Ashley was all over him.
They moved from the door, to the couch, and finally to the bed.
Clothes were everywhere.
Who knows how long they went at it, but it was only at eleven at night that they finally crashed, holding each other.
"Honey," Ashley's voice was sweet and soft, "Why'd you propose to me so publicly? Aren't you worried people will laugh at us?"
Ethan asked, "Why would they laugh at us?"
Ashley said, "We're already married and have been together forever. Proposing in front of everyone might make people think we're just showing off."
Ethan said, "What others think is their problem. I can't control that. But as long as our love is real, that's all that matters."
"Don't you think so?" he asked.
"Yeah, Honey, you're right." Ashley kissed him on the cheek, her eyes sparkling. "Wait for me a sec, I need to hit the bathroom."
"Okay."
Ethan didn't think much of it.
Ashley left the bedroom but didn't go to the bathroom. Instead, she quietly went to the desk. She'd been working overtime on a design and had just finished it last night.
Ashley treated the wedding ring she designed like a precious treasure. She hid it in her bosom, grabbed her phone, and snuck into the bathroom to message her group of girlfriends.
They had a group chat, and as soon as she jumped in, Ashley saw that her and Ethan's romantic moment had already blown up online. Ethan was trending like crazy, making her the center of attention.
Samantha: [Ashley, you and your hubby are so extra with your romance. I legit cried.]
Pauline: [Ashley, spill the tea! How can I find a fairy-tale love like yours?]
Sienna: [Ashley, seeing you two so happy makes my heart melt.]
Seeing her friends' messages, Ashley couldn't help but grin.
Ashley replied: [Ladies, Ethan gave me such a huge surprise, I gotta return the favor. I need your help for this!]
Messages flooded in.
They all said: [Anything for you, Ashley! We got your back!]
Ashley chuckled and started typing on her phone.
"Honey, why are you in the bathroom so long? Everything okay?" Ethan's voice came from outside.
Ashley, her hands shaking a bit, quickly replied, "I'm fine, be out in a sec."
She finished up her plan in the group chat, made sure everything was set, and then composed herself before heading back to bed.
Ethan pulled her close. "It's late, let's get some sleep."
Ashley shook her head. "Honey, I wanna look at the stars. I'm tired, can you carry me?"
Ethan laughed, "Alright."
He scooped her up and carried her to the balcony. They sat down, gazing at the starry sky.
Ashley said mysteriously, "Honey, you gave me such a big gift, I have one for you too."
"Oh?" Ethan was curious, "What is it?"
Ashley pursed her lips. "It's a secret, I'll tell you later."
Ethan squinted, his hand around her waist starting to wander. "Tell me now."
Ashley giggled, "It tickles, stop it."
"Honey, I'm dying to know. What are you giving me?" Ethan was like a curious kid.
Ashley glanced at the time. "Just wait a bit longer."
She snuggled into his arms, ignoring his questions and tickles, keeping her secret.
Time ticked by.
As it got close to midnight, Ashley stood up, looking serious. "Honey, this is my gift to you."
She pulled out a gift box from her chest.
Inside was a brand new wedding ring, a piece she had designed and made herself.
"It's called Timeless Love. I made it for our marriage, hoping we'll always be heart to heart and never give up on each other!" Ashley smiled.
"You designed this?" Seeing the ring, Ethan's chest heaved, his heartbeat visibly quickening.
Ethan held her hand, his voice a bit reproachful. "Your hand hasn't fully healed, how could you hide this from me and make these?"
He was heartbroken!
