Chapter 78 Treat Chris Well?

After the doctor left, Ashley was alone in the room.

She was scared out of her mind but kept a calm facade. Glancing around and seeing no cameras, she pulled out the key she had swiped earlier and clutched it in her palm.

Her eyes locked onto the candle, a spark of an idea lighting up her gaze.

Ignoring the pain in her abdomen, she went to the counter, grabbed the candle, lit it, and let the wax drip onto a piece of glass.

She kept glancing nervously at the door, worried someone might burst in.

The wax seemed to drip agonizingly slow, and her heart pounded like a drum.

Just as the wax was almost done, she heard footsteps outside.

Panicking, she quickly hid the glass with the wax in her bosom. The hot wax burned her skin, and she hissed in pain.

At that moment, the door swung open!

Ashley didn't have time to clean up and could barely breathe from the nerves!

She pretended to be calm, making a praying gesture in front of the candle.

Chris walked in, his ear wrapped in bandages.

"Ashley, what are you doing?" he asked.

"I'm praying to God, hoping He will protect my child."

Ashley glared at him coldly. "Chris, if anything happens to my child, I'll hate you forever!"

Her eyes burned with hatred and stubbornness, which only fueled Chris's anger.

A storm brewed in Chris's eyes. "As long as I can keep you by my side, even if you hate me, it means you're thinking of me, and I'll take that."

He stepped closer. "Ashley, today I'm making you mine! That way, you and Ethan will never have a chance again!"

Ashley clutched her stomach and backed away in terror.

Chris advanced step by step. She was trapped and needed to escape fast.

Suddenly, an idea struck her. "Chris, if you agree to one condition, I'll be your woman!"

Chris raised an eyebrow. "A condition? Let's hear it."

"My condition is that after the child is born, you return the child to the Yates family. Only then will I become your woman."

"After the child is born? You're not planning any tricks, are you?"

Chris eyed her slightly swollen abdomen, jealousy burning in his eyes.

"I'm under your watchful eyes; what tricks could I possibly play?"

Chris let out a sinister laugh. "I know you just want to keep this child. Fine, I agree. But from now on, you will eat and sleep with me."

The thought of sharing a bed with him made her skin crawl.

But now wasn't the time to fight. She needed to copy the key and find a way to escape!

"Okay," Ashley nodded.

Seeing her so compliant, Chris's eyes softened a bit.

He stepped forward and scooped her up in a princess carry.

Ashley bit her lower lip, fighting the urge to vomit. He laid her on the soft bed and kissed her forehead. "Lie down and rest. I'll have the doctor come to ensure the pregnancy is safe."

Ashley nodded, keeping her face turned away from him.

Chris left the room, and as soon as he was gone, Ashley rushed to the bathroom and vomited into the toilet.

"Ugh..."

She retched until there was nothing left but bile.

Turning on the faucet, she frantically washed her face, scrubbing the spot on her forehead where Chris had kissed her, as if trying to cleanse herself of a terrible virus.

She didn't know how many times she washed, but her forehead was red and raw.

Looking at herself in the mirror, she felt utterly drained.

"Ms. Wilson?"

The doctor entered the room and, not seeing Ashley, called out.

Ashley composed herself and stepped out of the bathroom. "Doctor, I'm here."

"You'd better stay in bed. Lie down, and I'll give you a shot to protect the pregnancy."

Ashley lay on the bed. "Doctor, can my child be saved?"

Without looking up, the doctor replied, "After a few days of shots and if you stay in bed for the next two weeks, the child should be fine."

Only then did Ashley feel a bit of relief. Watching the doctor prepare the injection, she hesitated. "Doctor, could you..."

She looked at the doctor with pleading eyes, unsure if he would help her.

The doctor seemed to understand and smiled. "Ms. Wilson, I know you're being kept here against your will, but as long as you treat Chris well, he won't hurt you. He's had a tough life, and you're the only person he's ever cared about. Don't let him down."

It sounded like she was some kind of heartbreaker!

During the infusion, Ashley couldn't help but think of Ethan.

She wondered how he would react when he found out she was missing!

And her newly found parents, they must be worried sick...
