Chapter 25 Buying a Ring

The guy spoke to her with a gentle, classy vibe, making her feel really at ease.

But when he noticed the ring on her finger, his eyes darkened for a moment.

Ashley didn't catch his look and instead focused on the dog wagging its tail at her. "Will it bite?"

Alex smiled and patted Bubby's head. "Nah, it's playful but never bites."

"Can I pet it?"

"Sure thing."

Alex's warm smile made Ashley relax. She squatted down and started petting Bubby.

Her touch was gentle, but there was something unintentionally captivating about it. Alex found himself mesmerized as he watched her.

"Awwooo~"

Bubby lay on the ground, wagging its tail, and let out happy little whimpers, even nuzzling her feet.

Alex chuckled, his eyes bright. "Looks like it really likes you."

Ashley said to Bubby, "He's pretty cute. I like him, but next time, don't knock me over, okay?"

"Awwooo~"

Bubby seemed to agree.

They both laughed at Bubby's adorable antics.

"He's pretty smart, understanding what I say."

"Bubby's a clever dog."

After a pause, Alex added, "You seem to like dogs, and Bubby likes you too. Maybe we could walk the dog together sometime?"

Alex looked at her hopefully.

Ashley replied, "I do like cats and dogs. Hit me up when you walk the dog. If I'm free, I'll join. You have my Facebook, so message me."

She had always wanted a pet, but the Wilson family never allowed it, which made her sad. The idea of walking a dog excited her.

"What's your name? I'll note it down on Facebook."

"Ashley Wilson."

"I'm Alex Hill. Nice to meet you."

Ashley smiled and nodded, and Alex responded with a radiant smile. Any other girl might have been dazzled, but Ashley only looked at him for a second before calmly looking away.

Ashley said, "It's getting late. I need to go home. Goodbye."

She stood up, ready to leave.

But Bubby whimpered and bit the hem of her skirt, not letting her go.

"Bubby, she has things to do. Don't be naughty..."

"Whimper~"

Bubby looked at Ashley with pleading eyes.

Ashley said, "Be good. I really have things to do. I'll walk you with Alex next time, okay?"

"Awwooo~"

Bubby seemed satisfied and let go of her skirt.

"Goodbye."

Ashley waved at them.

"Goodbye."

Alex watched her leave, his gaze intense. But when he thought of the ring on her finger, his eyes darkened again.

Alex murmured to himself, "The first time I met her, she was single. Why is she wearing a ring today..."

His words were full of disappointment.

Bubby tilted its head at its owner, its eyes glinting with mischief.

Ashley got home, tidied up a bit, and then went to her studio to work on her designs. She got so absorbed that several hours passed, and it was already dark outside.

"It's already 8 PM. Why hasn't Ethan called me? Didn't he say he'd pick me up to stay at his place?"

Ashley thought for a moment and decided to call Ethan.

"Hello, who is this?"

A woman's voice came from the other end of the line.

Ashley's heart skipped a beat, and her voice turned cold. "I'm looking for Ethan!"

"Oh, Ethan? He's in the shower. You can tell me, and I'll pass the message."

Ashley was shocked, her eyes widening. Her emotions shifted dramatically. "Tell him to call me back when he's free."

With that, Ashley angrily hung up the phone.

"That jerk! He's out messing around, and I was trying to build a relationship with him. What a load of crap! Douchebag!"

Ashley furiously threw her phone.

What Ashley didn't know was that Ethan had realized he left his phone at the office after work. When he returned, he found Ava holding his phone. Ethan was displeased and spoke sternly, "What are you doing with my phone? Who let you into my office? Get out!"

"Ethan, I saw you left your phone here and was just bringing it to you. Don't be mad. Let me stay with you a bit longer, okay?"
