Chapter 519 Brother and Sister Miss Each Other
"Right, tomorrow is the weekend. Where would you like to go?" Ashley asked.
Andy replied, "Not sure. Daddy, do you have any ideas?"
By then, Nate had finally awakened, rolling back and forth on his bed. Seeing his playful behavior, Ethan smiled indulgently. "Nate, stop wiggling like a caterpillar and go brush your teeth."
Nate looked up innocently. "Okay, Daddy! I just heard from Andy that you and Mommy are taking us somewhere fun this weekend. Where are we going?"
Seeing the children's eager faces, Ethan thought carefully for a moment. "I have a recreational lodge where you can fish, swim, and even have barbecues. How about spending the weekend there? What do you think?"
Nate, who loved swimming, perked up instantly. "Yay! Thanks, Daddy! I love swimming!"
"What about you, Andy?"
"As long as I'm with you and Mom, I'm happy anywhere," Andy replied sweetly.
"Such a charmer first thing in the morning," Ethan laughed. "Now go get ready. Your mom and I will take you to preschool together today!"
The two boys were thrilled at the prospect of both parents taking them to school—it felt wonderfully normal.
"Yes, Daddy!" they chorused, hurrying to get ready.
The four of them enjoyed breakfast together. Since Ashley's arrival, Azure Palace seemed infused with warmth and happiness.
After breakfast, each parent holding a child's hand, they were about to leave when Doris approached with Angela. They came face to face in the hallway.
"Ethan," Doris called out.
"Mom," Ethan replied.
Ashley nodded politely to Doris, who returned a faint smile. "Hello."
Angela exclaimed, "Andy, Nate! I'm so glad you're staying at the palace. Please visit me often so I won't be lonely!"
"We will!" The three children joined hands, their friendship blossoming.
Doris observed Ethan and Ashley holding hands, faces glowing with happiness, their eyes sparkling like stars—like a couple deeply in love. She thought to herself that they must have made their relationship official, and a sense of foreboding washed over her.
Ashley noticed Doris's complex gaze fixed on their joined hands and quietly withdrew hers. Ethan frowned slightly.
"Mom, did you need something?" he asked.
"Actually, Marquis Atreides and Miss Ina are coming to visit this morning, and I need to prepare. Could you drop Angela off at preschool?"
Since it was on their way, Ethan agreed. "Sure."
"Let's go," he called to the children.
"Coming!" The three little ones followed the adults out.
Watching them leave, Doris added, "Ethan, after you drop them off, please come to the conference room. Your father wants to speak with you."
"Alright."
As they walked away, Ashley glanced back at Doris, catching a glimpse of barely concealed anxiety in her eyes. Ashley suddenly felt nervous herself.
"Ethan," she called out hesitantly.
"Yes? What is it?"
"Why do I feel like... your mom doesn't want us to be together?"
Ethan frowned and looked back at his mother. Noticing his gaze, Doris quickly put on a warm smile.
"Pearl, you're overthinking," Ethan reassured her. "It's Friday—after the kids finish school, I'll take you all to the lodge for the weekend. Sound good?"
Though still uneasy, Ashley nodded. "Okay."
They drove to the preschool, said goodbye to the children, and watched as the teachers led them inside. Back in the car, they prepared to leave.
Meanwhile, Liam, who had been staking out the area, spotted Ethan and the woman beside him. "It's Ashley! It really is her!" he exclaimed excitedly.
As Liam started walking toward them, a gym promoter intercepted him. "Sir, would you be interested in our membership."
"Get out of my way," Liam said urgently, pushing past. "I'm not interested."
"But sir, our current promotion offers..."
Before the salesman could finish, Liam saw Ethan and Ashley getting into their car, the engine already running.
"Move!" Liam snapped, shoving the salesperson aside and running after the car. But the luxury vehicle had already pulled away.
"Damn it!" Liam cursed. "I'll find you both!"
He rushed back to his car to follow them.
In the luxury car ahead, Ethan instructed his driver, "To the mall."
"Yes, Your Highness."
Halfway there, the driver noticed through his rearview mirror someone following them and honking. "Your Highness, I think someone's tailing us."
Ethan didn't bother looking back. "Lose them."
Ever since becoming Prince of Gold Valley District, Ethan had dealt with various threats and schemes.
Ashley, unaware of any danger, asked, "Ethan, what are we going to the mall for?"
Taking her hand gently, he replied, "To go shopping together, of course."
