Chapter 574 He Always Believed in Her

"So you remember you have a husband!" Ethan said jealously over the phone.

Ashley asked with concern, "Darling, why are you upset? The doctor said you shouldn't get emotional. Please don't get worked up!"

Ashley hadn't seen the news online and had no idea she'd been trending twice. She was completely unaware that Ethan had managed to remove most of the negative publicity, though some rumors still lingered on the internet.

That was the benefit of not following online news—if she had, it would certainly have affected her mood.

"Where are you?" he asked.

"At the hospital."

Ethan immediately became anxious. "Why are you at the hospital? Are you feeling unwell?"

"No... it's Atticus's father. His condition has worsened, so I came to visit him."

So that was why she was visiting Atticus's father.

Ethan's eyes narrowed as he made the connection with the news story that had broken that afternoon. He quickly pieced things together.

He said, "Are you done with your visit? I'll come pick you up."

"Okay."

Just as they hung up, Atticus stepped out of the hospital room, having overheard Ashley's phone conversation.

Atticus asked, "Pearl, was that Ethan calling you?"

Ashley's face lit up with happiness at the thought of seeing Ethan soon. "Yes."

"Is Mr. York Grayson feeling better?"

"Yes, he's taken his medication and fallen asleep. Now that his worries have been eased, he shouldn't be so agitated anymore."

"That's good," Ashley said. "By the way, about the fake marriage license we got today—I hope you can explain the situation to Ethan with me."

"Alright." A flash of sorrow crossed Atticus's eyes. Though reluctant, he would do anything Ashley wanted.

Half an hour later

Ethan's luxury car appeared at the hospital entrance. Ashley saw Ian helping him in a wheelchair and happily rushed over. "Darling!" she called out.

Ethan looked at her with loving eyes and a joyful smile, but when his gaze fell on Atticus behind her, his handsome face immediately darkened.

Suddenly, Ethan stood up from the wheelchair and put his arm around Ashley's waist, as if staking his claim. "Darling, it's been a day since I've seen you. Did you miss me?"

Ashley blushed, glancing awkwardly at Atticus. "The doctor said you shouldn't be on your feet for six months. Why are you standing? Please sit down."

She helped Ethan back into the wheelchair.

Ian looked at Ashley's calm demeanor with confusion.

"Ms. White, you're remarkably composed. Don't you follow the news?" Ian asked.

"What news?"

"The news about you and..." Ian glanced at Atticus.

"Ian!" Ethan shot him a warning look.

Ethan was afraid those nasty online comments would upset Ashley, which was why he tried to stop Ian.

Though reluctant, Ian yielded to Ethan's authority and fell silent.

"Darling, what news about me and who?" Ashley asked in confusion, pulling out her phone to check.

"Don't bother looking. His Highness took care of it—the news is already gone!" Ian interjected.

"What's going on? Is it about Atticus and me?"

Before Ethan could respond, Ian jumped in, "Exactly! Did you think about His Highness's feelings while you two were being affectionate in public? When he saw those images, he was so upset he had angina pains. His condition nearly relapsed."

"Ian, shut up!" Ethan commanded.

"Your Highness, I'm just defending you!"

"Enough. This is my personal matter. Regardless of what's being said online, I trust Ashley completely."

Ian was loyal and always ready to stand up for Ethan in times of crisis. But this was about his personal relationship—something he needed to handle himself.

Ashley was shocked by this information.

What? She and Atticus being affectionate?

And Ethan nearly had a relapse because of it?

"Darling, I'm so sorry for the misunderstanding," Ashley said anxiously. "There's nothing between Atticus and me. Please don't get upset again. Since we're all here, let's clear this up now."

Seeing her earnest expression, Ethan knew his judgment hadn't failed him—Ashley wasn't the unfaithful type.

With a satisfied smile, Ethan suggested, "Good. Let's go to a nearby café and talk this through properly."
