Chapter 225 The Divine Healer Asclepius
The Next Day
Ethan glanced at the woman snoozing next to him and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. In a low, gravelly voice, he murmured, "Babe, I'm heading to work."
Ashley just rolled over and yanked the blanket over her head, still deep in dreamland.
Ethan chuckled to himself.
Last night, she had started things, but ended up begging him to stop.
He'd kept her up all night, so no wonder she was dead to the world now.
Ethan tiptoed out of the room and, before leaving, told the maid, "If Ashley's not up in the morning, whip up some breakfast for her. Make sure she eats something before crashing again."
"Yes, Mr. Yates."
With that, Ethan headed to the office.
Ethan kicked off a video conference.
"Mr. Yates, the first round of financing for the downtown property is locked in, and the project's rolling. Next up, we start the second round of financing."
"For the first round, we needed $200 million. For the second round, we need $450 million, and for the third round, we need $1.35 billion."
"Mr. Ethan Yates, Mr. George Yates has found us a solid financing partner. His name's Josselin Soloman."
Ethan thought the name rang a bell and asked, "Is he the investor from Maridia?"
"Yep!"
On the other end of the video, George chimed in, "Ethan, I've been chatting with Josselin and set up a meeting for the day after tomorrow to talk financing. I'm pretty sure I can nail down a $450 million investment from him in one go."
As George wrapped up, the room buzzed with approval.
Hearing George's confidence, Ethan grinned and said, "I trust you. When you come back with the win, I'll throw you a killer party!"
After the meeting, Ethan rubbed his throbbing temples.
Just as he was about to dive into his next task, Diannel knocked and walked in.
"Mr. Yates, this is our company's next project. Please take a look."
"This project is something the Yates Group hosts every three years. The winner of this discussion gets a $45,000 sponsorship from the Yates Group to cover all costs for developing their new medication."
"Alright, keep it rolling as usual. Announce the event, and once the medical community signs up, let the judges do their thing. Who are the judges this year?"
"Not decided yet."
Ethan leaned on his chin, thinking, and then said, "I've heard about Asclepius, the legendary healer in Aivalia. Super mysterious—no one knows if they're male or female, their age, but anyone they help is said to come back from the brink of death."
Diannel, looking surprised, asked, "That impressive?"
"Wherever Asclepius goes, legends follow."
Ethan ordered, "Find a way to get in touch with Asclepius. No matter what it takes, get them to head the judging panel for this competition. Once you lock them in, spread the word. With their rep, this year's medical symposium is gonna be a hit."
"Got it, Mr. Yates."
As Diannel was about to leave, Ethan asked, "Oh, and are the plane tickets sorted?"
"Yep, Mr. Yates. They're booked. The flight's this afternoon."
Diannel handed over two plane tickets to Ethan and asked, "Mr. Yates, why not just take the private jet?"
Ethan raised an eyebrow and replied, "Wanna give Ashley a taste of normal life."
Diannel was speechless, thinking, 'First class isn't exactly "normal life," but okay... The rich really do live in another world.'
Around nine in the morning, the maid woke Ashley up for breakfast. After eating, she felt so stuffed that she flopped back into bed, unable to sleep. Her whole body felt like it had been hit by a truck, her bones practically falling apart, but she didn't want to get up.
As she lay there daydreaming, her phone rang.
Seeing it was Pauline calling, Ashley answered, "What's up, Pauline?"
"The Yates Group just announced this year's medical discussion is open for registration. You going?"
Ashley stretched out her hand, looking at it. "Even though I studied medicine under William for a few years, I'm only good at the hands-on stuff. My theory game is weak, so I won't make it far. I'm not going!"
"Your medical skills might not be as legendary as Asclepius's, but they're still solid. I've already signed you up."
Ashley raised an eyebrow and asked, "My medical skills aren't as good as Asclepius's?"
"Of course not."
Ashley curled her lips into a mysterious smile.
"Ashley, get your thesis ready. I'm looking forward to seeing you shine."
After Pauline hung up, Ashley looked at her slightly trembling hand and sighed. "Looks like if I don't want to do surgery, I'll need Asclepius's help."
She dialed a number. On the other end, a man's voice answered, "You finally remembered to call me, you heartless woman. Miss me?"
Ashley laughed and said bluntly, "No."
There was silence on the other end of the line.
Only Ashley would dare to talk to him like that!
Ashley got straight to the point. "I hurt my hand. I heard your medical skills are top-notch. Can you fix it without surgery?"
"Heartless woman, you only call when you need something."
"Give me your address. I want to see you in person."
"OK."
