Chapter 110 Get the Evidence
May got a text from Ashley, giving her 30 minutes to get to The Yates Mansion and check out Michael's accident.
May almost jumped up. "Finally, Ashley wants me to do something. Time to show what I can do."
She quickly arrived at The Yates Mansion.
At the same time, Ryan and his team showed up too.
They bumped into each other at the door.
"Mr. Reid, Mr. Yates wants you to come in and gather evidence."
Ryan nodded, eyeing May. She had a strong presence, not easy to approach.
"And who are you?"
"Hi, I'm May. My master sent me to collect evidence."
"Mrs. Yates told me. Go ahead."
Ryan asked, "Your master? You mean Ashley?"
May flicked her hair and asked, "Officer, how long will this take?"
Ryan said, "Depends, but we need to be quick today."
May smirked. "I heard Mr. Yates has a cop friend. That must be you. How about a little competition to see who can investigate faster?"
Ryan, intrigued, said, "A competition? What's the loser’s penalty?"
May said, "Drink a dozen beers in three minutes."
Ryan shrugged. "Deal."
May smiled and went inside. Ryan told his team, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up to get the evidence."
"Yes, Mr. Reid."
Inside, May asked Thomas, "Where did the accident happen?"
"Right here at the stairs."
Thomas led them to the spot.
May set down her case and checked the area. The stairs were high but had a soft carpet, making it hard to trip, barefoot or in heels.
She took out a magnifying glass and examined the carpet.
Ryan's team watched her work without crowding her.
"Miss, what are you looking at?"
"There are footprints here. I can replicate them."
May then checked the handrail, finding fingerprints and handprints, which she also replicated. She asked Thomas about the hospital where the grandparents were, packed up, and headed there.
Ryan watched her intense work and then her rush to the hospital, shaking his head.
"Don't just stand there, find some clues."
"Got it."
The officers started searching for clues.
Half an hour later, it was 10:30.
Reporters were wide awake, waiting for the next scoop.
"Mr. Yates, Ms. Lee accused you of slandering her, claiming that your love for Mrs. Yates blinded you. What do you say?"
Ava had just cried to the reporters, badmouthing Ashley and calling Ethan heartless and biased.
Ethan scoffed, "I don't need to slander her; she's already dirty!"
Ava, angry, said, "Ethan, you have no evidence and have damaged my reputation, causing me distress. You must take responsibility, or we'll see each other in court."
Ethan retorted, "I'll be ready anytime!"
Suddenly, someone walked in, shouting, "Mr. Yates does have evidence! The evidence is right here..."
