Chapter 29 Meeting His Parents

The two turned their heads at the sound.

A woman in a fisherman's hat and mask stood there, making it hard to see her face, but her eyes were stunning. She looked familiar. Had they met before?

Ashley asked, "Do you know her?"

Ethan glanced at the woman, his gaze indifferent. "Ava, aren't you afraid of making headlines by coming here?"

The woman approached and took off her mask.

She smiled faintly at Ashley, but there was a hint of jealousy in her eyes.

Ashley, having met countless people, saw through her expression.

Ava extended her hand. "Hello, I'm Ethan's girlfriend, Ava."

Girlfriend?

Was she here for a confrontation?

"Hello, I'm Ethan's wife, Ashley!"

Ashley shook Ava's hand, and as they clasped hands, Ava suddenly used a lot of force, seemingly trying to crush Ashley's hand.

Ashley raised an eyebrow and squeezed back even harder.

Their hands made a creaking sound in mid-air, a silent contest.

Seeing this, Ethan rubbed his temples in frustration and snapped, "How long are you two going to keep holding hands?"

Ethan coldly retorted, "And Ava, watch your words! You're the ex-girlfriend now!"

Ava looked aggrieved and loosened her grip.

Ashley also let go, but if Ava dared to continue, she could have broken her hand!

Ava pouted. "Ethan, I don't want to upset you or argue about this. I just happened to run into you here. Since it's such a coincidence, why don't we have a late-night snack together?"

Ashley twitched her lips.

She scrutinized Ava, finding her more and more familiar.

This was the woman who had thrown herself at Ethan in the office before. Watching the video didn't make it clear, but seeing her in person made her feel like she had seen her somewhere before.

Ethan said coldly, "I'm not eating. Ashley, let's go home."

Ashley couldn't help but look at him with newfound respect.

Just then, the owner brought two plates of barbecue. "Here are your dishes, enjoy."

"Don't leave, you haven't even eaten your food yet. Isn't that a waste?"

Ashley raised an eyebrow and said, "Honey, we shouldn't waste food. Let's eat before we go."

Ethan clearly didn't want to get entangled with Ava and was afraid Ashley might misunderstand, but he didn't expect Ashley to suggest staying.

Hearing her call him 'Honey,' he felt a strange sweetness in his heart.

Ethan reluctantly said, "Alright."

Ashley picked up a piece of meat and placed it in Ethan's bowl. "Honey, try this. The barbecue here is really good."

Seeing Ashley call Ethan 'Honey,' Ava was extremely jealous but forced a smile. "Ms. Wilson, I remember Ethan can't eat spicy food."

Ethan retorted, "I've changed my taste."

With that, he opened his mouth and ate the meat.

Ava was dying of jealousy.

She picked up some food and put it in Ethan's bowl. "Ethan, eating spicy food is bad for your stomach. Have something lighter."

Ethan moved his plate away. "No need."

Ava felt like her heart was bleeding.

Ashley gazed deeply at Ethan, a sudden wave of attraction washing over her. She was captivated by his striking looks, his wealth, his ability to deflect women's advances with ease, and his capacity to coolly rebuff their enthusiasm.

Such a perfect man!

"Ethan, I want to eat that piece of meat. Can you get it for me?"

Ethan replied, "Don't you have hands? And I remember you're always on a diet. Can you eat meat now?"

"Ethan, I knew you still cared about me. You even remember I can't eat too much..."

Ashley and Ethan both fell silent.

"Ms. Wilson, even though you and Ethan are married, I know he was forced into it. When he was kidnapped to the Rocky Mountains, I was the one who saved him. We not only have mutual affection but also a life-and-death bond..."

Ashley frowned in thought.

The Rocky Mountains?

Kidnapping?

Suddenly, she thought of something and asked, "The Rocky Mountains in Colorado, the sensational kidnapping case from fifteen years ago?"
