Chapter 488 Memory Fragments
"Andy, would you like me to be your daddy?" Ethan knelt down, his throat tight with nervousness and anticipation. "You know, I'm trying to win your mommy's heart."
Nearby, Nate chimed in, "Uncle, we accidentally overheard your conversation with Godfather the other day."
Ethan looked at them in surprise.
So, the children already knew about his pursuit of Pearl.
Did their willingness to call him "Daddy" mean they accepted him? Ethan felt a rush of joy.
"Uncle," Andy said, "I've known for a while that you're pursuing Mom. I like calling you Daddy. When no one else is around, could I call you that?"
"Me too," Nate added. "I want to call you Daddy too."
After all, Ethan was actually Nate's biological father.
"Of course you can!" Ethan replied without hesitation.
"Awesome! We have a daddy now!"
The two children cheered, throwing their arms around Ethan and planting kisses on his cheeks. Ethan's eyes softened with affection.
The three embraced, creating a moment of genuine happiness and fulfillment.
Ian stood nearby, thinking, 'Oh my prince, you've really become a stepfather.'
Angela pondered seriously, "So if Andy and Nate call my brother 'Daddy,' does that make them my nephews?"
Ian silently lamented, 'Oh Princess, why are you getting involved in this too...'
Ethan smiled and said, "That's right. According to family hierarchy, they'll be your nephews. Andy, Nate, from now on you should call Angela 'Auntie.'"
Andy and Nate exchanged glances.
In perfect unison, they said, "Hello, Auntie Angela."
What an experience to have an aunt the same age as them!
Angela beamed, "This is great! I've become an aunt and gained two nephews just like that."
Andy and Nate grinned mischievously and extended their hands toward Angela.
Angela looked confused. "What is it?"
"Auntie, since this is our first official meeting, shouldn't you give us a welcome gift?"
Angela's face flushed with embarrassment. "I... I don't have anything..."
A glint of playfulness flashed in her eyes as she took the opportunity to dash away.
"Auntie, don't run!"
The boys chased after her.
"You can't catch me."
The three of them weaved through the crowd, laughing and playing, creating a perfect atmosphere.
Watching their joy, Ethan felt truly happy.
"Your Highness," Ian cautiously reminded him, "this might not be appropriate. The King has said your future partner must be a woman of noble birth."
Ethan shot him a cold glance. "Shut up."
Ian covered his mouth fearfully. "I wouldn't dare..."
Ian thought, 'Oh my, the prince is terrifying, but also so foolish. A prince falling for a divorced woman with two children? What spell has he fallen under? When we return, I must alert His Majesty.'
Ethan spotted the children running too far and hurried after them. "Kids, slow down!"
Marc, seeing the children momentarily alone, approached to make his move. Just as he neared Andy and Nate, Ethan caught up, causing Marc to turn and flee to avoid being identified.
Nate stopped in his tracks. "Andy, Angela..."
"What is it?" Andy asked, puzzled.
Nate pointed at Marc's retreating figure. "Andy, that man looks like the kidnapper who tried to trick me before. Why is he here?"
Andy looked in the direction Nate was pointing. "I don't see anyone. Maybe you're mistaken? Here comes Daddy, let's go to him."
"Okay."
Hand in hand, the three children rejoined Ethan and continued enjoying their day at the amusement park.
The palace
"Miss, I've brought the medicine you requested, and the doctor is here," the maid said.
The doctor examined Ashley's injuries, alarmed to find they had worsened. "How could this happen? Why are they getting worse?"
If the prince held him responsible, his life would be forfeit.
Ashley fought through the pain and calmly said, "Doctor, don't worry. Were these medicines mixed according to my formula?"
"Yes, they were."
"Follow my instructions exactly, and you can make an ointment identical to what we used yesterday."
The doctor looked at Ashley with surprise but wasted no time. Following her directions, he worked for over half an hour to prepare the medicine.
"I've made six bottles of this ointment. In all my years of practice, I've never met anyone as skilled as you. Miss, have you studied medicine?"
Ashley wasn't sure herself. She had simply noticed the different scents between two bottles and, combined with strange fragments of memory, had formulated a new ointment.
"I'm in so much pain and it's itching badly. Let's try the ointment quickly."
"Miss, let me apply it for you," the maid offered.
As the medicine covered Ashley's wounds, a cooling sensation replaced the burning and itching. Within about ten minutes, the festering wounds visibly began to heal.
The doctor exclaimed, "This is remarkable! Miss, your ointment works even better than Asclepius's medicine! How strange that his remedy would fail like this!"
Ashley frowned. "Asclepius?"
She repeated the name several times, feeling it was somehow familiar.
Suddenly, Ashley's vision blurred as unfamiliar yet somehow recognizable images flashed through her mind: "Darling, I'd like you to meet this gentleman—he's a legend in the medical field. Yes, this is Asclepius..."
