Chapter 121 Difficult Mother-in-law
No wonder no one was outside; they had all been sent away.
Ashley sensed Ivy was doing it on purpose but couldn't figure out why. Ivy had been friendly at the hospital in the morning, but as soon as Ethan left, her attitude changed.
Ashley shrugged it off and said, "Mom, you didn't need to send all the servants away just to cook. At least leave one to help me; I can't move around easily right now."
Ivy sneered internally, 'A woman who can't even have kids, yet she acts like she's the queen of motherhood?'
Outwardly, Ivy agreed, "Alright, I'll arrange for someone to help you later. Just rest. I'll take Felicity out for a walk."
"Okay."
Ashley nodded and glanced at Felicity, who gave her a fake smile.
"Felicity, let's go for a walk."
"Okay."
Felicity looked back at Ashley with disdain.
After they left, half an hour passed, and still, no one came to help Ashley. She was frustrated and really needed to use the bathroom. If no one came soon, she'd wet the bed.
Just when she felt helpless, there was a knock on the door.
Ashley thought it was a maid and said excitedly, "Come in."
To her surprise, it was Samantha.
"Samantha, you're here, thank goodness."
"Ashley, you don't look so good. Is someone from the Yates family bullying you?"
Ashley said anxiously, "We'll talk later. Please, help me to the bathroom first."
Samantha was surprised. "You can't move well right now. How come no one's taking care of you?"
Ashley sighed. "I'll handle that later. Just take me to the bathroom first."
"Alright."
Samantha moved Ashley to a wheelchair and pushed her into the bathroom.
Samantha joked, "Ashley, I'm going to take off your underwear now!"
Ashley's face turned red. "Oh, stop joking. Hurry up."
She couldn't hold it any longer.
"Making you beg for help, this is really something."
Ashley's face was flushed. Needing someone to take care of her was not pleasant at all!
While talking, Samantha took off her pants and helped her sit on the toilet.
"I'll step out. Call me when you're done."
As soon as Samantha left, Ashley, who had been holding it in for so long, finally relieved herself.
She called out, "Samantha, I'm done."
"Alright, I'm coming in."
Samantha came in, helped Ashley get dressed, and settled her back in the wheelchair. "Lying in bed all day isn't good for you. Let me take you out for a walk."
"Samantha, thank you."
"Don't mention it. We're good friends. Taking care of you is the least I can do."
As they stepped outside, the scent of flowers and the warm breeze instantly lifted Ashley's mood.
Samantha asked, "By the way, Ashley, when I came in, I saw so many maids tending to the garden and cleaning the floors. How come no one is taking care of you?"
Ashley looked down. "Ethan arranged for six maids to take care of me, but Mom sent them away, saying there were important guests visiting. I didn't expect her to lie to me! I initially suspected she was doing it on purpose, and now I'm sure of it. She's targeting me!"
And it seemed she had already found another 'daughter-in-law.'
"What the hell, how can she do that? She is so mean!"
Ashley said, "I can't understand why she's suddenly targeting me. This morning, when Ethan was around, she was so warm to me."
Samantha said, "That's being two-faced. She acts one way in front of Ethan and another way in front of you. Ashley, I know you wouldn't let this slide. But since you can't move well right now, you can't do much about it. Why not let Ethan handle this?"
Without thinking, Ashley shook her head. "No, Ethan values family a lot. Their relationship is already strained. I don't want to make it worse because of me. So, I need to handle this myself."
"Alright, Ashley, if you need anything, just call me. I can come to help you anytime."
"Samantha, I'm so grateful to have you."
Ashley felt deeply grateful. The earlier feeling of despair and embarrassment was instantly replaced by warmth in Samantha's presence.
Suddenly, Ivy walked in from a distance, hurriedly saying, "You damn woman, so this is where you ran off to. I was looking for you everywhere. Even with broken bones, you still manage to get around."
Facing her sarcastic remarks, Samantha wanted to retort, but Ashley gave her a look to keep quiet.
Ashley politely asked, "Mom, is there something you need from me?"
Ivy said, "Someone wants to see you. You need to come with me right away..."
