Chapter 355 A Banquet with Hidden Intentions

Ashley walked in, and Josselin left the office with some documents.
George noticed Ashley's disheveled appearance, a glint of suspicion in his eyes, "Ashley, what do you mean by that? Are you suggesting that my girlfriend, Annie, seduced Ethan?"
"That's right!" Ashley's eyes were red, as if she had shedding tears. "I saw Annie and Ethan in bed together with my own eyes. George, did you know about this?"
George appeared deeply wounded, "How could this be? It's impossible! I had no idea."
Ashley inquired, "What are you going to do about it?"
George replied, "Ashley, if you find Annie an eyesore, I'll break up with her."
"Very well, I trust you," Ashley affirmed, reaching out to pat George's shoulder.
In that moment, a small listening device discreetly fell into George's pocket.
"Ashley, are you really going to divorce Ethan?" George probed.
"George, Ethan has disappointed me too much. I will definitely divorce him." Ashley stated firmly. "Anyway, about Annie, I hope you handle it well. Even though Ethan and I will divorce, I don't want Annie to benefit from it!"
There was a hint of anger in Ashley's tone.
George's eyes flickered, "Alright, I'll take care of it." he assured her.
Ashley said, "Okay, I'm leaving."
"Alright, I must be on my way," Ashley announced, taking her leave. As she turned around, her face, which seemed on the verge of tears, revealed a cryptic smile.
George watched her leave, his mind consumed with conflicting thoughts, torn between belief and doubt.
Ashley got into a modified van and started listening to George's audio.
"Ethan and Ashley are getting a divorce."
"That's great. My plan has succeeded, which will further your plan."
"Ethan and Ashley loved each other so much. How could they just divorce like that? I feel like things are going too smoothly. Do you think they might suspect something?"
"You're overthinking it."
"After they divorce, what do you plan to do next? Has Josselin signed the contract with Ethan yet?"
"We are almost there."
After listening to George and Annie's conversation, Ashley was certain that George had been acting all along. He and Annie were conspiring against Ethan.
Moreover, Josselin and George were complicit in the plot!
Their ultimate goal was to seize control of Yates Group!
Ashley took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm. The audio evidence she had wasn't enough; she needed to gather more concrete evidence.
Over an hour later
George's audio came through again. "Mom, why did you do that back then? If you hadn't hired someone to hit Ethan, Doris wouldn't have run to push him, and she wouldn't have gotten hurt. Now, Given the bond between Doris and Ethan, and the second round of financing for the central area has been interfered with by the Jones Group."
His tone was filled with anger.
Ashley was taken aback, her eyes widening, feeling deeply pity for Ethan.
The car accident that day was actually orchestrated, and the masterminds were Catherine and George.
"George, how could this happen? What should we do?" Catherine inquired urgently.
"Ethan seems to be getting suspicious. Now, I'm trying to convince Josselin to sign the investment contract. We can only take a gamble!" George responded with a sense of urgency.
Ashley felt a pang of sadness. Why did George betray Ethan?
They were cousins, with such a good relationship, yet they had resorted to such deceitful acts for the sake of property!
Ashley found it hard to believe. If Catherine succeeded one day, the consequences would be catastrophic.
The thought made Ashley visibly pale.
Suddenly, Ashley's phone rang.
Ashley saw the caller ID; it was Catherine!
Ashley's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately turned off the listening device.
Why was Catherine suddenly calling her?
"Hello, Catherine." Ashley answered the call.
"Ashley, George came back today and told me about you guys." Catherine's voice came through the phone.
"That blind fool, getting such a shameless girlfriend, causing trouble between you and Ethan. To show my apology, I'm arranging a dinner tomorrow night. Can you come over and let us apologize to you?" Catherine's voice held a hint of insincerity.
Ashley raised an eyebrow; this was probably a dinner with ulterior motives!
Ashley agreed, "Sure."
She would attend the dinner and see what schemes they had in store!
