Chapter 184 The Yates Group Bankrupted?
On his first night in Ferndale, Ethan felt awful in the middle of the night.
Diannel, staying with him, got up for some water and heard noises from Ethan's room. He knocked on the door. "Mr. Yates, you okay?"
No response. Diannel knocked again, puzzled. "Mr. Yates?"
After waiting a bit with no answer, Diannel remembered Ashley mentioning Ethan wasn't used to Ferndale. Worried, he opened the door and found Ethan collapsed on the floor.
"Mr. Yates!"
Panicking, Diannel rushed over. Ethan's forehead was burning, and he was coughing violently. Diannel was really worried.
"Oh my God, he's burning up."
Diannel got Ethan onto the bed, called the doctor, and fetched some warm water to wipe him down.
Half an hour later, Ethan's private doctor and friend, Morgan Hotchner, arrived.
"Dr. Hotchner, how is he?"
Morgan said, "He has a 103-degree fever and lung inflammation. Good thing we caught it early; it could've been worse."
Diannel, anxious, replied, "This is bad. We have a big case coming up, and Mr. Yates getting sick now will mess everything up."
"Don't worry. I've given him medication. Let the team handle the company's matters for now, and keep his illness quiet."
Diannel nodded. "That's all we can do."
They looked at the unconscious Ethan and sighed. Who would've thought someone so powerful could be brought down by illness?
The next day, the headlines exploded!
#The Yates Group faces massive penalties for breaching contract with Ferndale Royalty#
#The Yates Group to pay billions in compensation#
#The Yates Group on the brink of bankruptcy!#
Everyone online was watching the drama unfold, while in reality, people were deeply worried.
Online, those who once envied the Yates Group for landing the billion-dollar contract were now mocking them. However, the reality was that countless individuals relied on the Yates Group for their livelihoods. If the company went bankrupt, they'd face financial difficulties.
For a moment, the Yates Group was in the eye of the storm.
The Yates Group's stock plummeted in a single day, and many companies with agreements suddenly backed out. Even long-term partners were terminating their contracts because of the news.
Ashley woke up and realized she could move her hand a bit. She tested it in front of Sienna and Samantha, and everyone was thrilled to see her recovering.
"Ashley, this is awesome! Your hand's finally moving. In a couple of weeks, you can get the cast off."
"Yeah."
Ashley was happy too.
Samantha, seeing their joy, hesitated to speak. Ashley noticed her troubled look.
"Samantha, what's up? You look worried."
Samantha looked serious. "Ashley, Sienna, did you see today's news?"
"What news?"
Sienna, puzzled, checked her phone. After reading, she looked shocked and then worriedly at Ashley.
Ashley asked, "What's wrong? What happened?"
Sienna showed her phone to Ashley. "The Yates Group is going bankrupt!"
"What?"
Ashley couldn't believe it. She read the news and felt shock, fear, and worry for Ethan.
Samantha asked, "Ashley, what do we do now?"
Determination flashed in Ashley's eyes. "I'll do everything to help him. Samantha, contact Pauline. We need to discuss our strategy."
"Got it."
Samantha went to contact Pauline. Sienna, looking worried, said, "Ashley, Ethan's up against the Ferndale Royalty. How can we fight them? This is a tough battle, and we need to be prepared for any outcome."
Sienna held Ashley's hand. "You're young and beautiful. Why not find someone better than Ethan?"
Ashley looked shocked.
"Sienna, what are you saying? How did you become so materialistic? Ethan and I are married. We should face our problems together. Running away isn't what marriage is about."
Ashley stared at Sienna. They'd been friends for years, but lately, Ashley felt like she didn't understand Sienna anymore. Their views seemed to be drifting apart.
Sienna lowered her eyes, making it hard to read her thoughts. "I was just giving you some well-meaning advice. Why are you so harsh?"
"Sorry."
Seeing her hurt look, Ashley softened.
"I spoke too harshly. Once everyone is here, let's contact my Master."
"Your Master?"
Ashley nodded.
Her Master was also her benefactor!
