Chapter 376 Why Should It Be Aboveboard?
After her miscarriage, Felicity was supposed to be imprisoned, but she escaped. Now she moved through the shadows, her face obscured by a cap and mask, revealing only her cold, calculating eyes.
Ava watched Ashley and Ethan's intimate moment, hatred flaring in her eyes.
"Why do they get to live in the light, Felicity?" Ava hissed. "Why do they get to have clean, honest lives while we're condemned to darkness and despair?"
Felicity remained silent.
"I'll drag them down into the abyss," Ava continued, murderous intent flashing in her eyes. "Let them taste the suffering we've endured."
"What do you plan to do?" Felicity finally asked.
"Ethan already knows about George's plan. My attempts to drive them apart haven't worked as expected," Ava replied. "If manipulation fails, other methods become necessary."
"You're going to kill them?" Felicity's voice was ominous.
"Yes. But not yet." Ava's lips curled into a cruel smile. "First, let's go to the hospital and get what we need. Before they die, I want them to experience endless pain and torment. Death would be too merciful now."
Felicity followed Ava to the hospital without another word.
Meanwhile, Ethan drove home, calling ahead to have the staff prepare a meal. It was just past ten in the morning when they arrived at the Yates Mansion, the food being served as they walked in.
"Darling, you must be starving since you missed breakfast," Ethan said, leading Ashley to the dining room by the hand. "I've had the staff prepare something nutritious for you."
Ashley ate without complaint, savoring every bite after going hungry all morning.
After she finished, Ethan thoughtfully served her soup. "Have some of this too."
Ashley had barely taken two sips when her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, her face brightened. "It's Sienna! We haven't seen each other in ages. She must be close to her due date."
She answered quickly, "Hello, Sienna?"
"Ashley." The voice on the other end sounded frighteningly weak.
Ashley's heart raced. "Sienna, what's wrong?"
"I think the baby's coming," Sienna said, her voice strained with pain. "Nathan left on a flight just two hours ago. He won't be back for a while. Ashley, I'm scared."
"Try to stay calm. Where's your household staff?" Ashley asked.
"I sent them out for pastries just before the pain started," Sienna explained. "I've called an ambulance, but I don't want to go to the hospital alone. Could you come over?"
"Of course. Try to breathe steadily. I'll be right there."
Having overheard the conversation, Ethan stood up. "Don't worry, I'll drive you."
They arrived at the Weiss Mansion quickly. Finding the door ajar, Ashley called out, "Sienna!"
"Over here!" Sienna responded, one hand clutching her belly, the other bracing herself against the sofa.
Ashley rushed to her side. "How are you feeling? Is the pain constant?"
"It comes in waves," Sienna explained. "Unbearable when it hits, then it passes, only to return moments later."
Ashley noticed Sienna's heavily pregnant form making her appear even more delicate than usual. "Why are you on the floor? Let's get you on the sofa while we wait for the ambulance."
Sienna blushed, glancing uncomfortably at Ethan as if reluctant to speak.
Sensing her discomfort, Ethan said, "I'll check if the ambulance has arrived."
Once he left, Ashley asked, "What's wrong, Sienna?"
Blushing deeper, Sienna explained, "My water broke. I didn't want to ruin the sofa."
Understanding dawned on Ashley. "Do you have your hospital bag ready?"
"Yes, in the master bedroom upstairs. Everything's packed."
"Stay put. I'll get it," Ashley offered.
"Thank you, Ashley."
Upstairs, Ashley found several bags of baby supplies but wasn't sure which one Sienna needed, so she gathered them all.
As she was about to leave, a breeze through the window sent a design sketch fluttering to her feet. Setting down the bags, she picked up the paper, something about the design striking her as oddly familiar.
Before she could examine it closely, she heard Sienna calling from downstairs, "Ashley, hurry! The ambulance is here!"
"Coming!" she replied.
When Ashley descended with the bags, Ethan was helping the paramedics settle Sienna onto a stretcher. He rushed to take some of the bags from Ashley, and together they followed the ambulance to the hospital.
