Chapter 529 A Family of Four Reunited

Ashley pulled out Liam's contact information. "Ethan, this is my brother's number. I want to call him, but I'm terrified and nervous."

"Don't be afraid. I'll dial for you."

"Thank you."

Ethan took her phone and made the call while Ashley waited beside him, hardly daring to breathe.

Meanwhile, Liam was driving with his phone on the passenger seat. When it started ringing, he reached for it.

Suddenly, a sedan sped past on the left, causing Liam to cry out and swerve sharply. His phone tumbled beneath the seat. In the next moment, the other car careened wildly before crashing into Liam's vehicle, flipping it over.

The out-of-control car continued a short distance before smashing into a utility pole with a deafening crash, shattering its windows.

"Someone call 911! There's been an accident!" People rushed over. Someone pulled open Liam's door to find him unconscious and bleeding from the head.

"There's someone passed out! We need an ambulance!"

Inside the car, the phone continued ringing. Liam's eyelids fluttered as he tried to reach for it, but his arm had no strength. He slipped into complete unconsciousness.

"Did he answer, Ethan?" Ashley asked anxiously, an inexplicable sense of foreboding making her eyelid twitch.

Ashley's face fell. "No one's picking up."

"Don't worry. He's probably just busy. We'll try again later."

"I suppose that's all we can do."

As they continued driving, they hit traffic.

After investigating, the driver returned with news, "Sir, there's been an accident ahead involving two cars. The road is completely blocked—we can't get through."

Ethan glanced behind them at the long line of vehicles, then checked the time. "Call for another car to pick us up using an alternate route. We need to hurry; the preschool will be letting out soon."

"Yes, sir."

Ethan turned to Ashley. "Pearl... Ashley... what should I call you now?" He chuckled softly. "Maybe I should just call you 'darling.'"

"We don't know for certain yet," Ashley replied. "Better stick with Pearl. I've grown used to it over the years anyway."

"Alright, Pearl. We need to walk a short distance to meet our other car."

"Let's go."

As they exited the vehicle, Ashley stared at the traffic jam ahead. She saw paramedics loading someone into an ambulance. For no reason she could explain, her heart filled with unease, her eyelid wouldn't stop twitching, and she found herself walking toward the scene.

"Pearl, that's the wrong way. We need to go this way."

Ashley looked back at the accident scene. "Ethan, I have this terrible feeling something's wrong. Do you think something's happened?"

"Don't worry. I'm here with you. Everything will be fine."

Taking her hand, Ethan led her along an alternative route where another car waited to take them to the preschool.

Throughout the journey, Ashley remained distracted and anxious.

"Pearl, don't overthink things. Even if the sky were falling, I'd be here to hold it up for you."

Ashley smiled faintly. "Having you here means everything."

When they arrived at the preschool, Andy and Nate spotted them and waved excitedly. "Daddy! Mommy!"

Ethan's face radiated happiness. "Andy, Nate, come here! Daddy wants to hug you!"

He opened his arms wide.

The boys ran to him joyfully. Ethan scooped them up, one in each arm, spinning them around without any sign of strain, filling the air with their delighted squeals.

"Wow, Daddy! You must be super happy today—you've never spun both of us around before!"

Ethan planted a kiss on each of their cheeks. "Of course I am! Something wonderful happened today."

Nate looked at him curiously. "What happened?"

"Our family of four is finally together."

"But we've always been together!" Nate said, puzzled.

"You're right, Nate. And from now on, our family of four will always stay together. We'll never be separated again."

Tears glistened in Ethan's eyes.

"Daddy, why are you crying?" Andy asked, concerned.

"These are tears of joy," Ethan explained. "We're heading to the mountain lodge tonight. Are you ready, my little ones?"

"Awesome! We can't wait!"

Ashley stood watching the three of them, her lips curved into a smile while tears of happiness formed in her eyes. The scene before her radiated warmth and love.

If only they could remain this happy forever.

"Pearl, shall we get going?" Ethan called to her.

"Yes, let's go."
