Chapter 334 The Child is Liam's
Ava stood at the top of the building, looking down at the Yates Group lobby. From up here, she felt like she had everything under control, like a queen surveying her kingdom.
Last night, Ava went out shopping and, by chance, saw Ethan, Yara, Nora, and Liam heading to the hospital owned by the Yates Group. She decided to follow them but couldn't get in because they used the employee entrance. So, she waited outside for over an hour. Then she saw Ethan's friend Morgan rushing to the hospital and figured Ethan was up to something.
Today, the news was all about Ethan having an illegitimate child. Given how calm Ethan was, Ava guessed he had already figured out who was behind it and had done another DNA test on the sly.
Her phone rang, and she answered it. "Boss, it's done. We swapped the report while Ethan wasn't paying attention!"
Ava smirked. "Good, the money will be in your account soon."
She clenched her fist, her eyes burning with hatred. She vowed to take down Ethan and Ashley.
At the Press Conference
Ethan checked his watch, growing impatient. When he saw Morgan rush in, looking a mess, he was surprised. "What happened to you?"
Morgan's forehead was bleeding, and his lab coat was stained with blood and dirt.
Ethan's voice had a mix of surprise and concern.
Morgan grabbed some tissues to wipe the blood from his forehead. "Had a little accident on the way, but it's no big deal. Here's the report. You should go handle it."
Ethan took the report, feeling grateful. He nodded. "Nick, call an ambulance and take care of Morgan until it gets here!"
"Yes, Mr. Yates!"
Ethan turned and headed to the scene.
Reporters swarmed around, snapping photos of Ethan.
He held up the report. "Here's the evidence you wanted. See for yourselves!"
He placed the report on the table.
Even though Ethan hadn't opened the report, he was sure Nora wasn't his child.
The PR manager stepped forward, took the report, and opened it. His expression turned complicated. "Mr. Yates..."
He hesitated.
Ethan frowned and said coldly, "Read the results out loud!"
The manager swallowed nervously and read, "Ethan and Nora, parent-child relationship confirmed."
"So, they are father and daughter after all. Mr. Yates, are you still denying you have an illegitimate child?" someone shouted. "This evidence was presented by you personally. How can you still deny it?"
The scene erupted into chaos!
Ethan was stunned by the result, his face turning pale with anger. "What did you say?"
"Mr. Yates," the manager stammered, "the report shows that the result is indeed like this!"
Ethan couldn't believe it. He grabbed the report and started reading it himself.
Seeing the result, Ethan took a step back in shock!
How could this be?
Ethan was sure that Nora was not his child, and this DNA test was done by his most trusted friend Morgan. How could the result still show a parent-child relationship?
Could Ethan really have slept with Yara without knowing it? Ethan's face turned pale, and he couldn't hear any of the reporters' questions. He felt like his world was collapsing!
Ethan murmured, "Impossible, this is absolutely impossible!"
"Mr. Yates, the facts are clear. Do you have anything to say?" a reporter asked.
"Mr. Yates, will you divorce your current wife and marry the third party?" another asked.
"No!" Suddenly, a voice rang out at the scene. It wasn't loud, but it carried an invisible power that made everyone hear it!
It was Ashley!
Ethan heard the familiar voice and instinctively looked in its direction.
Ethan murmured, looking at Ashley with guilt, not knowing how to face her.
Ashley looked at Ethan and smiled lightly, "Honey, sometimes the truth isn't in the report's results. The testimony of the key person is also very important!"
The key person?
Yara?
Yes, Ethan was still waiting for Yara to explain everything!
Just as he was thinking this, Ashley looked at the crowd and said, "Come in."
The crowd made way, and Yara walked towards Ashley with her head down. Yara seemed very scared, and Ashley held her hand, encouraging her warmly, "Don't be afraid, I will protect you."
Ashley held the hand of the third party and comforted her in public, how foolish was Ashley!
Yara bowed to the reporters and said, "Everyone, I want to clarify that Mr. Yates and I have never had a relationship. As for the DNA test results, it was a misunderstanding. In short, the child is not Mr. Yates' biological child!"
With that, the crowd was in an uproar.
"Ma'am, you say the child isn't Mr. Yates', so why does the DNA test show a match? And from two different hospitals!" Someone asked. "Are you lying because they paid you?"
Another chimed in, "Right, if the child isn't Mr. Yates', then who is the father?"
The reporters bombarded Yara with questions, leaving her at a loss. Yara looked at Ashley in fear and unconsciously hid behind her.
Ashley held Yara's hand and encouraged her, "Don't be afraid, speak up bravely. We'll deal with the rest later!"
Yara nodded, took a deep breath, and mustered the courage to say, "The child's father is Liam."
At this moment, Liam was watching the live broadcast. When he heard Yara's words, he was so shocked that he dropped his phone.
