Chapter 386 Ethan
Ethan turned around and saw Ashley on the phone. He silently mouthed, "Who are you talking to, darling?"
Ashley gestured toward her phone and whispered, "It's William. You can go ahead without me."
Ethan nodded. "Go sit in the garden. Don't tire yourself out standing."
Ashley smiled softly and followed his suggestion, sitting down to continue her call. Ethan headed back to the bedroom to change clothes.
"Ashley!" William's voice exploded with excitement through the phone. "You'll accept the title?"
Ashley nodded solemnly, "Yes, William, I accept."
William's voice quivered, "That's wonderful! I couldn't have hoped for a better successor."
"William, is all this excitement really necessary?" Ashley asked.
"When can you come back? I need to arrange the formal handover ceremony," William pressed.
After a moment's thought, Ashley replied, "I'll return today. There's also something important I need to discuss with you in person."
"Perfect. I'll be waiting."
After ending the call, Ashley returned to find Ethan buttoning a fresh shirt. The way his fingers worked the buttons was both elegant and subtly sensual.
"Let me help you with that," Ashley offered, stepping forward to fasten his buttons.
Ethan lowered his hands and watched as she worked, their faces inches apart, their breath mingling in the small space between them.
"There, all done," Ashley said, but before she could continue, Ethan wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into a passionate kiss.
By the time they broke apart, Ethan's freshly changed shirt was hopelessly wrinkled.
"Look what you've done," Ashley teased, slightly breathless. "Your shirt is completely wrinkled now."
Ethan gave her a mischievous smile. "Then help me take it off. I'll put on another one."
Ashley obliged, not thinking much of it. After all, someone of Ethan's stature couldn't possibly go to work in a rumpled shirt.
"Are you still going to work today?" she asked while unbuttoning his shirt. "Didn't the doctor advise you to rest?"
"I've already instructed Diannel that I'll be working from home for a while. Important matters can be handled here," Ethan replied.
"That's perfect," Ashley said. "I just spoke with William. He needs me to visit the estate today. Since you're resting, why don't you come with me?"
"Of course," Ethan agreed without hesitation.
By now, Ashley had removed Ethan's shirt, oblivious to his increasingly intense gaze. "I'll get you another shirt from the closet," she said.
As she turned to leave, Ethan embraced her from behind.
"What are you doing?" Ashley asked.
Ethan whispered something provocative in her ear, causing her to blush instantly.
He began to trail kisses along her ear, gently taking her earlobe between his lips. This was her most sensitive spot, and she quickly melted into his embrace.
His lips moved to the back of her ear, where he noticed her birthmark. "Your birthmark is beautiful," he murmured, planting more kisses there.
Ashley blushed deeper, her body responding to his touch as she leaned back against him.
Standing on his balcony, Josselin observed the surveillance team monitoring him below and smirked coldly.
His phone rang – it was Tony. "How are things proceeding?" Josselin answered.
"Ethan says he'll hold a press conference in three days to announce the partnership with the four companies," Tony reported.
"Excellent. We're done here," Josselin replied curtly.
"Wait," Tony interjected. "How is George doing?"
Josselin glanced contemptuously at the disheveled figure sprawled on the couch. "Drunk, as usual. Hasn't been sober in days."
"Josselin, please look after him. He's still my..."
"Yes, I know," Josselin cut him off. "Goodbye."
After hanging up, Josselin looked disdainfully at the unshaven George. "Poor thing, thrown out of the Yates Group. You're on your own now."
As he turned to leave, George's phone rang. Josselin hesitated, then answered it.
"George? I've been trying to reach you," Ava's voice came through. "There's something important you need to know."
"Ms. Lacey, you can tell me instead," Josselin replied.
"Josselin?" Ava paused. "Can we meet in person? It's about Ethan."
Anything concerning Ethan immediately piqued Josselin's interest. "Half an hour," he agreed.
Disguising himself as a pregnant woman, Josselin slipped past his watchers and met Ava at a discreet location.
"What's this about?" he demanded.
Ava handed him a document. "It's Ethan's DNA report. See for yourself."
Josselin opened it and, scanning the results, began to smile. "Who would have thought? The aristocratic Ethan Yates is nothing but a bastard."
