Chapter 185 Acquiring Yates Mansion and the Yates Group?
The Yates Mansion
The Yates family was freaking out over this unexpected mess. Michael sat at the head of the table, looking serious, trying to figure out a solution.
James was pacing like crazy, clearly stressed out.
Michael snapped, "Can you stop pacing? You're making me dizzy. If you can't sit still, get out!"
James, still anxious, said, "Dad, we need a plan. We can't just sit here and let the company go under. Those companies that used to fight to work with us are now avoiding us. When trouble hits, you see their true colors."
Michael shrugged it off. "The Yates Group has been through worse. It's just the after-sales service for the royal order. If we handle it right, we might not lose money."
James argued, "But we're already losing money! We can't reach Ethan, senior execs are causing trouble, and the media is all over us, causing panic. Our stock dropped so much we lost over a billion dollars in one day!"
James had a pounding headache, and Michael was no less anxious.
Ivy chimed in coldly, "It's all Ashley's fault. Ever since she married into the Yates family, nothing good has happened!"
Michael sternly replied, "What does this have to do with Ashley? Don't blame her for everything. While I was away, did you bully her?"
Ivy quickly put on a sweet face. "Dad, how could I bully Ashley? She's still my daughter-in-law, right?"
"You and James are divorced, yet you still call me Dad. If you really want to reconcile with James, go talk to the Xavier family and see if they can help."
Ivy's face fell. James, who had been hopeful, felt disappointed and angry seeing Ivy's awkward smile.
"Dad, ever since I married into the Yates family, I'm no longer part of the Xavier family. How can I ask them for money?"
"I knew you'd say that. If you can't help, then leave. Don't add to the trouble."
Ivy's face turned red with anger. She stomped her foot, bit her lip, and stormed out, muttering, "Michael, if it weren't for the Yates family's assets, who would want to come to you? When you lose everything, I'll be the one looking down on you."
Just as she reached the corner, she bumped into someone and screamed.
Ivy yelled, "Who is it? Can't you watch where you're going?"
Catherine said, "Oh, Ivy, did you eat a bomb? Why are you so angry?"
"Catherine?" Ivy, puzzled, then saw George beside her.
"Aunt Ivy."
"Hey," Ivy responded, then asked, "What brings you here?"
Catherine said, "We heard the Yates family is in trouble, so we came to see if we could help."
"Thank you so much. It's true friendship in times of need."
Ivy hugged Catherine and said, "I just had a falling out with Michael. You go in and talk to him."
"Alright."
Ivy watched Catherine and George enter the room. Curious, she stayed close to eavesdrop.
She saw Catherine and George sit down, exchange a few pleasantries, and then get straight to the point.
Inside, Michael's furious voice could be heard. "You want to acquire the Yates mansion and the Yates Group?"
"Mr. Michael Yates, don't be angry. The Yates family is up against the royal family this time. We're outmatched, and the outcome is likely to be unfavorable."
"George is also part of the Yates family. We're willing to buy the Yates mansion and your shares in the Yates Group. It's a true act of friendship. Who else would dare take on this mess?"
"We're offering $100 million for the Yates mansion and $150 million for the Yates Group, a total of $250 million. What do you think?"
"Mr. Michael Yates, you're getting on in years. Stop struggling with business matters. Take this opportunity to secure some money for retirement. Otherwise, you might end up with nothing."
"You..."
Michael stood up in anger. His chest hurt so much from the rage that he clutched his chest in pain, his face contorted.
