Chapter 350 Discovered Important Information

The family of four tried to shake off the tension and settled on the couch.

Ashley gently placed a warm towel on the bump on Ethan's head.

Seeing the injury, Ashley asked worriedly, "Babe, does it hurt?"

Michael had really whacked him hard with that cane. Ashley felt torn up inside, and guilty too. If Ethan hadn't shielded her during that accident, who knows what could've happened.

Of course, Ethan was hurting, especially from that last hit on his head, making his chest feel tight. But since there were no visible injuries, he didn't think much of it.

Seeing Ashley cry so hard, Ethan quickly reassured her, "Babe, don't cry. I'm fine. It doesn't hurt at all."

Hearing this, Ashley felt even more heartbroken.

Ashley gently touched Ethan's wound and blew on it softly.

With a regretful look, Michael suggested, "Ethan, maybe you should go to the hospital for a check-up. That bump looks pretty bad. I was just so mad and misunderstood you, that's why I hit you so hard."

Ethan replied, "It's okay. You had every right to be strict. If I had really betrayed Ashley, you would've been justified in beating me to death!"

Michael and Katherine sighed. It was clear now that this was all a big misunderstanding.

Katherine asked, "Can you explain what happened?"

Feeling wronged, Ethan recounted, "I was on a business trip and accidentally hit Annie with my car. George asked me to take care of her. Last night, Annie had a stomachache, and the nurse was off, so I had to take her to the hospital. When we got back, Annie kept causing trouble and insisted I stay to take care of her. I had no choice, so I didn't come home last night."

Ethan raised his hand and swore, "Babe, I swear, I slept in a separate room last night. I didn't do anything with Annie. I even locked the door from the inside. If I'm lying, may God punish me..."

Ashley covered his mouth and chided playfully, "Babe! Don't swear like that. I've calmed down now. Since I've chosen to trust you, I won't doubt you anymore."

Overwhelmed with emotion, Ethan hugged Ashley tightly and expressed his gratitude, "Babe, thank you for trusting me."

Ethan held Ashley like she was the most precious thing in the world. Through their clothes, Ashley could feel his strong heartbeat. She felt bad for her earlier irrational behavior.

Ashley, almost out of breath from Ethan's embrace, gasped, "Babe, let go of me. I can't breathe."

Ashley's face turned red, and Michael and Katherine were still watching from the side.

Reluctantly, Ethan let go of Ashley.

Katherine asked, "Ethan, are you saying that George's girlfriend Annie deliberately clung to you last night, making you stay out all night?"

Ethan nodded, "Yeah, Katherine, have you met her?"

Katherine's face turned serious. "Yesterday, Ashley and I ran into her while shopping. I got a bad vibe from her. George is such a straightforward guy; why would he be with someone like that?"

Ethan agreed, "I think Annie's up to something too, Katherine. Maybe George is being played."

Katherine thought for a moment, "That's possible."

Ashley jumped in, "Babe, why is Annie clinging to you? What's her game? Does George know about this, or is he just letting her do whatever she wants? Or is there something else going on?"

Ashley's questions were spot on, and everyone fell into deep thought.

After a bit, Michael spoke up, "Ethan, there's something I haven't told you."

Michael's eyes flickered like he remembered something important.

Ethan asked, "What is it?"

Michael explained, "During our family's last crisis, you were in Ferndale dealing with after-sales stuff. You didn't know that George and his mom came to the mansion that day and tried to buy this old house for cheap. I was furious and kicked them out."

This memory had always stuck with Michael.

Now, thinking about Annie's actions and her connection to George, and remembering what George and his mom did, these two events seemed unrelated, but when put together, Michael sensed a bigger, more intricate plot.

"What?" Ethan exclaimed, clearly shocked. "Grandpa, why didn't you tell me about this? How could George do something like that?"

Michael reasoned, "That's just how things go. When someone's down, others try to take advantage. But later, the crisis was resolved, and George and his mom didn't bring it up again. They even apologized, so I let it go."

Ethan's face turned serious.

Connecting these events, he felt things were more complicated. "Could it be that George isn't as simple as he seems?"

Ashley analyzed, "So, George sent Annie to mess with us? What's his endgame?"

Ethan's eyes narrowed as he thought, "Could it be about our family's property? Even though he shares our last name, George is from a different branch. Maybe he's trying to take our family's assets?"

Just then, Ethan's phone rang. After answering, he said, "Keep pressing her. If Annie doesn't talk, scare her a bit."

Ashley, seeing him hang up, asked cautiously, "Babe, what's going on?"

Ethan replied, "Annie's been tight-lipped and won't talk. She even asked to speak with you. I think she's not ready to give up!"

A mischievous glint flashed in Ashley's eyes. "Babe, I've got an idea. Why don't we turn her own tricks against her?" she suggested.
