Chapter 342 The Mysterious Man He Bumped Into
Doris blurted out, "Ethan, did you check out those documents I gave you? That Josselin guy is probably K. K is a sneaky con artist. If we let Josselin in on the investment and he bails halfway, what then?"
Ethan shot back, "Mom, I've already had someone look into it in Maridia. Josselin and K aren't the same person."
Seeing the resolve in Ethan's eyes, Doris knew he wasn't going to budge. She asked, "Ethan, why give Josselin two-thirds? The Jones family can put in two-thirds too!"
Ethan replied, "Mom, you know how it is. With such a big opportunity, everyone wants a piece. If our family takes the majority, it could cause a lot of backlash."
Doris thought it over and realized Ethan had a point. She nodded and said, "Alright, let's do it your way. As for the profit split, let the legal teams from both sides handle it."
"Okay," Ethan said. "I've got a shareholders' meeting at the company today, so I need to head out. Take care of yourself."
Doris nodded, "Alright, go on."
As Ethan left, Doris couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was looming.
Ethan walked into the hospital lobby and accidentally bumped into someone in the crowd.
The person's documents went flying everywhere.
"Watch where you're going!" the assistant next to the person snapped, "Do you even know who he is? How dare you bump into him?"
Ethan shot the assistant a cold glare, making him shiver.
The person Ethan bumped into was a middle-aged man in his fifties.
He looked like he was of mixed race, with deep-set features and slight wrinkles on his handsome face. Even in middle age, he still had a certain charm and an impressive presence. His tailored suit screamed nobility and power.
The man locked eyes with Ethan, and for a moment, it felt like there was some kind of connection between them.
Ethan said, "Sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you."
The man chuckled and said, "It's alright. My assistant was out of line. I apologize for his behavior."
Ethan glanced at the scattered documents, "Let me help you pick these up."
The man crouched down too, helping Ethan gather the papers.
Ethan couldn't help but notice a few words and a confidential stamp on the documents. He raised an eyebrow instinctively.
The man's assistant snatched the documents from Ethan's hand, "What are you looking at? These aren't for you."
The man warned, "Larsen!"
The man said, "Sorry about that. I hope Larsen didn't scare you."
Ethan replied, "It's fine. I've got things to do. Goodbye."
With that, he turned and walked away. The man watched him go, deep in thought.
Larsen said, "I saw him peeking at the documents earlier. Should we...?"
The man shot Larsen a cold glare, "Cut it out. We're in Aivalia, not Ferndale! That guy was just a passerby. He probably couldn't even read those documents. Let's go, she's still waiting for me."
"Got it."
The man turned and headed to the hospital room.
Ethan left the hospital, thinking about the little incident earlier.
Even though the documents were in Ferndale language, Ethan could understand them. He saw they were confidential national documents from Ferndale.
No wonder the assistant had such an attitude. Those documents definitely shouldn't be seen by an outsider before they were made public.
It seemed that man had quite an important identity!
For some reason, even though it was Ethan's first time meeting him, he felt an odd sense of familiarity.
Ashley didn't wake up until after nine in the morning. After breakfast, she linked arms with Katherine and said affectionately, "Grandma, how about we go shopping together?"
"Sure."
Michael, looking concerned, said, "Ashley is pregnant. If she gets tired while shopping, it wouldn't be good. How about you take two bodyguards with you for safety?"
"That works," Katherine nodded.
Neither Ashley nor Katherine objected. Ashley helped Katherine into the car before getting in herself. They arrived at the bustling Aurora shopping mall and started strolling around.
Ashley pushed Katherine's wheelchair, and Katherine worried, "Ashley, are you tired? How about letting the bodyguard push me instead?"
"Grandma, I'm not tired. There's a store ahead that sells clothes for your age. Shall we take a look?"
Katherine shook her head, "I'm old now. What's the point of buying so many clothes? Ashley, there's a baby section over there. Let's go buy some clothes for the future great-grandchild."
"Alright then."
Ashley changed direction and pushed Katherine to the baby section. Katherine looked at the children's clothes and shoes, overwhelmed by the variety.
Katherine picked up a pair of children's shoes, unable to put them down, "Ashley, look at these shoes. They're so cute. Let's buy them."
"Grandma, the baby is still small. It's too early to buy shoes." Ashley looked around, "How about we look at clothes instead? After all, babies can't wear shoes yet."
"Alright."
They turned their attention to the children's clothes. The baby clothes were so soft. Ashley felt a sweet sensation in her heart as she imagined dressing her baby.
"Isn't this Ashley? What a coincidence!" a woman said.
Ashley looked up at the voice and saw that it was Annie.
