Chapter 130 Going to the Hospital for a Checkup
"Ashley, let's go!" Samantha yelled, snapping Ashley out of her thoughts about Ethan.
"Okay," Ashley croaked, her heart heavy.
As they left, Ethan watched with a sly grin. "Ashley, don't even think about leaving me. I'll make you come back willingly," he muttered before walking away.
Ashley and the group went to find May and Ryan. Ryan showed up quickly after their call, only to freeze when he saw Pauline, blushing and at a loss for words.
May smirked, glancing at Pauline. "Mr. Reid, you're here?"
Ryan coughed awkwardly.
"Good evening, Mr. Reid. Have a seat," May said, pulling him next to Pauline.
"Mr. Reid, you got drunk after just a few drinks last night. By the way, I put you and Pauline in the same hotel. Nothing happened, right?" May teased.
Ryan felt embarrassed, but Pauline stayed composed. "May, Mr. Reid is a police officer, not someone with bad intentions."
May's eyes sparkled. "So, nothing happened?"
Both blushed. Pauline snapped, "Do you want something to happen between us? Is that why you put us in a room?"
May was taken aback.
"You're too much, joking about this," Pauline added angrily.
Ryan chimed in, "Ms. Jareau, we were all drunk, and nothing happened. Please don't say things that could harm her reputation."
May's face twitched. Instead of gossip, she got a scolding.
Pauline warned, "I'll let it slide this time, but if it happens again, I'll tell Ashley."
May, realizing she went too far, apologized. "I'm sorry. Please don't tell Ashley."
Pauline huffed, "Good thing Mr. Reid is decent. If it were someone else..."
She turned away, fuming. May looked at Ryan for help, but he just shrugged, avoiding her gaze.
Though nothing happened that night, they did accidentally kiss in the morning, making Ryan's heart race. Seeing Pauline now made him feel awkward.
Ryan sneaked a glance at Pauline. She seemed unfazed. He wondered if he was overthinking things. It seemed she had no romantic feelings for him.
The room fell silent, everyone lost in thought, until a knock on the door broke the tension.
"Come in!" Samantha said, pushing Ashley in, followed by Landon and Liam.
"Ashley..." Pauline and May stood up.
Ashley nodded. "Mr. Reid, if someone doesn't know if they've been violated, what should they do?"
Ryan replied, "Just go to the hospital for a check-up."
Ashley felt silly for forgetting. "Right. Landon, take Samantha to the hospital!"
