Chapter 336 Ashley Gets Scratched by Bolt
The White Mansion
Ashley was supposed to come back for lunch, but she got caught up comforting Yara and missed it. So, by dinner time, she and Ethan finally made it to the White Mansion.
Landon took a sip of his coffee and said, "Ashley, I caught the live stream of today's press conference. I can't believe Nora is Liam's kid!"
"Yeah, I was shocked too. Liam and Yara don't seem to know each other that well, so it was a real surprise they had a child together," Ashley replied, glancing around. "By the way, where's Liam?"
Landon shrugged, "How would I know?"
Then he added, "Oh, and congrats on the pregnancy, Ashley. I had the kitchen whip up a nutritious meal for you. Make sure you eat plenty."
Ashley smiled, "Thanks, Landon."
Landon smiled back, poured some more coffee, and offered, "Ethan, want some coffee?"
Ethan, who had been quiet, smiled and said, "Sure."
The two men sipped their coffee leisurely. Ashley, with a content smile, enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone approaching. It was Felicity. Ashley's eyes narrowed.
Felicity walked up and said, "Ashley and Ethan are here. Landon, why didn't you call me down to greet them?"
Her tone was a bit reproachful.
Landon frowned, clearly annoyed.
Felicity continued, "Ashley, make yourself at home. I made some desserts that will be ready soon. You should try them."
Ashley raised an eyebrow, thinking, why should she be polite in her own home?
Ethan, noticing this, sneered.
Landon, impatient, said, "Felicity, stop acting like you're the hostess. This is the White Mansion. Ashley is part of our family. Remember, Ashley is the host, and you're not even a guest!"
Felicity's face turned red with anger and embarrassment.
Ashley coughed lightly, "Landon, you're being too harsh."
Seeing Felicity in the White Mansion, Ashley figured Landon might have taken responsibility and acknowledged their relationship. But judging by Landon's attitude, he was clearly mad at Felicity's presence.
And rightly so, who would be kind to someone who schemed against them?
"I'll go talk to Felicity over there," Ashley said, getting up and pulling Felicity aside. Ethan stopped her, "No, you need to stay where I can see you."
Ethan didn't trust Felicity, who was very cunning.
Ashley reassured him, "Don't worry, this is the White Mansion. What can Felicity do to me?"
She added playfully, "We're just going to have some girl talk. Don't eavesdrop," and pulled Felicity away.
Watching them, Landon felt a bit resentful. Noticing this, Ethan said, "Landon, calm down. Don't get worked up over people like her."
Landon took a deep breath, trying to keep his cool, and said, "I found a place for Felicity, but she insisted on staying here, threatening to die if she couldn't. Every time I see her, I think of that night I was set up, and it just makes my blood boil!"
Ethan got it. Being drugged and taken advantage of by a scheming woman, who now used her pregnancy to make demands, would freak any guy out. They'd just want to stay far away!
Ethan asked, "So, what's your next move?"
Landon replied coldly, "I'll take care of the kid, but Felicity's going back to prison!"
Ethan didn't argue and just said, "Fine."
Meanwhile...
Ashley and Felicity sat down on the living room sofa to chat.
Ashley cut to the chase, "Felicity, have you confirmed your relationship with Landon?"
She asked because Felicity had been talking like she was the lady of the house.
Felicity lowered her eyes and said, "No, Landon doesn't like me. I'm only here because I threatened him with the baby."
Hearing this, Ashley rubbed her temples in frustration.
Felicity was pitiful, and Ashley actually wanted to help her. However, Felicity had done something wrong and needed to take responsibility for it.
Now, Felicity was staying at the White Mansion because she was pregnant.
Seeing the strained relationship between Felicity and Landon, Ashley felt soft-hearted and wanted to persuade her.
Ashley said, "Landon's a good guy, even if he seems cold. Sometimes his words can be harsh, but he doesn't mean any harm."
"Felicity, if you really like Landon, try being more considerate and caring towards him. Don't just threaten him with the baby, that'll only make him hate you more!" Ashley warned, "I can't meddle in your business, but I hope things work out for everyone. Felicity, take care of yourself. If you hurt Landon, I won't let it slide!"
Ashley was still upset about Felicity and couldn't forgive her actions.
Felicity looked ashamed, "I get it. I'll be twice as good to Landon from now on. I don't expect him to like me, I'll be happy as long as he doesn't kick me out."
Ashley carefully observed Felicity and saw her determined expression. She knew Felicity truly loved Landon. Ashley thought, 'Since Felicity loves Landon, she wouldn't do anything to hurt him.'
"Alright, I'll trust you one more time!" Ashley relaxed, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw Bolt. She called out, "Bolt, come here."
Bolt heard Ashley's voice and happily wagged his tail, running over to nuzzle her. Ashley gently petted Bolt's fur.
Suddenly, Bolt saw Felicity and jumped up in fright, barking loudly. In his agitation, his claws accidentally scratched Ashley's delicate skin.
Instantly, several bloody marks appeared on Ashley's arm!
Hearing the commotion, Ethan rushed in, "Honey, what happened?"
