Chapter 378 He's Going to Get a Vasectomy for Her

"Really?" Ethan frowned.

"Of course," Ashley replied.

As they spoke, the nurse wheeled Sienna out of the delivery room. Nathan approached, holding the baby in one arm while grasping her hand with the other. "I'm sorry I was late, honey," he apologized.

Sienna smiled weakly. "You needed to work. I don't blame you."

"Let me see our baby," she said.

Nathan placed the baby beside Sienna, and as she gazed at him, her eyes filled with boundless maternal love and tenderness. "He's so precious."

Soon after, Sienna was moved to her hospital room. After she was settled in bed, Ethan and Ashley remained while Nathan and Sienna basked in their joy.

Looking at the baby's face, Ashley remarked, "Sienna, I think the baby looks more like you."

"I think so too—he has my exact nose and mouth," Sienna agreed.

She continued, "Ashley, thank you for staying with me today. You're my daughter's godmother, and now I want you to be his godmother too."

"Absolutely!" Ashley replied enthusiastically.

Ashley gazed at the peacefully sleeping infant. "Sleep tight, little one. Ethan and I are leaving now, but we'll be back with gifts soon."

Sienna looked disappointed. "You're leaving already?"

Ashley nodded. "We don't want to intrude on your family time. We'll come back to see the little one soon."

"Alright then," Sienna relented. "I'll treat you to dinner after I'm discharged."

Ethan took Ashley's hand, and they left the hospital room together.

Back in the car, Ethan seemed lost in thought and didn't start the engine.

"Honey, why aren't we moving?" Ashley asked curiously.

Ethan was reflecting on Sienna's childbirth experience. Though he hadn't seen it directly, just hearing those piercing screams made him realize how painful childbirth truly was.

Looking at Ashley with guilt, Ethan said, "I'm so sorry, sweetheart."

"Why are you apologizing?"

Ethan pulled Ashley into his arms.

His voice was muffled as he explained, "I had no idea childbirth was so excruciating. If I'd known, I would have been more careful with contraception to spare you that suffering."

Ashley responded, "Darling, what married couple doesn't want children? If I can get pregnant, it means these babies are meant to be in our lives. Even though labor is painful, I'm willing to go through it for you."

Ethan insisted, "I don't care. After these twins are born, we're not having any more children."

Ashley was shocked. "Why not? We're both so good-looking—our children will be brilliant!"

"Just remembering Sienna's screams makes my skin crawl," Ethan said. "If I could, I'd take that pain instead of you. That's why I'm planning to get a vasectomy."

Ashley was deeply moved, nearly crying. She knew Ethan couldn't bear to see her in pain, and his willingness to undergo surgery for her sake touched her heart profoundly.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him passionately. Ethan responded to her fervor, and they shared a long, intimate kiss in the car.

When they finally pulled apart, they were both breathless in each other's arms.

"Darling, don't be ridiculous," Ashley murmured, nestled against him. "I'm happy to have your children. Yes, there's pain, but there's also joy. I won't let you get a vasectomy. Promise me you won't."

Ethan's expression remained determined.

Once his mind was made up, nothing could change it.

He had already decided that after the twins were born, he would definitely get the procedure done.

But to reassure Ashley, he said, "I promise."

"That's better. Men shouldn't get vasectomies anyway!"

Ashley wondered silently what would happen if something were to happen to her and Ethan had already had a vasectomy—would he be left without heirs?

Wait, why was she even thinking such morbid thoughts?

Ashley kissed Ethan's cheek. "Let's go home."

"Alright."

Ethan drove them home. As they arrived, they spotted Michael pushing Katherine's wheelchair around the garden.

Seeing them, Michael called out, "Ethan and Ashley, you're back!"

Ashley greeted them.

Ethan explained, "We went to the hospital for Ashley's prenatal checkup today, and happened to be there when her friend gave birth. She's a bit tired, so I'm taking her upstairs to rest."

Michael smiled and waved. "Go ahead."

As Ethan led Ashley toward the house, Michael called after them, "Ethan, Ashley, are you free this afternoon?"

They paused. "What is it?"

Michael said, "Katherine has a follow-up appointment at the hospital this afternoon. If you're available, perhaps we could all go together?"

Ashley looked at Katherine, noting how much her complexion had improved since taking the Panacea. Perhaps today's hospital visit would bring good news!

"Sure," Ashley replied. "Just call us when it's time to leave, and we'll go to the hospital together."
