Chapter 276 Swallowed the Yates Group's Wealth?
The Next Day
Ethan rolled outta bed at the crack of dawn.
Last night's drama with Ivy had him all twisted up, but after some shut-eye, he was feeling way better.
He glanced at the woman snoozing next to him, planted a kiss on her forehead, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
Ashley felt him move and cracked her eyes open just in time to see Ethan's back as he made his way to the bathroom. She dragged herself outta bed and followed him.
Hospital
Ivy was a hot mess last night, all bandaged up and looking rough.
Lucas was like, "Ivy, what the hell were you thinking, getting into it with Ethan like that?"
Ivy snapped back, "Dad, that jerk is a monster. If I knew back then, I would've just taken him out!"
"After all, he's not my real..."
Lucas got all paranoid, looking around, "Shut up, keep it down."
Little did they know, someone was eavesdropping. May, lurking by the door, caught every word.
Ashley had a hunch that Ivy wasn't Ethan's real mom, so she had May and Pauline dig around on the down-low.
Pauline hit up the police station for records, while May, hearing Ivy was in the hospital, came to snag a blood sample.
May muttered to herself, "Could it be true, like Ashley said, that Ivy ain't Ethan's real mom? Gotta get that blood sample ASAP to find out!"
In the Ward
Ivy was fuming, and Lucas sighed, "You've made things so tense. How are you gonna get back into the Yates family now?"
Ivy's eyes were dark, "Dad, last night, I was gonna spill the beans about Felicity's pregnancy."
"Who knew Ethan would sic a dog on me? He said I can't come back to the Yates family. How am I supposed to tell him about Felicity's pregnancy now?"
Lucas's eyes lit up with a sneaky glint, "If you can't go to the Yates family, get someone else to do it."
"What do you mean?" Ivy asked.
Lucas said, "Isn't Catherine your bestie? Get her to help."
Ivy laughed, "Dad, you really know how to cheer me up. I got it now."
They schemed in secret for about half an hour before Lucas finally bounced.
The Addison family
Catherine got wasted last night, and her room was littered with beer bottles. When she woke up, she still reeked of booze.
George came to check on her, and she was still drunk, not even close to sober.
George said, "Mom, why'd you drink so much?"
Catherine looked like she was in agony, "When are you gonna avenge your father? He died so horribly, and they're living it up. I hate them so much!"
George's eyes went dark, "Mom, I'm already plotting our revenge!"
Catherine, still tipsy, slurred, "I can't wait any longer. I wanna take out James and Ethan!"
She laughed like a maniac, "Yesterday, I almost had it. I saw the truck coming, and Ethan was about to be roadkill. Why did someone have to save him!"
"Mom!" George yelled, "Was yesterday's car accident your doing?!"
"Yeah!" Catherine spat, "I want Ethan to die a horrible death!"
George was livid, "Mom, how could you screw up my plans? Everything was going smoothly. Why did you have to pull this? What if Ethan gets suspicious!"
"I don't care. If it didn't work this time, I'll set up another one. I need to see Ethan dead!" Catherine sneered.
George felt a headache coming on. Dealing with a drunk was pointless. Despite his anger, he tried to calm her down, "Mom, you're wasted. I'll get the maid to make you some hangover soup. From now on, stay home and leave the revenge to me!"
After settling Catherine, George checked the time. It was almost time for work, so he rushed to the Yates Group.
In the car, his phone rang.
George answered, "Josselin."
"It's time to sign the contract with the Yates Group. No issues, right?"
George smirked, "Relax, the contract's getting signed today, no problem!"
A sinister laugh came from the other end, "I hear the Yates Group's loaded. Think it'll be enough to satisfy my appetite if I gobble it all up?"
A flicker of something crossed George's eyes, but he stayed silent.
Soon, he pulled up at the Yates Group.
He headed to the CEO's office and knocked, but no one answered. Just then, he spotted Diannel.
"Diannel, when's Mr. Yates getting here?" George asked.
Diannel replied, "I just got off the phone with him; he's on his way."
"Good." George checked the time, feeling a bit jittery for some reason.
As long as the contract got signed today, his plan could roll out smoothly.
Ethan was driving, with Ashley riding shotgun.
Ashley watched Ethan and noticed he seemed back to his old self, which made her feel better.
Ashley said, "Babe, you're signing the contract with Josselin today, right?"
Ethan nodded. "Yep."
Ashley said, "Babe, take my advice. Make sure to read the document Ms. Jones sent before you decide to sign the contract."
