Chapter 327 A Pair of Twins
Ethan had been pulling all-nighters for two days straight, and just as Ashley made her way back to the Yates Mansion, he finally wrapped up his work.
Ashley unpacked, freshened up, and couldn't wait to call Ethan. But, just her luck, Ethan had just boarded a plane, and his phone was out of range!
Hearing the automated message, "The number you have dialed is not reachable," Ashley felt a pang of disappointment.
Lying on the bed, she muttered, "Ethan, I'm home. Why aren't you picking up? Are you busy?"
She felt a mix of heartache for Ethan's hard work and a twinge of regret.
Holding the pregnancy test results in her hand, Ashley rolled over on the bed. Before long, she felt exhausted and drifted off to sleep.
She ended up sleeping for over two hours.
Ethan finally made it back to the Yates Mansion, looking worn out from his travels. Thomas greeted him at the door, "Mr. Yates, you're finally back."
Ethan asked, "Did anything happen while I was gone?"
Thomas replied, "Mrs. Yates is back and she's sleeping inside. Should I have a maid wake her up?"
Ashley was back?!
Ethan felt a rush of joy!
He had planned to get back to the mansion before Ashley to surprise her. But she beat him to it. They had been apart for more than half a month and missed each other like crazy, eager to reunite!
"No need," Ethan said with a gentle smile, "Let her rest."
Not wanting to disturb her, Ethan went to the guest room to freshen up. But he couldn't hold back his longing for Ashley and tiptoed into the master bedroom.
Ashley lay on the bed, her long, thick eyelashes making her look like a sleeping beauty.
Ethan slowly approached her, tracing her features with his fingertips. With each touch, his heart raced, feeling the presence of his long-lost love. His hands trembled as he gazed at her.
After more than half a month apart, Ashley had indeed put on a bit of weight, giving her a healthy, glowing appearance that exuded a subtle charm.
Ashley sensed something unusual. She opened her eyes and saw Ethan's handsome face up close. Thinking she was dreaming, she hugged Ethan's neck and said playfully, "Honey, I missed you so much."
"Sweetheart, I missed you too." Ethan's voice was low and husky as he leaned down, pressing against her, kissing her passionately.
Ashley was breathless and dizzy from Ethan's intense kisses.
Ethan moved from her lips to her eyebrows, nose, and continued downward, nuzzling his head against her chest.
Ashley murmured, "This dream feels so real. I can hardly breathe from your kisses."
Ethan paused, realizing she was still half-asleep, thinking she was dreaming.
He chuckled mischievously, "Sweetheart, I didn't know you had such naughty dreams!"
Ashley's face turned bright red.
Ethan's fingers roamed over her body, his voice low and husky, "Well, let's keep this dream going then."
Two hours later...
Ashley's scream echoed through the room, "Ethan! You're back! You jerk, how could you do this to me while I was asleep?"
Feeling quite satisfied, Ethan hugged her with a mischievous grin, "The dream ended too soon. Since you dreamed of me, I just went with the flow and did what needed to be done."
Ashley blushed from head to toe and said coyly, "You're so annoying!"
At first, she really thought she was dreaming. It wasn't until the last moment that she realized it wasn't a dream—Ethan had actually returned.
Ashley angrily pounded on his chest.
Ethan grabbed her hand, looking puzzled, "Sweetheart, what's wrong? Didn't you miss me?"
Both angry and embarrassed, Ashley threw the pregnancy test results from under the pillow at him, "See for yourself!"
Ethan, puzzled, took the test results and saw that she was seven weeks pregnant with twins.
His pupils dilated, and his hands trembled as he held the test results.
It took him a moment to come to his senses, his voice choked, "Sweetheart, you're pregnant?"
Ashley blushed and nodded shyly, "Yes, I just found out too!"
She carefully observed his expression, noticing his mouth half-open and his eyes wide with shock.
Ashley lowered her eyes in disappointment and said, "You don't like the babies?"
Ethan had thought she couldn't conceive. But the pregnancy test results in his hand felt like the best gift ever, leaving him shocked, excited, and grateful, with a complex expression on his face.
Hearing her disappointed voice, he immediately hugged her like a precious treasure, "Nonsense, how could I not like them!"
Ashley breathed a sigh of relief. She had been so nervous, fearing he wouldn't like the twins!
Ethan said excitedly, "Sweetheart, this is amazing. We're having kids, and they're twins. Why didn't you tell me earlier? Did we hurt them just now?"
Ashley pouted, "How dare you say that! If there's any problem with them, I won't forgive you!"
Ethan immediately scooped her up in a princess carry.
"What are you doing?" she exclaimed, shocked.
"Let's go. I'm taking you to the hospital for a check-up. We can't afford any mistakes with our babies!" Ethan replied.
