Chapter 563 Isabella's Boyfriend
"Callum, do you think Prince Totti will run in the next royal election?"
In a luxurious mansion, two middle-aged Ferndale men were deep in conversation. They were Alfonso Carr and Callum Taylor, both high-ranking officials in the Gold Valley District royal court.
Callum scoffed. "Even if he runs, he'll never win."
"What makes you say that? His talents are well-known. Why couldn't he be elected?"
"While King Garrett has half Aivalian blood, he looks completely Ferndalian. Prince Totti, on the other hand, has distinctly Aivalian features. There's no precedent for a foreigner becoming king. No matter how talented he is, it's impossible!"
Alfonso nodded thoughtfully. "You're right. With his Aivalian appearance, it truly is unlikely... So who do you think has the best chance in the next election?"
"With so many candidates, who can say for certain."
As they spoke, someone approached them.
Isabella dragged herself forward, her eyes hollow, moving like a walking corpse. She seemed not to notice them as she shuffled toward the stairs.
Callum sighed and called out, "Isabella!"
She paused, looking at him with dim eyes. "Dad, what is it?"
Callum took her hands, speaking earnestly. "Isabella, the dead cannot return to life. Robbie is gone. If he could see you so despondent every day, he would be heartbroken. You need to adjust and continue living. Don't you agree?"
Tears welled in Isabella's eyes. "Dad... without him, I can't go on!"
Suddenly, she laughed through her tears. "Before Robbie died, he donated his organs to those in need. I recently discovered his heart was transplanted into someone. Dad, I just want to hear his heartbeat again!"
"Isabella, don't do anything rash. You'll frighten people!"
Isabella smiled bitterly and repeated, "Dad, I just want to hear Robbie's heartbeat."
As she spoke, she noticed a stack of photographs on the table. One in particular caught her attention.
"Dad, where did you get this photo?"
The photo showed Ethan.
Why did her father have this picture? Did they know each other?
Isabella felt inexplicably excited.
Alfonso said, "Mr. Taylor, this is Prince Totti of Gold Valley District. His photos rarely appear in the media, so please be discreet after seeing this!"
Isabella looked surprised.
"He's Prince Totti?"
She had never seen Prince Totti before, though she had seen King Garrett. No wonder she saw the King in his hospital room today. She had assumed he was some high official, not someone of such noble birth.
"Yes, he's Prince Totti, known as Ethan in Aivalia! In six months, our discussion panel will join him in Aivalia to focus on developing the new company project."
Isabella's eyes suddenly lit up, bringing life back to her dull gaze. "Dad, could I join your discussion panel?"
Callum looked uncomfortable. "That decision lies with Prince Totti. He's very meticulous—only merit can convince him."
"I understand. I'll prove my worth to him!"
Isabella vowed silently, 'I must join the discussion panel and get close to Totti. Only then will I have a chance to hear Robbie's heartbeat again!'
The hospital
After their conversation, Garrett was impressed with Ashley. "Ashley, I'm surprised by your unique perspective."
Ashley smiled. "You're too kind, dad."
Beside them, Ethan gazed at her adoringly. "Dad, as I told you, Pearl is extremely capable. Having her co-manage theventure in Aivalia with me will only increase performance."
"Since you've convinced me, we'll proceed with the product naming as you suggested."
"Thank you for your trust, Dad."
Garrett looked at Ethan quizzically. "She's confirmed to be Ashley now, yet you still call her Pearl? It sounds strange."
Ethan smiled. "I'm just used to it. But speaking of names, Pearl, perhaps I should change what I call you to... darling."
Ashley blushed, tugging at his clothes shyly, her eyes seeming to say, 'Your father is right here, don't call me that.'
Seeing her embarrassment, Ethan grinned. "You are my wife, after all. Let me hear you call me 'darling'?"
Ashley's face reddened further. "Stop it."
Garrett's eye twitched as he awkwardly looked away.
"It's getting late. I should let you rest," Garrett said. "Ethan, focus on recovering over the next six months. Once you're in Aivalia, you'll have plenty to keep you busy."
"I understand."
"Dad, let us walk you out."
"No need!"
Garrett had no desire to witness more of the couple's affection. Ian stepped forward to escort him out.
After leaving the room, Garrett glanced back at Ethan.
Ethan's gaze remained fixed on Ashley as she blushed. He coaxed her gently, "Why so shy? I remember calling you 'darling' before. Come on, say it."
Ashley noticed Garrett looking their way and grew even more embarrassed. "Stop teasing me."
"Well... if you won't call me 'darling,' I feel heartbroken."
Seeing their devotion, Garrett felt both pleased and concerned. He shook his head and walked away.
