Chapter 393 Discovering Something Important
"I remember she was kidnapped from the wealthy district," Mia said. "Afterward, the kidnappers demanded ransom money. The meeting place was supposed to be in..."
Just as Mia was about to reveal the location, William interrupted, "I need to begin the treatment now. Everyone please stay quiet. Close your eyes, Ethan. No talking."
Ethan felt a surge of anticipation when Mia began speaking, and now frustration at William's interruption at this crucial moment.
Anxiety gnawed at him, but he reasoned that Mia would still be there after the treatment. He could ask her again later. With an uneasy mind, Ethan slowly closed his eyes.
William had already inserted needles at specific points on his head, targeting acupressure points for inducing sleep. Ethan quickly drifted off.
The next morning
Ethan jolted awake, looking around to find himself still in yesterday's clothes, lying on the bed.
After last night's treatment, he felt significantly better mentally. Just then, Liam returned from outside. "Ethan, you're up?"
"Yeah."
"How's your head feeling? William said last night that your bruising is almost gone. You just need one more treatment for a full recovery."
"When's the next session?"
"You'll have to ask him about that." Liam set down his belongings.
Ethan glanced over, surprised. "You went fishing this early?"
"There's no internet signal out here in the countryside," Liam replied. "Got to find some entertainment or I'd die of boredom."
Ethan's lips curled into a slight smile. "True enough. Call me next time you go fishing."
"Will do!"
Ethan looked around. "Where's Mia?"
"She's out walking with John."
Ethan nodded. "I need to talk to her. I'll go find them."
He set off to look for Mia, who was walking with John along a country path. Both appeared to be in good spirits. After a month in the countryside, they'd both gained a little weight and their complexions looked healthier.
Ethan spotted them from afar and greeted them.
They turned around. "Ethan, you're up. Feeling better?"
Ethan nodded. "My dizziness has improved significantly. Mom, I need to ask you something. Please answer me honestly."
Ethan was incredibly tense, his voice noticeably strained with apprehension.
Mia and John exchanged glances, confused by his serious demeanor.
Mia asked, "What's wrong? What question requires such gravity?"
"It's about Ashley," Ethan said. "I only learned yesterday that her nickname is Hayes, and that she was kidnapped from a wealthy neighborhood. Do you remember which neighborhood it was, and where the kidnappers asked you to bring the ransom?"
Mia thought carefully before answering. "We lived in an upscale neighborhood called Prestige Gardens. Only wealthy people lived there."
Prestige Gardens!
Ethan's eyes widened, his heart racing.
James and Ivy's marital home was in Prestige Gardens—that was once Ethan's home!
"After Hayes was kidnapped, the kidnappers specified a meeting place far away, in the Rocky Mountains, near Miren!"
The Rocky Mountains!
Ethan's face went pale and he stumbled, nearly falling.
How could everything align so perfectly? Every detail matched!
Ashley's nickname was Hayes, the location of her kidnapping matched Ethan's exactly, and even the ransom location was the Rocky Mountains.
Could it be?
Was the little girl who saved him not Ava but Ashley all along?
Complex emotions swirled in Ethan's eyes.
Mia and John were alarmed by his reaction.
"Ethan, what's wrong?" Mia asked.
Ethan's throat tightened as he fought back tears. With intense emotion, he said, "Mom, I think I've discovered something important, but I need to confirm it. When Ashley returns, I'll ask if she remembers what happened back then!"
If Ashley truly was the person who saved him...
What should he do?
Beyond endless gratitude and appreciation, what he felt most was the desire to cherish and love her forever.
