Chapter 215 New Project
They finished cleaning up the dishes, and it was already 9 PM.
"Ethan, you've been with me all day. If you have work, go ahead."
Ethan checked the time. "I have a video conference later. Are you going to exercise to help digest?"
"I'm too tired. I'll just watch some TV on the couch."
"Alright."
Ethan went to the study to grab his laptop.
Ashley curled up on the couch, opened an app, and started a random horror movie.
When Ethan came back, he saw the cover and said, "Watching a horror movie at night? Aren't you scared?"
Ashley smiled and shook her head. "No, I've got you to protect me."
Ethan grinned, set his laptop on the table, and sat cross-legged on the blanket.
Ashley heard him start the video call, so she put on her headphones. After a while, she shifted and lay down on Ethan's lap.
Ethan gently stroked her hair.
"Mr. Yates, our downtown land development project has started. We're planning a commercial area in the city center and are seeking financing. We have four potential partners interested."
"The Yeo family, the Jones family, the Zito family, and... George..."
Ethan asked, "George?"
"Yes."
Ethan rubbed his chin. "George is investing and might think this project is good, so he's willing to put money into it... Have you checked the backgrounds of the other families?"
"Yes, we've checked. Each potential partner has a clean background with no bad reputation. However, the Jones family..." The other person cautiously said, "Ms. Jones from the Jones family seems to be your father's ex!"
"Doris Jones?"
Ethan could never forget this name because he heard it every time his parents argued.
Although Ethan had never met Doris, he felt an immense dislike for her existence!
"Mr. Yates, yes!"
Ethan sneered, "Remove the Jones family and find another financing partner."
"But..."
The other person said, "Our project has already started, and we need to finalize the list of financing partners within this week because we have a press conference next Monday!"
Ethan looked at the time. "Isn't there still three days left?"
"I'll give you three days to find a trustworthy partner."
There was silence on the other end of the line.
Ethan coldly commanded, "Continue the meeting."

The White family.
Landon and Liam were at home, one on his phone and the other reading, with a cat napping in their lap.
"Landon, check this out."
"The Yates Group is planning to build a commercial area on Market Street. They just need financing partners!"
"Market Street's a development zone. Once it's built up, it'll be a goldmine. Anyone partnering with the Yates Group will make bank."
Landon shrugged. "What does that have to do with us? We're not in real estate or finance."
Liam grinned. "We could invest for fun. We won't lose money..."
Landon knocked on his head. "Just focus on running your hotels."
Liam sighed and went back to browsing the news.
Ferndale.
Ethan had been in the meeting for over an hour.
"Let's wrap up today's meeting..."
As soon as he finished, Ashley screamed and hugged Ethan's waist tightly.
The staff in the video conference, still online, thought something had happened to Ethan.
"Mr. Yates, are you alright..."
Then they saw delicate hands wrapped around Ethan's waist.
Everyone was shocked, their expressions like they'd been struck by lightning!
"What happened?"
Ethan's voice was gentle. "Ashley, what's wrong?"
Ashley trembled. "I'm scared..."
"Don't worry. Horror movies are all fake. I'll hold you, and nothing can harm you..."
Ethan noticed the staff still online. His gaze turned cold. "Mind your own business. Get back to work."
The staff quickly exited the video conference.
Ethan held Ashley. "If you're scared, you shouldn't watch it."
Ashley shook her head. "I'm scared, but I still want to watch..."
Ethan smiled. "I'll watch with you."
"Okay!"
Ashley leaned into Ethan's arms, and they watched the horror movie together.
Whenever a scary scene came up, Ethan would cover Ashley's eyes.
After the movie ended, Ashley was still trembling. Ethan held her. "I told you not to watch it, but you insisted... It's late. How about sleeping in my arms?"
Ashley blushed and buried her face in his chest. "Okay."
Ethan carried her to bed. They said they were going to sleep, but then...
