Chapter 605 Investigating the Truth

"What's happening? Who's screaming?" Ethan asked groggily as he was jolted awake.

Ashley stirred beside him. "Darling, get dressed. We should go check."

"Alright."

Meanwhile, in another room, Yaakov was also awakened by the scream. As he sat up, he winced at the soreness throughout his body.

Pulling back the covers, what he saw left him stunned. His peripheral vision caught the crimson stain on the sheets, and his face filled with horror. "I remember being with a woman last night... but if that was a dream, then what's with the blood?"

Atticus tumbled out of bed in shock when he saw Isabella beside him. "Isabella, what are you doing in my bed? Where are we? Is this the next day? Weren't we just having dinner last night?"

Isabella clutched the sheets to her body, her expression pained. "I... I don't know either." She covered her mouth as tears began to flow.

At that moment, Ashley and Ethan opened the door. Taking in the scene, they immediately understood.

"Atticus, Isabella, you two..."

Isabella glanced at Ethan, conflicted emotions washing over her as she realized she might have given her first time to him. When she looked at Ashley, guilt and remorse flashed in her eyes.

She had gotten close to Ashley to hear Robbie's heartbeat, but she never intended to become anyone's mistress.

"Ashley, I think someone set us up. He took advantage of me last night!" she said, pointing at Atticus.

"Pearl, I would never touch her. You know about my condition." Atticus protested.

Ethan looked puzzled. "What condition?"

Atticus's face turned crimson. How could he possibly explain such a thing in front of another man—especially his rival?

"Enough! Both of you men, get out!" Isabella demanded. She was barely covered, for heaven's sake!

Atticus and Ethan retreated to the living room. Ashley closed the door and found a bathrobe. "Isabella, put this on first."

"Thank you."

Isabella looked deeply at Ashley before adding, "Ashley, I'm sorry." The unspoken words hung in the air: 'I didn't mean to sleep with Ethan.'

Ashley shook her head. "You haven't done anything to apologize for. Why are you saying sorry?"

"I..." Isabella's tears flowed freely.

Ashley embraced her, feeling guilty herself. "Isabella, I'm the one who invited you to dinner. I never imagined something like this would happen. I'm the one who should apologize."

"Ashley, this whole situation is suspicious. We're all victims here. Let's investigate and get to the bottom of this."

"You're right," Ashley agreed. "Get yourself together first. Once we figure out what happened, we can discuss what to do about you and Atticus."

"Okay." Isabella nodded, silently vowing to herself that she would never tell Ashley the truth.

In the living room, Yaakov joined Ethan and Atticus. "What was all that about?"

Atticus ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. "I have no idea. I woke up and found Isabella in bed with me!"

'Did they sleep together?' Yaakov wondered skeptically. He had the distinct impression that he was the one who'd been with a woman last night.

Was it all just a dream? Embarrassment colored his face. Some things were better left unsaid.

Ethan pieced together the fragments of his memory. "Last night at the restaurant, we all passed out after drinking that tea. All five of us. And instead of someone calling the police, we were brought to this hotel? That's how all this happened. We need to go back to the restaurant and check their security footage."

Ashley emerged with Isabella, her arm supportively around the other woman's shoulders. "Isabella, maybe you should rest?"

Isabella shook her head firmly. "No, I have a flight to Aivalia tonight. I want to stay with you all and uncover the truth before I leave!"
