Chapter 503 Nate Gets Robbed
Diannel said, "Ethan, sit down. I'll tell you everything about your wife, step by step."
In the room, Ethan and Diannel took their seats. Diannel spoke eloquently, recounting every detail he knew about Ethan and Ashley's relationship—how they met, grew close, and fell in love...
Several hours later, Ethan's expression was distant, contemplative. "So Ashley and I were once passionately in love?" he said slowly.
"Yes, Ethan. What you and Ashley had was special—truly genuine."
They said Ashley and Pearl look identical!
As Ethan imagined the scenes Diannel described, he pictured Pearl's face instead. A sense of calm, warmth, and sweetness washed over him.
He realized his fixation on Pearl likely stemmed from his deep love for Ashley. Their striking resemblance explained why he couldn't let go.
Ultimately, he acknowledged his mistake—dragging an innocent woman into this as a substitute.
Seven days should be enough to sort out these feelings properly.
"Ethan, you look troubled. Is something bothering you?"
"There was, but I believe I've found clarity now."
"Oh?"
Diannel looked puzzled. Ethan smiled and said, "It's nothing. I know what I need to do."
Patting Diannel's shoulder, Ethan added, "I'll buy you a drink another day. Right now, I need to pick up the children from kindergarten."
"Sure."
As Ethan left the guest room, Ian approached with an update. "Your Highness, the car is ready. We've prepared a presidential suite at a hotel approximately half a mile from the palace. Ms. White's children can move in anytime."
"Good. Let's head to the kindergarten."
The kindergarten
With more than an hour before dismissal, the teacher organized an outdoor activity.
Andy had been distracted all day, missing much of what the teachers said.
"Andy, stay with the group. Don't fall behind!" a teacher called out.
Andy snapped back to attention. "Oh, right."
Nate, walking just ahead of his brother, noticed something was wrong. "Andy, what's going on? You never make mistakes in class, but today you've made several. What's troubling you?"
Andy's face scrunched with worry. "Nate, haven't you noticed Daddy acting strange? He keeps preventing us from seeing Mommy. Do you think something's happened to her?"
"You're overthinking. She video calls us every night!"
"That's exactly what's suspicious! During every call, she only shows half her face and nothing below her neck. I think she's injured and hiding it so we won't worry!"
Nate considered this carefully. "You might be right... Oh no! Mommy's hurt? How serious is it? Why wouldn't she tell us?"
Andy continued, "She's probably afraid of worrying us. Think about it—Mommy has never left us before, but now she's been gone for days. Isn't that suspicious?"
"When you put it that way, I think you're right!" Nate replied. "Andy, what should we do? Mommy won't tell us, and I'm really worried about her injuries!"
Andy thought for a moment. "When Dad picks us up later, we'll be absolutely insistent. We won't give up until he takes us to see Mommy."
"OK, mission accepted!"
As they talked, the class had already left the kindergarten and reached a nearby green area. The teacher announced, "Kids, today's activity is a great adventure game! I've buried dinosaur molds in the soil. Use your imagination and see if you can find them!"
"Andy, let's go dig for dinosaur molds!"
Andy nodded. "Alright."
He and Nate began searching, unaware they were drifting apart and moving farther from the group.
Nate wandered into a small grove of trees where he caught an unusual but enticing scent. He sniffed the air. "What's that smell? It's so sweet!"
The fragrance seemed to cloud his mind. Following the scent, Nate drifted deeper into the trees, his small figure gradually disappearing into the woods. Andy, who had just found a dinosaur figurine, noticed Nate's absence and looked around. He spotted Nate entering the forest and shouted, "Nate! Where are you going?"
Nate didn't seem to hear as the trees swallowed his figure.
Marc, hidden in the woods with a mask covering his face, held a strange bottle of perfume. Seeing Nate take the bait, his eyes flashed with malice.
Andy ran over and saw Marc grabbing Nate. "Let go of my brother, you villain!" he shouted.
Marc cursed under his breath. "Damn it!"
Andy yelled, "Teacher! There's a bad person here trying to take my brother!"
Marc hoisted Nate over his shoulder and ran. A car waited nearby; he tossed Nate inside and sped away.
The teacher rushed over in time to see Nate being taken. Andy stomped his foot in fury. "How dare you take my brother! You'll pay for this!"
When Andy spotted another car approaching, he didn't hesitate to throw himself in its path. "Stop! Stop the car!"
Liam leaned out the window and shouted, "Kid, what are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
