Chapter 341 I Prefer Having Daughters!
In the middle of their chat, Ethan had already scooped Ashley up and carried her into the master bedroom. She looked at him, waiting for his answer.
Ethan grinned, "I want both sons and daughters, but I gotta say, I prefer having daughters!"
Ashley raised an eyebrow. "But Grandpa and Grandma want grandsons!"
Ethan shrugged, "Doesn't matter if they're boys or girls, I'll love them all the same. If we have girls, we'll just try for a third. If we have boys, we'll still keep trying."
Ashley laughed, "If we have a boy and a girl, then there's no need for a third!"
"That's nonsense," Ethan said, pulling her close. "We can have as many as we want."
Ashley rolled her eyes and teased, "What, you think I'm some kind of breeding machine?"
Ethan chuckled, "Then I must be the boar."
Ashley giggled, "You're just a silly pig!"
"Did you just call me silly?" Ethan playfully pinned her down and started tickling her.
Ashley squirmed and laughed, "Stop it, honey, it's too much!"
Suddenly, Ethan leaned in and kissed her. They shared a passionate French kiss until they were both breathless.
Ethan's eyes were full of emotion. "Honey."
His voice was hoarse and sexy, "We can't, you know, for the first three months, right?"
Ashley nodded, "That's what the doctor said."
Ethan groaned and buried his head in her chest, rubbing against her. Ashley laughed, "Be good, honey. Just hang in there for a bit."
Ethan pouted, "Guess I have no choice. Come on, I'll carry you to wash up."
"I can do it myself."
But Ethan insisted. He carried her princess-style to the bathroom. What was supposed to be a quick wash-up turned into playful teasing, and they didn't settle down until late into the night.
Ashley was so tired she fell asleep in Ethan's arms as soon as she hit the bed.
Just then, Ethan's phone rang. It was Diannel calling.
Ethan, not wanting to wake Ashley, lowered his voice, "Hello, Diannel."
Diannel said on the other end, "Mr. Yates, I hope I'm not disturbing you."
Given the time difference, it was late at night for Ethan but afternoon for Diannel, so Diannel was worried about disturbing him but had work matters to report.
Ethan asked, "You've been investigating in Maridia for a while. Are K and Josselin the same person?"
Diannel replied, "I've interviewed all the CEOs who worked with Josselin and the companies that collaborated with K. After a thorough investigation, they are not the same person!"
Ethan trusted Diannel. Satisfied with the answer, Ethan said, "Alright, I understand. You can come back tomorrow."
"Okay, Mr. Yates."
Ethan didn't go back to sleep. His mind was buzzing with thoughts about the second round of financing for the central property and other plans he had in mind.
Meanwhile, in Maridia...
George and Josselin were at a bar, clinking their glasses with sinister smiles.
George said, "Ethan's really cautious. He sent someone to Maridia to check you out. Luckily, we found out in advance and tricked Diannel. Josselin, Ethan's definitely gonna sign the second round of financing with you. Cheers to our victory!"
Josselin smirked, "Cheers, and let's hope we can successfully take over the Yates Group!"
They drank their wine, both wearing sinister smiles but each harboring their own thoughts.
The next day...
Ethan got up early. Ashley was still asleep. He gently kissed her forehead, "Honey, I'm off to work."
Ashley stirred, hugged Ethan, and kissed him on the cheek, "I won't see you off today."
"I'll have the maid wake you up for breakfast later. Eat something before you go back to sleep," Ethan said.
Ashley mumbled a response. Ever since she got pregnant, she had been sleeping a lot and was always drowsy.
Ethan smiled at her adorable appearance, got dressed, and left.
"Ethan, heading to the office?" the driver asked.
Ethan said, "No, I'm going to the hospital first."
Ethan arrived at the hospital and went straight to Doris's room.
When Ethan entered the room, he saw Autumn feeding Doris some porridge. Doris looked well. Ethan asked, "Mom, you look good today. Are you still feeling dizzy?"
"Ethan, I'm much better," Doris smiled.
Ethan sat down, hesitating to speak.
Doris noticed and asked, "Ethan, do you have something to tell me?"
Ethan nodded, "Mom, I want to talk business with you."
"Business?" Doris thought for a moment, "Is it about the second round of financing for the Yates Group's central property?"
"Yes," Ethan said. "I think the Jones family should invest. We can discuss how much and how to divide the profits."
Doris asked, "Ethan, are you changing your mind because of my relationship with you?"
A look of worry and sadness crossed Doris's face. She didn't want people to think she was using her connections.
Ethan said, "Of course not. I agreed to let the Jones family invest because of your excellent qualifications. That's my main consideration."
Hearing this, Doris sighed in relief, "How much do you plan for the Jones family to invest?"
Ethan said, "One-third."
Doris asked, "What about the remaining?"
Ethan replied, "That will go to Josselin!"
