Chapter 298 Did Ethan Cheat?
Ashley rolled up to the front desk of her old stomping grounds.
"Ms. Wilson, here's your paternity report!" a nurse chirped.
Paternity report?
Ashley grabbed the report and remembered it was the one Liam had handed her. She'd left it lying around and totally spaced on it!
The report was supposed to be Ethan's, but since she had her info on file from a hospital stay, they hit her up.
Suddenly, Ashley flashed back to that morning's press conference where Ivy blabbed about Ethan having a secret kid.
And now, Ethan's paternity report was right in her hands!
For a sec, Ashley was stuck in a tough spot.
On one hand, she thought Ivy was full of it and trusted Ethan. On the other, her curiosity was eating her alive.
She was just about to rip open the envelope when Liam called. She picked up, "Hey, Liam."
"Ashley, I brought Mom and Dad back home. Come over for lunch," Liam said.
Ashley was caught off guard, "So sudden? I'm not ready."
"Ash, you're just coming home to see the folks. What's there to freak out about?" Liam said, "It's settled. I'll come get you."
Her heart raced, "Okay."
"Oh, and remember that favor you asked about pretending to be a little girl's dad for a day? Done. Do you know who her mom is?" Liam hesitated.
Ashley nodded, "Yeah, it's Yara. Why?"
Liam's tone shifted, "You know Yara used to chase after your husband, right? Everyone at school knew!"
Liam went on, "Aren't you worried she'll try to snag your man?"
Ashley had heard the rumors before.
At first, she was jealous, but now, she was Ethan's wife. What was there to worry about?
"Liam, do you really think I can't handle this?" Ashley shot back.
Liam sounded bummed, "That's not it. I just want you to be careful and not let good intentions backfire."
Ashley sighed, "Liam, I got this. I'll talk to you later."
"Alright," Liam replied.
They hung up.
Ashley remembered she was about to check the report, so she found a spot to sit and read it.
[Ethan, Nora, paternity relationship confirmed!]
Her face went pale, like she'd been hit with a ton of bricks. Her mind went blank!
"No way. My husband has a kid. Nora is Ethan's kid." Ashley's face darkened.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed. It was Ethan.
Seeing his name, her heart ached. She was so stunned by the report, she didn't even know how long the phone had been ringing before she numbly answered it.
"Honey, why'd you take so long to pick up?" Ethan's voice came through, "Got the stuff yet? I'll come down and get you, and we'll head to Grandpa's for dinner."
Ashley remembered the charity gala where she heard Yara's voice with a man's in the bushes. The voice had sounded so familiar, but she couldn't place it.
Now, in her dazed state, she realized it was Ethan's voice!
He was with another woman behind her back!
"Honey?" Ethan's voice came again, and Ashley felt like her heart was breaking, even breathing hurt.
"What's wrong? Why aren't you talking? Did something happen?"
"No."
Her voice was weak and raspy. She bit her hand to stop herself from crying.
She took a deep breath, trying to stay calm, "Liam just called and asked me to go to the White family. I can't go to Grandpa's today. Sorry."
Her voice shook, on the verge of tears.
Maybe because of the busy hospital, Ethan didn't catch her weird tone. He was just bummed she wouldn't be with him at the Jones family dinner.
"Want me to take you to the White family?" Ethan asked.
"No, Liam will pick me up," Ashley refused.
"Alright then, talk to you later." Ethan was about to hang up when Ashley's trembling voice asked, "Ethan, have you ever betrayed me?"
Ethan asked, "What's wrong?"
Ashley's eyes dimmed, "Nothing, goodbye."
She hung up, her eyes downcast, tears streaming down her face.
She had trusted Ethan so much, never imagining he would betray her!
She was completely irrational at the moment, the DNA report in her hand constantly reminding her that Ethan had betrayed her, that he had a mistress and a kid!
Thinking about her infertility, Ashley cried even harder.
Suddenly, someone approached her, "Ashley, why are you crying? Did someone mess with you?"
