Chapter 283 Ashley's Counterplot
Ethan had no clue that right after he bounced from the hospital, Ashley woke up. When she came to, she scoped out the room and realized she was in a hospital bed.
She started piecing things together, remembering she had a blowout with Ivy and stumbled on some big secret. Just when she was about to spill the beans to Ethan, bam, car accident.
Ashley's eyes went icy. She wondered if that crash was an accident.
She shifted around a bit, feeling her limbs still working, though they hurt like hell. She checked herself out, saw the post-surgery scars, and let out a small sigh.
Suddenly, there was a noise outside the door.
For some reason, Ashley immediately lay back down and played possum.
"Ashley..." It was a voice she didn't recognize. Ashley stayed still, looking like she was really out cold.
A figure crept closer, and a flash of silver caught her eye. The person said, "You know too much. I finally got my chance, and this time, I'm sending you straight to hell!"
Just as the person was about to strike, Ashley's eyes snapped open, scaring the crap out of him. In the next second, she flipped over, raised her hand, and knocked him out cold with one hit.
Ashley gave him a kick to make sure he was out, then yanked off his mask.
After a moment, she realized it was Ivy's dad, Lucas!
Ashley fell into deep thought.
She knew Ivy's secret, and Ivy definitely wouldn't let her off the hook. But she didn't expect Lucas to try and take her out.
If they found out she was back on her feet, they might come after her again.
So, a plan started forming in Ashley's mind.
Ashley pulled out a mask with some knockout gas and put Lucas to sleep first. Moments later, she called May, "May, get over here and help!"
"Ashley, you're awake!" May's voice was full of surprise.
Ashley said, "No time for chit-chat, get here quick, and keep it on the down-low! No one can know I'm awake!"
"Okay, I'm on my way."
Soon, May showed up at the ward and saw Lucas knocked out on the floor. She gasped, "Ashley, this guy..."
Ashley said calmly, "He tried to kill me."
Seeing her confusion, Ashley explained, "I know his daughter's secret, and they want me dead. But he didn't expect me to wake up and knock him out. I used the trick Master taught me to knock him out, so he won't remember a thing."
May thought for a moment and gave a thumbs up. "Mistress, are you planning to use this to your advantage?"
Ashley nodded and said, "Yeah, May, I'm hurt and can't move him. You gotta take him out."
"Got it." May quickly dragged Lucas out, coming back all out of breath. "Mistress, that guy was heavy as hell. I'm beat. By the way, aren't you gonna tell Ethan you're awake?"
Ashley said, "Of course, I was just about to tell him the secret."
"By the way," May said, "Did you hear something happened to Ethan?"
Ashley, getting all worked up, asked, "What happened?"
May pulled out her phone, "See for yourself."
Ashley took the phone and saw Felicity accusing Ethan of knocking up her daughter. May saw Ashley's face getting more serious and cautiously asked, "Ashley, this is a big deal. Do you believe Ethan?"
Hearing these accusations, Ashley felt really bummed out.
Then, when she saw Ivy's accusations, she frowned.
May thought she was upset and said, "Ashley, cheating is in men's nature. Ethan's a first-time offender. Just give him a warning, and he won't dare do it again."
"Why aren't you saying anything? Are you sad?" May asked.
Of course, Ashley believed in Ethan!
But she was also really sad!
What made her sad was that Ivy was backing David online. Didn't she know her actions would mess up Ethan big time?
For a moment, Ashley felt sad, unworthy, and heartbroken for Ethan. She wanted to hug him and tell him not to be scared, that she had his back!
Ashley said coldly, "I'll secretly look into Felicity's claims."
"As for Ivy's stuff, I'll find the right time to tell Ethan." Just as she finished speaking, the live stream on the phone showed Ethan facing off with David.
"Mr. Zito, since the media's here, why don't we take Ms. Zito for a test right now?" Ethan sneered.
"Ethan, you dirty scoundrel!" David, all riled up, said, "If you deny it, I'll die right here in front of you!"
With that, David rushed off the stage and headed straight for the wall.
Ethan, exuding a chilling aura, coldly watched him make a scene.
Just as Felicity was about to hit the wall, a voice suddenly stopped him, "Dad! Stop it!"
Felicity appeared, crying her eyes out. She looked at Ethan with scared eyes and said, "Mr. Yates, I'm sorry my dad caused you trouble. I'll take him away now. Dad, stop it, let's go home."
