Chapter 599 Vivienne Wants to Join the Discussion Group?
The next day.
Early in the morning, Vivienne was escorted to Ethan's office.
Ethan looked down at her with contempt and said coldly, "You drugged me. Ready to face my wrath?"
"Your Highness, I did it because I'm helplessly attracted to you!"
"Nonsense. If you won't tell the truth, don't blame me for what happens next." Ethan ordered, "Take her to the dungeon. You know what to do to make her talk."
"Yes, Your Highness. We understand."
As Vivienne was being led away, the mention of the dungeon drained the color from her face. She fell to her knees, begging, "Your Highness, please spare me! I won't dare do it again. I'm telling the truth—I only did it because I'm infatuated with you. I had no other motive."
Ethan laughed coldly. "When I woke up, I discovered an important key was missing. Did you steal it?"
Vivienne's eyes darted nervously. "Your Highness, I didn't steal any key."
Ethan stared at her intensely, as if trying to see through her.
Vivienne couldn't meet his gaze, her guilt evident.
Ethan adjusted his wheelchair and asked, "You truly didn't steal my key?"
Vivienne shook her head, trembling under the weight of his intimidating presence.
Ethan continued, "That key opens a safe containing items crucial to Gold Valley District's survival. Many people want to get their hands on it. If you stole it and gave it to someone else, you'd be committing treason! Wouldn't that bring shame to your family?"
Vivienne collapsed to the floor, terrified. "Your Highness, I..."
Her eyes flickered as she shook uncontrollably.
Ethan looked at her with disdain. "For the sake of your grandfather and father who sacrificed themselves for the country, I'll believe you this time."
Vivienne, who had been on the verge of confessing, let out a deep sigh of relief. "Thank you, Your Highness."
"From today on, stay out of my sight. Now get out!"
Vivienne hesitated, reluctant to leave.
"What, do you have a death wish?"
"Your Highness, I want to work in the Discussion Group. Please grant me this."
Ethan said coldly, "The Discussion Group is already fully staffed. We don't need additional personnel."
"Your Highness, I can accept that you reject my feelings and keep me at a distance, but I'm a rare talent. Not hiring me would be a loss for the Discussion Group."
Ethan scoffed, "You're really full of yourself, aren't you!"
"I graduated from Aivalia University, and your current project marks the first commercial collaboration between the Aivalia government and the Yates Group. This project is crucial for the future commercial expansion of the Gold Valley District. Given my thorough understanding of Aivalia, having me in this position would greatly benefit the Discussion Group."
Ethan rolled his eyes at her confident speech.
He sneered, "The other staff in the Discussion Group are just as capable. Why should I hire an extra person?"
Vivienne clenched her fists in anger at the dismissal. "Don't underestimate me. I'll show you how impressive I am—that I'm worthy of your affection."
Ethan was speechless.
A cunning look flashed in Vivienne's eyes. "Your Highness, if you don't agree, I'll tell the King and Queen your secret!"
Ethan laughed coldly. "What secret do I have?"
Vivienne's gaze fell on his chest. "The King and Queen probably don't know you had heart transplant surgery, do they? I've investigated—you were injured because of Ashley. You hid the surgery from everyone because you feared your parents would resent the woman you love!"
Hearing this, a murderous glint flashed in Ethan's eyes.
In an instant, he attacked like a ferocious lion, his hand gripping Vivienne's throat tightly.
Vivienne's face turned red. "Let go..."
"You're threatening me?" Ethan's cold breath fell on her face, like a giant snake flicking its tongue. "The last person who threatened me died horribly. Do you want to experience the same fate?"
Vivienne was terrified by his menacing demeanor.
But she also realized something—Ashley was his weakness!
Vivienne struggled to speak. "Your Highness, how can you be so tyrannical? You reject my affection and refuse to let me work. If I can't have you... can't I at least work diligently?"
She continued, "If you want to kill me, go ahead. Before I came, I told my friend that if I didn't return home safely in half an hour, she should reveal this secret to the King and Queen. When that happens... your parents will hate your wife and prevent you from staying together."
A fierce fire burned in Ethan's eyes. He wanted nothing more than to strangle her.
But she was right! When Doris learned he was injured saving Ashley, she harbored some resentment. If she discovered he had a heart transplant, she would surely blame Ashley and might even hate her!
No, he couldn't let Doris and Garrett hate Ashley!
Ethan took a deep breath and with a violent swing, threw Vivienne against the wall like a ball. She crashed to the floor with a painful groan.
Ethan said coldly, "Report for work tomorrow. If you dare slack off, you're out immediately! As for my surgery—if you dare tell my parents, your entire family will die! Now get out!"
"Yes."
Vivienne stumbled out.
Ethan's eyes glinted with cold fury.
He hated being threatened more than anything!
Vivienne had crossed his line. When the opportunity arose, he would make her die miserably.
Ashley reviewed the report she had completed last night and, finding no issues, handed it to Jason. "Jason, here's the summary report you requested. Please review it."
Jason looked at the pages in shock. "You finished it already?"
Ethan had asked Jason to compile this year's and next year's reports, and he hadn't even completed a tenth of it, yet Ashley had already finished!
Jason reluctantly acknowledged that Ashley seemed quite capable at her job.
But he quickly dismissed the thought.
He convinced himself that she must have finished so quickly because Ethan had secretly helped her!
Ashley said, "Yes, I've submitted the report to you. I'll go work on other tasks now."
Jason replied, "Go ahead."
He looked at the report in his hand, then at his own mountain of unfinished materials. A malicious thought crossed his mind.
Just then, an internal call came through. Jason answered.
Ethan's voice came through, "Jason, have you finished the summary I asked for yesterday? If not, you might as well start packing your things!"
