Chapter 604 Darling, I Did Not Betray You

Elora slipped into the private dining room unnoticed.

Looking at the five unconscious figures sprawled on the floor, she smirked coldly. Then her expression shifted to one of confusion—getting all five of them out without raising suspicion would be the real challenge.

She went to the front desk and spun a convincing story for the staff. Eventually, the restaurant employees even helped her load everyone into her car. She drove to the nearest hotel, where the staff assisted in carrying all five to a suite.

"Isabella, you refused to help me," Elora muttered. "This guy's not bad-looking. Letting you sleep with him is almost doing you a favor."

The suite had three bedrooms and a living room.

Elora placed Yaakov and Isabella in one bedroom, lit a special incense in their room, and quickly backed out, covering her nose and mouth.

She put Ashley and Ethan in another bedroom and Atticus in the third. Mission accomplished. Once Isabella and Yaakov had been intimate, she could blackmail Isabella for money.

Around midnight, Ashley drifted in and out of consciousness. Her mouth felt parched, and her body burned with an inexplicable heat.

In her hazy state, she felt something pressing against her—something that repulsed yet attracted her, like ice that made her uncomfortable yet compelled her to draw closer.

She forced her eyes open and saw Ethan's handsome face inches from hers. Her vigilance eased slightly.

"Ethan," Ashley murmured.

"What is it?" Ethan was equally disoriented, his whole body feeling wrong. He was beyond caring where they were.

"Darling, where are we? How did we get here?" she asked.

"No idea." His voice was hoarse with pain. "I feel terrible."

Ashley pushed him gently. "Darling, you can't exert yourself. Try to hold on."

"How did we end up here? Why are we feeling like this? Could it be..."

Confused, she glanced around the room and spotted the burning incense.

Her eyes widened in realization. "That's it!"

The incense!

She struggled to stand but her limbs felt leaden, causing her to collapse back onto the floor.

"Ashley," Ethan murmured weakly.

With fierce determination in her eyes, Ashley crawled painfully toward the incense burner. She knocked it over, extinguishing the flame.

Still weak, she dragged herself to the door, using the wall for support to pull herself up. She tried the door handle, but something was jamming the door from the outside. No matter how she tried, it wouldn't open.

Frustrated, Ashley pounded on the door. "Who did this? Why lock us in here? Why use aphrodisiac incense? What's the endgame here?"

A thought struck her—could there be cameras? Given Ethan's high profile, perhaps someone was trying to create a scandal.

She grabbed her phone and used its flashlight to search the room thoroughly, but found no cameras anywhere.

"Ashley, darling..." Ethan called out in agony from the bed.

"I'm here," she responded, approaching him. Seeing his pained expression and erratic breathing, she grew increasingly worried. She took out some medication she always carried and helped him take two pills. "Here, take these quickly."

Ethan swallowed the pills.

The incense had been placed close to Ethan's side of the bed. Having inhaled a larger dose, he seemed to be more severely affected, barely lucid.

Eyes tightly shut, he called her name. "Darling, help me."

She wanted to get cold water to cool him down, but she herself was dizzy and weak.

Perhaps because she'd inhaled less of the incense, she retained some semblance of rational thought.

Seeing his suffering, her face flushed crimson as she began unbuttoning his shirt. When she reached his trousers, what she saw made her blush even deeper.

"Darling, someone's locked us in. Try to control yourself. If you get too agitated, it could be dangerous for your condition."

"I... I'll help you," she whispered, her face burning as she helped ease his discomfort.

At dawn, Ashley rose from the bed in a daze. Eyes closed, she walked like a sleepwalker.

She stumbled to the door and accidentally kicked away whatever had been jamming it. To her surprise, the door opened.

She then drifted to the kitchen, found a bottle of water, and drank deeply.

On her way back, she collapsed onto the living room sofa, mistaking it for a bed, and immediately fell asleep.

Meanwhile, Isabella emerged from her bedroom, naked and bearing marks of intimacy. After drinking some water, she wandered in her confused state into the wrong room and collapsed beside Ethan, falling fast asleep.

Hours later, as daylight streamed through the windows, Isabella slowly regained consciousness. When she saw the face next to hers, she nearly screamed. Afraid of waking Ethan, she covered her mouth to stifle the sound.

Seeing he was still asleep, Isabella hastily threw on some clothes and fled the room.

In the living room, she found Ashley sleeping on the sofa, also bearing marks of intimacy. Confused but thinking quickly, Isabella carried Ashley back to Ethan's bed and placed her beside him.

Task complete, Isabella hurriedly left the room.

She noticed the telltale signs of sexual activity on her own body and began to cry.

What had happened? Why had she woken up next to Ethan? She felt she had betrayed Ashley!

This couldn't stand. She opened the door to the adjacent room, saw Atticus still sleeping, and lay down beside him.

Moments later, her piercing scream jolted everyone in the suite awake.
